there's a slight error in the inline style-elements that appear on literally every page of cg.com: the html-comments used to comment out style-elements for ancient browsers are ended with "//-->" as if for javascripts. however "//" is an error and a meaningless symbol in css (css-comments have a different format, as you probably know), so picky parsing of the pages create warnings. just skipping the "//"s should work just fine for style elements unless there are some browsers that parses inline css in non-standard ways. |

 | | al wazir: In the past I've lobbied for more puzzles based on endgame play, the area where I personally am weakest. (Though that's like saying that of all the oceans in the world, the Pacific is the one that's the wettest.) I've noticed that a lot of the puzzles you've posted recently have been endgames. So even though they're killing my batting average, thanks. |

 | | tpstar: <chessgames.com> Thank you very much for covering the WC Match in Sofia, and for hiring a GM commentator during play. His comments and analysis were very lucid and helpful, and the overall atmosphere was much improved from before. I also enjoyed Natalia Pogonina as your guest commentator, and I especially appreciated how she would interact with the group and answer real-time questions without requiring references to cricket or alcohol. =) |

| May-12-10 | | Blunderdome: Even if it's too late for a forum, I'd like to see the games from the women's event in Nalchik added. |

| May-13-10 | | Blunderdome: Also, one of Leko's games is missing from the current Astrakhan tournament, I think it's his round 3 game. |

| May-14-10 | | suenteus po 147: <chessgames.com> I've come across a game conflict I created. This game score: T Van Scheltinga vs S Landau, 1936 actually belongs to another game, Van den Bosch-Landau, 1936 which never got processed since they have the exact same game score. The actual, correct game score for T Van Scheltinga vs S Landau, 1936 is thus: 1.Nf3 Nf6 2.c4 b6 3.g3 Bb7 4.Bg2 g6 5.O-O Bg7 6.d4 c5 7.Nc3 cxd4 8.Nxd4 Bxg2 9.Kxg2 Qc8 10.b3 Qb7+ 11.f3 d5 12.cxd5 Nxd5 13.Nxd5 Qxd5 14.Bb2 O-O 15.Rb1 Rd8 16.Nb5 Na6 17.Qxd5 Rxd5 18.Bxg7 Kxg7 19.a4 Rd2 20.Kf2 Nc5 21.Ke3 Rd7 22.Rfc1 Rad8 23.a5 Rd5 24.f4 bxa5 25.Nxa7 Rb8 26.Rc3 Rb6 27.Nc8 Re6+ 28.Kf3 Ne4 29.Rbc1 Nxc3 30.Rxc3 Rd2 31.e4 Rxh2 32.f5 gxf5 33.exf5 Ree2 0-1 The correct ECO is A30, and correcting this game should let Van den Bosch-Landau, 1936 be processed without duplication or conflict. My apologies for submitting this erroneous game to the database. |

 | | chessgames.com: <suenteus> The simplest way to fix this is to delete the game you referenced above, so now we can insert the two game correctly. Thanks. |

 | | tpstar: <chessgames.com> There is a typo in today's GOTD pun where it should be "Veni, Vidi, Vishy" referring to the famous "Veni, vidi, vici" from antiquity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veni,_... |

 | | chessgames.com: <tpstar> Oh how embarrassing, thanks tpstar. <Dr. J> Thanks, we weren't sure if people would love it or hate it. There seems to be a mixture. Today's is another doosey in our opinion. |

 | | JointheArmy: <chessgames.com> Did Larry Chrisitansen really play at the Politiken Cup in Denmark? He hasn't played a tournament outside the US since 2002, so it seems odd he would enter a low profile tournament and lose to nearly everyone 500+ points below him. He lost to players with the following ratings: 1884, 2043, 2116, 1939, and 1963. Not to mention one the players he lost to has numbers in his name. |
|
May-18-10
 | | WannaBe: Not sure, but if it's in Denmark, there are a lot of Chrisitasens... Or if you go to Norway/Sweden, a lot of 'son or 'sson or 'sen or 'ssens... Dang Vikings, hordes of them! =) I should know, I lived in South Dakota, where they are all Norwegians!! |

| May-18-10 | | frogbert: <Any updates ???>
whiteshark, you forgot to include the special code word in invisible ink. here it is: [this might be the wrong colour of invisible ink though, as my post went unnoticed too, even if i had the magic word right. ;o)] |

May-19-10
 | | chessgames.com: <Join the Army> It sounds very doubtful Larry played there, although surely Politiken Cup (2009)/Robert E Christensen did and perhaps some other Christiansens as well. If anybody can figure out which player he was confused with let us know. |

| May-20-10 | | Benzol: <chessgames> I notice on the History of the World Chess Championship page that it says that Alyekhin passed away in 1948 thus enabling FIDE to assume control of the World title. Although FIDE did hold the WCC tournament in 1948 to determine who should be the next title holder the title was vacant for about two years as Alyekhin died on March 24th 1946. |

| May-20-10 | | chesstoplay: It was mentioned by < parmetd > a couple of days ago that this was similar to the Shulman Nakamura 3 Queen game: < Zenyuk-Nakamura > Can you find it and add it to the data base?
Thanks in advance! |

Why Anand-Topalov match is still not part of the WCC series? This match is not added to Anand and Topalov's WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS as well? |

 | | Tabanus: Hi cg,
from http://www.chessbase.com/espanola/n... you will see that N Pares Vives, J Pares, Pares Vives Jose (ESP), Pares Vives Jose and Pares Vives J are all the same player: FM Natalia Pares Vives. |

| May-22-10 | | Open Defence: <cg.com> have you thought about having a live consultation game against a famous GM where the Team's move is played once a certain number of votes have been received or a fixed time passes then maybe you could get GMs like Nakamura and Carlsen to play against a CG Team live in real time |

 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <chessgames.com: Another plan for game collections is the possibility to have a "private collection" that can only be viewed by the creator of the collection.> Any update on this? It's been 4 years since the post quoted ;-) By the way, how's Jasper? |
|
| May-23-10 | | laskersteinitz: Hi Chessgames,
I suggested this earlier but never got a response. I think it would be great to have an opening explorer for a specific event, such as the Anand-Topalov World Championship match, or for all games between two specific players...I know it's probably hard to implement, but it would be a nice feature. Thanks. |
|
| May-24-10 | | Eyal: <CG> Mamedyarov-Leko from round 12 is missing in the Grand Prix page, and the "Final Four" games played so far between Nakamura/Kamsky/Onischuk/Shulman are missing from the US Championship page. Btw, looking at how all the 6 Grand Prix tournaments' games appear in this database, there is some inconsistency in the way the tournaments are named - there's "Baku", "Elista" and "Jermuk", the "4th", and then two (the 2nd in Sochi and the current one) that are just called "FIDE Grand Prix". Perhaps it would be a good idea to make it more coherent by naming them all by number or place (or both). |
