 | | Stonehenge: <CG> Can we have a little forum for http://www.gibraltarchesscongress.c... please? A bunch of strong GMs are competing. |

 | | Stonehenge: Or is it 'a bunch is'? English isn't my mother tongue :) |

 | | Stonehenge: Alex Astanah Lopez = Alex Astaneh Lopez btw. |
|
Jan-24-12
 | | Domdaniel: What Stonehenge said. I believe 'Astaneh' with an 'e' is the correct form, though most people just know him as Alex Lopez. |

| Jan-24-12 | | Knight13: <Chessgames.com>
So currently there's a section called <Which chessgames.com users have kibitzed the most?>. Will you guys consider splitting it up to five categories: one called <Which chessgames.com users have kibitzed the most in games>, <Which chessgames.com users have kibitzed the most in player pages>, <Which chessgames.com users have kibitzed the most in chessforums>, <Which chessgames.com users have kibitzed the most in opening pages>, and <Which chessgames.com users have kibitzed the most overall?>? |

| Jan-25-12 | | Ulhumbrus: <chessgames> You have displayed the wrong game on the live games page. You have displayed moves not of of the game Giri - Aronian as named on the page but of the game Nakamura- Carlsen. |

 | | Peligroso Patzer: Nothing can speak more eloquently or persuasively of my high regard for this website than the simple fact that I use it as my home page. Nevertheless, as respects today's live coverage (which I was only able to check into post hoc following my morning at work), I must say I am disappointed, first, by the departure from the usual policy of showing the game of the tournament leader, and, second, by the misidentification of the players. I realize, of course, the appeal (beforehand) of the Nakamura vs. Carlsen matchup (which, in the event, fell far short of expectations), and perhaps there was a member vote taken that resulted in this choice. Nevertheless, care should have been taken to have the game being presented properly identified. |

 | | chessgames.com: We are very sorry for the misidentification error. We are looking into a software solution to make this sort of mishap impossible. |

 | | WannaBe: Hmmm... Minor details, some of the lines separating the posts are thicker than others... |

Jan-25-12
 | | chessgames.com: I'd really like to see a screen snapshot of that. |

| Jan-25-12 | | Knight13: <chessgames.com> The categorical split mentioned in my last post will respectfully recognize the most frequent contributors in each area. The meaning behind it is to identify who is most fluid in which category, and so on. What do you guys think? |
|
| Jan-26-12 | | Blunderdome: I also get the thicker lines, but only sometimes, and my brain has mostly stopped noticing them. But I could make a screenshot if you need more for any reason. |

 | | chessgames.com: <Blunderdome: I also get the thicker lines, but only sometimes, and my brain has mostly stopped noticing them. But I could make a screenshot if you need more for any reason.> No that's OK, WannaBe clarified it. <Knight13> We could do that, but it seems like too fine a level of detail compared to other "records" found on our statistic page. I see the interest though: some people are big kibitzers but very specific in the kind of kibitzing they participate in. |

 | | WannaBe: <chessgames.com> Looks like my browser, somehow have zoom at 105%. Internet Explorer

 | | WannaBe: <chessgames.com> Yeah, it's the zoom, I don't see it at 100% or 200%, but at 105% or 115% it is really obvious! |

 | | Domdaniel: <CG> Re that 'misidentification error' - neat phrase, btw, have you considered running for public office? - on Wednesday's live game from Wijk aan Zee: what has become of the kibitzes on the 'false' page, wrongly identified as Giri-Aronian but (at the time) showing the moves of Nakamura-Carlsen? It's unfortunate that the game you missed was a rare brilliancy, the best of the day's four black wins and maybe the game of the year. While the moves shown were a dull (and early) draw. Admittedly, much of the kibitzing - which you have apparently just deleted en masse - consisted of people saying "Hey, this is the wrong game!". But a few people were following the 'real' Aronian game and posting FENs, comments, etc. Can't any of that be preserved by relocating it? |

 | | Domdaniel: <Knight13> You'd like to see the kibitzing stats broken down into five distinct categories, right? Why stop at five? They could have <most posts with a diagram> and <most posts with actual chess analysis> ... the options are endless. I suspect I'd come first in the category of <most words posted> - I may only be in something like 8th place overall but maybe my posts are longer than average. Yeah, yawn. ;) A few years ago, the stats page had a section for <biggest chessforums> ... but CG dropped it when it led to an arms race, with certain persons 'spamming their own forums' to take the lead. |
