 | | Domdaniel: <matebay> Listen to me. Now. Listen to something other than your own relentless voice. You've been a member for less than three months - some date in October. Given your behavior, you can only be a serial troll picking on hapless websites, or a former member under a new guise. As in a sockpuppet. There's no real hierarchy in CG. Nobody laughs at newbies. Mostly, new members are welcome when they act appropriately. And there's no special kudos for being a longtime member *or* having a chess title. If your behavior is bad neither will protect you. This is the root cause of AJ's problem: his own bad behavior is coupled with a sense of entitlement. About 5-6 years ago, there was a previous Goldsby flame war. Around the same time, a CG member with the username 'bufon' had a habit of getting everything wrong. You remind me of him. Stop using this page as a urinal. Listen more, talk less. It may sound strange coming from a chatterbox like me, but I was silent during my first year here. There's such a thing as paying your dues. What you completely fail to grasp is the caliber of people who have now spoken out on this issue, following tpstar's announcement. While there's no official hierarchy, these are long-standing members, award-winning pillars of the CG community, and good chess players. They've earned respect, and most folk understand that. What *do* you understand, matebay? Beyond the excitement of being in the equivalent of a riot, inciting others, starting fires, looting? All this crap will be deleted anyhow once our hard-working admins can spare the time. Meanwhile, try just shutting up, willya? |

| Dec-23-11 | | matebay: <You've been a member for less than three months - some date in October. Given your behavior, you can only be a serial troll picking on hapless websites, or a former member under a new guise. As in a sockpuppet.> Profound observation. But listen now..I am not a troll for my posts are exemplary (i.e. not inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic). They enhance rather than disrupt normal on-topic discussion. I am not a sockpuppet for I have no master but myself...I admit I once posted using various handles but they're gone now...fully retired...gone to sea and never to return. <This is the root cause of AJ's problem: his own bad behavior is coupled with a sense of entitlement.> Who judges if <AJ>'s been bad? CG has only the right to be judge and executioner. Not you, Michael Jackson or Santa Claus. <About 5-6 years ago, there was a previous Goldsby flame war. Around the same time, a CG member with the username 'bufon' had a habit of getting everything wrong. You remind me of him.> More than 500 years ago, on 30 May 1431), A peasant girl was born in eastern France who claimed divine guidance, she led the French army to several important victories during the Hundred Years' War, which paved the way for the coronation of Charles VII. She was captured by the Burgundians, sold to the English, tried by an ecclesiastical court, and burned at the stake when she was 19 years old.[3] Twenty-five years after the execution, Pope Callixtus III examined the trial, pronounced her innocent and declared her a martyr.[3] Joan of Arc was beatified in 1909 and canonized in 1920.[2] She is – along with St. Denis, St. Martin of Tours, St. Louis IX, and St. Theresa of Lisieux – one of the patron saints of France. She is a national heroine of France and a Roman Catholic saint. You remind me of the bufon who lighted the stakes on fire. <AJ> reminds me of Joan of Arc. <Stop using this page as a urinal. Listen more, talk less. It may sound strange coming from a chatterbox like me, but I was silent during my first year here. There's such a thing as paying your dues.> I'm cleaning up the street drenched in your urinal. I can not be silent for it is said: <it is enough that good men do nothing for evil to triumph.> <What you completely fail to grasp is the caliber of people who have now spoken out on this issue, following tpstar's announcement. While there's no official hierarchy, these are long-standing members, award-winning pillars of the CG community, and good chess players. They've earned respect, and most folk understand that.> They appear like toinks to me.
<What *do* you understand, matebay? Beyond the excitement of being in the equivalent of a riot, inciting others, starting fires, looting?> I'm in the side of justice. Putting out your fire and preventing your loot and plunder. <All this crap will be deleted anyhow once our hard-working admins can spare the time. Meanwhile, try just shutting up, willya?> I will speak as much as I want for it was long so declared by our forefathers...freedom of speech in the universal declaration of human rights by the United Nations...I say Long Live Wesley So. |

| Dec-23-11 | | matebay: <How can 1 twisted brain fit the definition of <AJ>'s rent-boy sidekick? Very easily.> <AJ> has done Wesley So page a great favor...he has spent great effort and long time to work on the Wesley So Vs Shirov project. Other than this show of magnanimity, I am not privy of anything wrong his done to hate him. Just returning the favor. | Dec-23-11 | | dakgootje: <<I'm in the side of justice.>> Finally a fresh breath of air among all those people proclaiming they are on the side of injustice. <"No, justice? - that's for idiots. Injustice is where its at!">, they say. And <"What is that son? Justis? Is that one of those new flowershower hipsterbands? Now eat your potatoes."> You, sir, are a visionary! Your ideas break ages of tradition - I'd write a book if I were you: "Justice. Just try it!" |

 | | tpstar: And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were so afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. *****
Two days before Christmas, let's give the Administrators a break and only post positive messages here until after the holiday rush. Then we can solve our problems together in 2012. Peace. |

| Dec-23-11 | | JoergWalter: <matebay: <AJ> reminds me of Joan of Arc.> oh, just an inversion <JA> instead of <AJ>. Does <AJ> need a surgery to be recognized a heroine? Come on, that comparison is outside proportion. Take your time under the christmas tree to think about it. Wash away a few things with a good rum.
tagay pa.
Merry christmas everyone. |

 | | Domdaniel: Apologies, <CG> and <tpstar>, but this is irresistible. Earlier, matebay compared <AJ> to a (heroic) hobbit. Then, from the same source: < <AJ> reminds me of Joan of Arc.> A Hobbit Jeanne d'Arc, burned at a pint-sized stake? The mind boggles. Mr Goldsby needs protection from the encomiums of his friends. His enemies don't hit the target with such brutally memorable imagery. |

 | | Domdaniel: <A Hobbit Jeanne d'Arc, burned at a pint-sized stake> There could be a great movie in there, actually. Along the lines of the classic <I'm Miss Piggy and You're the Marquis de Sade>. Happy Christmas, Festivus, usw. |

 | | Domdaniel: <CG> I know it's an awkward time, but here's an idea for possible future implementation. Currently, as has been the case for years, if you click on the 'live games' link when there is no game on - which is most of the time - you get a simple message saying there is no live game in progress. Since the link is there, and people click on it (I had it as my original 'entry page' to CG, years ago) it should be possible to liven it up. Sic. Maybe a link to recent live games? A message saying "Sorry, there is no live game currently, but here are some we covered recently". This would be good advertising for the quality of live games, which would bring people back and maybe encourage some to become premium members. It would also benefit those who enjoy reading the kibitzes to live games, even when they're over. Thanks, and keep up the good stuff in 2012.

 | | chessgames.com: <tpstar> Thanks for that. Christmas makes a lousy time to organize a lynch mob. Let's just say that we'll revisit some of these issues in a few days. <Domdaniel> In 2011 we made some huge improvements to the Live Broadcast system, but they were almost entirely behind-the-scenes. In 2012 we will be looking forward to more front-and-center changes like the ones you described. <notyetagm> We'll be getting the rapid/blitz games soon -- sorry for the delay. <MostlyAverageJoe: Hey, CG, I remember once making a gift of CG membership by transferring some of my membership months to another user.> We used to do that whenever we were asked, but it proved to cause too many problems, so now our official stance is that "memberships are non transferable." However we did see your post in the K-Cafe and understand your motives, and think that's really big of you. With that in mind, contact us by email and we'll see what we can do to bend the rules. |
