Dec-13-17  thegoodanarchist: <chessgames.com: Looking at IMSA Elite Mind Games (Blitz) (2017) I've a sneaking suspicion that one of Mamedov's games was wrongly attributed to Mamedyarov.>

No matter who played it, if either one of them lost the the GOTD title could be

"Anti Mame"

You heard it here first!

Dec-13-17  thegoodanarchist: < jessicafischerqueen:

I agree with this solution offered by <offramp>:...>

My solution is that everyone should quit complaining about it.

Things are fine the way they are.

  WannaBe: In my opinion...

People should complaint, without it, nothing would get done or improve.

Martin Luther & Dr. Martin L. King were complainers...

Now, if we can do this without it becoming a full blown flame war, is a different story.

Statistics suggest that when <Everyone> complains, business owners ought to get excited about it. The complaining <Everyone> represents a huge opportunity for more business....

WannaBe: Seeing something weird, wondering if anyone else is experiencing this on their mobile device(s)

Android Phone, LG Aristo, Android Version 7.0, Kernel version 3.18.31, software version M21010t

Problem: Home page is big, screen is filled with 3/4 of the chess board, it's not (re)fitting to my phone's screen size... Have to pinch the screen to get it back to 'normal' size.

Wondering if this is just me or not.

Tabanus: I wouldn't know either, without your application :)

On the Russian Superfinals (Women) (2017), all the games are now available at http://theweekinchess.com/assets/fi... (if usable)

Tabanus: CG to nitpick further, I don't really like the plurals you often have, as in "Russian Superfinals" and "European Championships", I think it should be e. g. "Russian Superfinal (Women) (2017)".

  chessgames.com: Oooooops....

I just accidentally set about 1000 members (premium and otherwise) who had their viewer set to pgn4web to Olga. Not all members, just the ones that haven't been seen in a few months.

That was not my intention. I was trying to force an upgrade on the CVD members who haven't been around since Olga was launched, because I've gotten a lot of "help me, my CVD isn't working" emails lately. But by accident I cast my net too wide and converted some pgn4web users as well.

For the record you can set your viewer from any game page, or from the pulldown here: Preferences Page.

There's no easy way for me to set them all back without mucking through backups. I apologize for the inconvenience.

chessgames.com: The Championships/Championship thing has always drove us nuts. I think the logic is that if a nation is simultaneously having a Championship and a Women's Championship (and sometimes even the Junior is thrown in as well) then the plural is called for. But since we segregate all of these events anyhow, that logic is dubious.

Easiest and probably most sensible is to singularize all of them. If it says "US Championship" for one event and "US Championship (Women)" for another, then it's 100% correct.

Dec-15-17  zanzibar: <CG> - On the solved clues page I'll repeat my oft-repeated wish -

Sort the solved clues in reverse chronological order.

That way we don't have to scroll over an increasing long list of familiar solutions to get to the latest.

Dec-16-17  sonia91: Is it possible to upload also the Basque games from the IMSA ELite Mind Games? They are available on the official site, the same from which you downloaded the rapid and blitz games (btw thanks).

Richard Taylor: <thegoodanarchist: <What are you going to do Boss to get rid of this problem??> <chessgames.com: Travis: <The ad on the Kibitzer Cafe> I'm about to wipe out ads on Kibitzer Cafe right now. Problem solved.>

Probably that's faster than actually ending social security.>

In NZ we call it Welfare and while I worked my early life mostly. Various things happened and basically from 1987 I lived on welfare and plastic. Although I went to university and so on. So the 'shame' that one is meant to feel is not something that affects me. It is strange this kind of thing.

But it is good that cg.com are wiping it as, despite the above, these things (kinds of 'digging' or actually I think it is a form of bullying which certain members on Roggoff etc indulge in) can become tiring and annoying. Even hurtful.

We were talking about an advertisement. Then I made a joke about it.

But thanks for sharing your life story.

chessgames.com: Just in case anybody is concerned regarding clue #37, we have NOT actually had our security compromised. The "fake hack" is simply part of the contest.

Most of you probably figured as much, but we feel obligated to announce this as an actual security breach would be a very big issue and nothing to joke about.

Dec-18-17  MostlyAverageJoe: As a long time Mac/iMac/iPad/iPhone/iPod user, I am personally offended by this explanation of klu#37:

<Even you babies with iMacs can run that program from your Terminal program>

MAJ, the snowflake

PS: Just kidding :-) Very cool obfuscation!

BTW, there are plenty of online Perl interpreters that could have been used to decrypt that klu, for example: https://www.tutorialspoint.com/exec...

Nice game, by the way. How incredibly delicate White's position was before it collapsed.

It was on an iPad, which I don't have at the moment. It may have been the rubbishy internet connection I had.

chessgames.com: See if you can replicate it the problem on your iPad. If you can't, chalk it up to gremlins.
