 | | chessgames.com: <ughaibu> There's no way to ignore an entire page, but I might rig it so that Rogoff (and a few other nutty pages) intentionally are listed further down the page, even if there is a brand new post there. It used to work that way on the homepage before I decided to purge it from there altogether. |

 | | FSR: <chessgames.com> I just submitted the following game, which continues the theme of "mate by castling." I forgot to put "1-0" at the end. Is that OK, or a problem? [Event "Minneapolis Chess Club"]

 | | chessgames.com: It would be a problem but I'll fix it for you; thanks for the heads-up. |

 | | chessgames.com: Oh my, that game with Schachcomputer Chess Champion Super System 3 is hilarious. |

 | | FSR: <chessgames.com> Thanks! Game Collection: Mate by Castling is growing by leaps and bounds! I just submitted another two to you. |

 | | Tabanus: <CG> I was thinking of the general reader. Not so useful to me, to be honest, but I can now see *after editing* the players with full number of games and yellow color (= probably wrong game result). And still, the players with too many/duplicate games. In Hasselbacken Open (2016) and others I've so far made "bug reports" in the kibitzing. Not sure how detailed these should be, of if they should be posted at all. It's mainly to show me where I left off. |

 | | Tabanus: CG, I could make an effort with the recently finished Pula Open 2017, if the pgn has good enough quality. http://www.skpula.hr/Pula%20Open%20... |

 | | chessgames.com: We also have Saint Louis Fall Classic (2017) and Saint Louis Fall Classic (Group B) (2017) uploaded. |

 | | Tabanus: Pula Open 2017 done.
NB no. 29 Karsten Verhasselt has no yellow color in the edit table (at least not on my screen), even if he has 4 games. |
|
Sep-17-17
 | | chessgames.com: Great work <Tab>. I noticed Ognjen Jovanic still shows 8 games. <NB no. 29 Karsten Verhasselt has no yellow color in the edit table ... even if he has 4 games.> That's odd, I will have to investigate that. Thanks for pointing it out. |
|
Sep-17-17
 | | Tabanus: Thanks. Jovanic had an unplayed loss in rd. 1. So far I've not counted unplayed losses. In a few cases (two or three so far) they turn up among the top 29. |
|
| Sep-18-17 | | Benzol: <<MissS> Yes maám!> Seeing how you honoured Miss Scarlett's request is there any chance you could finish off the outstanding games from the 83rd NZ Ch and also the games I uploaded of Anna Iodo ? |
|
| Sep-18-17 | | thegoodanarchist: < Benzol: <<MissS> Yes maám!> Seeing how you honoured Miss Scarlett's request is there any chance you could finish off the outstanding games from the 83rd NZ Ch...> Everyone knows that the 38th NZ Ch. was the much better championship. The games were livelier. The skittles were skittlier. It was the good ol' days. |
|
Sep-18-17
 | | chessgames.com: <The skittles were skittlier.> Heh. Don't worry, we'll get to those good old NZ chess games soon.
I've been in a playful mood and removed the ancient trophy.gif and replaced it with the Unicode symbol: 🏆
It appears on tournament pages and some special searches, and also on player pages near the "Recent Games" feature. I also added an 'easter egg' functionality to it which will probably only be of interest to CG Editors and power-users. If you click the trophy on a page with a crossable, you'll switch into "no leaderboard view" — if you click the trophy on a page without a leaderboard, you'll get it (but I can't promise it will be pretty.) This prevents the necessity of editing your location: bar to make the site do things. No good website should require users to do that. |
|
Sep-18-17
 | | chessgames.com: Oh, it's been pointed out that not everybody can see the Unicode trophy icon. Can anybody not see it, who has a machine that isn't ancient? |
|
Sep-19-17
 | | offramp: I completely missed the Unicode Trophy. |
|
Sep-19-17
 | | Tabanus: That looks fine CG. But.. does it mean that the default view won't be changed any more? For example, the European Blitz Championships (2016) is a list of players, even if edited, but now you don't need to make leaderboard as a default for it. |
|
Sep-19-17
 | | Tabanus: I see the trophy does now show on team events (on 3 I checked). Minor point: On knock-outs such as World Cup (2017), the term "TOURNAMENT STANDINGS" could be replaced by something else perhaps (or something more general for all crosstable=1 views). Or perhaps take away the trophy also for knock-outs. |
|
Sep-19-17
 | | Tabanus: And perhaps on matches. The term "MATCH STANDINGS" does not apply on e. g. 13th Anglo-American Cable Match (1911). |
|
| Sep-19-17 | | thegoodanarchist: <chessgames.com: Oh, it's been pointed out that not everybody can see the Unicode trophy icon. Can anybody not see it, who has a machine that isn't ancient?> I don't know what a Unicode trophy is. |
|
| Sep-19-17 | | thegoodanarchist: Also, my machine *is* ancient.
But at least I can spell "Unicode trophy".
So I've got that going for me... |
|
Sep-19-17
 | | Tabanus: <I see the trophy does now show on team events> I meant it does <not> show. (Which is fine.) Btw the 13th Anglo-American Cable Match (1911) and similars could be defined as a team event. |
|
Sep-19-17
 | | Tabanus: <something more general for all crosstable=1 views> What about "INDIVIDUAL SCORES"? Then all events could have x-table view. Just throwing out ideas here, sorry :) |
