Feb-17-12  Shams: I can't help but surmise that chubby-cheeks is looking to avoid a bloody primary in 2013.
Feb-17-12  hms123: <TD> I demand a recount.
Feb-17-12  technical draw: <Shams> No, it's just that there only a few candidates so all should be in after laboring for 10 years here. (Maybe chessgames can come up with a t-shirt or something)
Feb-17-12  technical draw: <hms123> You're close to the 10,000 posts but you won't qualify until 2017!
Feb-17-12  Alien Math: Query the popularity contest hall of fame, who to audit 4,000 really good posts - 15,000 posts, many of them not so good?
Feb-17-12  hms123: <TD>

<You're close to the 10,000 posts but you won't qualify until 2017!>

Terrific! That reminds me of the time my 90-year-old mom's doctor told her he'd see her in six months. She was thrilled to hear the good news.

Feb-17-12  technical draw: <Alien Math> Under my system there will be no judging of the quality of the posts just mere mass is enough.

Phony Benoni: <Shams: And there should be 'electors' of some sort, because, let's be honest, not everyone's vote should count as much as, say, that of Phony Benoni>.

I should hope not, as I doubt my vote would be worth anything.

tpstar: <there will be no judging of the quality of the posts just mere mass is enough> That's what the Barangay Wesley said.

The longevity criterion is bogus as many of those candidates have left for months at a time.

Feb-17-12  TheFocus: <technical draw> <Alien Math> <Under my system there will be no judging of the quality of the posts just mere mass is enough.>

I agree with <TD> on this. It is not a popularity contest. These people have put in the time and effort, and have earned their places.

Feb-17-12  technical draw: <tpstar><The longevity criterion is bogus as many of those candidates have left for months at a time.>

That's why both longevity AND number of posts are to be considered. Actually the field is very narrow with just 2 this year and 6 next year.

Feb-17-12  Shams: <No, it's just that there only a few candidates so all should be in after laboring for 10 years here.>

Sure, for 2012 and 2013. Apres ca, le deluge. There are hundreds of us who will be at ten years in 2014.

Feb-17-12  technical draw: <There are hundreds of us who will be at ten years in 2014.>

It will be interesting to try to calculate how many of those hundreds will have reached 10,000 posts.

Feb-17-12  Shams: <Phony Benoni> I drew your name out of a hat.

Domdaniel: <King Death> The upload process is usually quicker if you (a) use an engine to generate the PGN rather than typing moves etc by hand, and (b) include the player ids, assuming they're already in the database.

Phony Benoni: <Domdaniel> Include player IDs in the PGN? I've never heard of that one before. So instead of

White: "Alekhine, Alexander"
Black: "Tomovic, Vasilije"

We could submit:

White: "Alexander Alekhine"

Black: "Vasilije Tomovic"

Don't know if I'd want to try that. Since the name wouldn't show on the Submit page, it seems too easy to make a mistake. But if it helps, I'll figure something out.

Feb-18-12  Benzol: <td> I will get to ten years long before I reach 10,000 posts.
Feb-18-12  Benzol: <td> Does the number of games you've uploaded count.

:)

Feb-18-12  Benzol: How about the number of bios you've written.

:)

Feb-18-12  Mr. President: I am today stepping down from the Presidential Office to free up the way quickly for a successor.

<chessgames.com> needs a President that enjoys the trust of not only a majority, but a broad majority of members.

Feb-18-12  brankat: Does the King of the Woods, the Admin, ever visit this forum? :-)
Feb-18-12  technical draw: <Benzol> My idea for a hall of fame is just that, an idea. The criteria for selection is up to the admins. And I suggest 10 plus 10,000 as a starting point.

(Maybe all those with baby avatars are automatically in, who knows?)

Penguincw: This might be too late, but is it possible to include the rapid games for the Petrov memorial? If so, then maybe tomorrow?

Domdaniel: <Phony> Maybe I worded that ambiguously. I append player ids in the comment space, not the actual PGN.
