| Jul-25-18 | | zanzibar: <offramp> it's even worse than that - we still don't know whether Carlsen or Svidler won! |
|
| Jul-25-18 | | WinKing: <chessgames> your game board for the Biel tournament is a mess. The first 5 games listed are correct. The 6th game you have listed <6. Mamedyarov vs M Vachier-Lagrave> is wrong. The #6 game should be the one between M Vachier-Lagrave vs Carlsen which took place in round 2. So corrections have to be made from games 6 thru 12. How in the world did it get that screwed up? |
|
| Jul-25-18 | | WinKing: It should look like this:
Round 1
1. Carlsen vs Navara 1-0
2. Mamedyarov vs N Georgiadis 1-0
3. M Vachier-Lagrave vs Svidler ½-½
Round 2
4. Navara vs Mamedyarov ½-½
5. Svidler vs N Georgiadis 1-0
6. M Vachier-Lagrave vs Carlsen 0-1
Round 3
7. Carlsen vs Svidler ½-½
8. N Georgiadis vs Navara 0-1
9. Mamedyarov vs M Vachier-Lagrave 1-0
Round 4
10. N Georgiadis vs Carlsen ½-½
11. Mamedyarov vs Svidler ½-½
12. Navara vs M Vachier-Lagrave ½-½ |

| Jul-26-18 | | zanzibar: <CG> really should look into automating the tournament info page. E.g. the leaderboard and xtab could easily be extracted from the PGN. That would mean no hand-editing as the tournament progressed. Just have a script update the PGN and rerun the script extracting the info as each round's games become available. It would be nice if <CG> would "borrow" the full playing schedule at the start of tournament play (and record the game controls and tournament tiebreak rules etc.). But the main point is to get the PGN and tournament page updating synchronized and scripted. (PS- Maybe editors should be allowed to update the live player info too?) |

| Jul-26-18 | | WinKing: <zanzibar: (PS- Maybe editors should be allowed to update the live player info too?)> That might be a good idea. |

 | | kingscrusher: Hi Chessgames.com
Given the Google Doodle today, I checked out Lyudmila Vladimirovna Rudenko, and I think the Chessgames.com bio of her should be updated with more information about her life and achievements. See Wiki and also this article: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/... She saved a lot of children during the Siege Of Lenningrad which she regards as her greatest achievement. |

| Jul-27-18 | | JimNorCal: Let me join those asking for a status update on the "live game" situation. |
|
| Jul-27-18 | | zanzibar: I think <Sargon> isn't doing too much updating these days, those he seems to check in once in awhile. That leaves Daniel primarily in the breach... let's hope all is well and that it's vacation (and not traction), and that's it's a couple of lines of Perl and not a Pearly line. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen:
<z> Daniel is probably cooking up some complicated code to improve all functions of <cg.com>. Whenever he is gone for some time, usually he comes back with good news on that front. |
|
| Jul-27-18 | | morfishine: <jessicafischerqueen> Thank you |
|
| Jul-27-18 | | zanzibar: <JFQ> You mean that now that Guido has resigned from BDFL of Python, Daniel has decided to take over for him, and convert all of <CG> over to Python as a side project? That might be worth the wait. |
|
| Jul-27-18 | | zanzibar: That last post was a bit geeky, but <chessgames> might well consider using a SCID/Python extension for tournament xtab updates. It's merely a question of interest. |

 | | saffuna: Like the great majority of us, I never met Daniel Freeman. But it seems like I did. He and Alberto Artidello built a great site. Simple yet wide-ranging, efficient, easy to use. He was simultaneously lenient and sterm and fair with users who (euphemism alert) tested the rules, myself included on several occasions. I can only imagine the nerve, or foolhardiness, the two men had to build the site: "Let's put up a big database, and let people comment and argue and analyze. Maybe they'll pay a little for the privilege." I doubt they thought there would ever be 4,000,000 kibitzes. |
|
| Jul-30-18 | | Dr Winston OBoogie: I second that, Jim. I feel upset for him and his family. Thinking of them at this awful time. X |
|
| Jul-30-18 | | Keyser Soze: You have nerves Winston..and no shame..Even after threat him and the site calling him a "coward" <dozens of times>? Now the drama queen are "upset"? You should make a <<<public apologu>> at least to save some face, for your disgusting behavior towards HIM and to the site. Or that or keep quiet. |
|
| Jul-30-18 | | Dr Winston OBoogie: Keyser. Daniel Freeman just died. I, like everyone else on this site am shocked at your behaviour. You need serious mental help. <Chessgames>. I really would like to pass on my sincere condolences (If that's the right phrase?) to Daniel's friends and family. I felt like I knew him, so to say I'm shocked is an understatement. He was a good man. X |
|
| Jul-30-18 | | Keyser Soze: Everybody is shocked and sad..I think pouting out your hypocrisy now is a matter of public service . Trust me, my behavior now is nothing comparing what you did to the site and to im in the past years. Own it.
Conversation is over. |
|
| Jul-30-18 | | Dr Winston OBoogie: No "conversation" with a psychopath like you. You're embarrassing yourself. |
