Mar-06-12  brankat: <tpstar> <<Let US keep the peace.> Outstanding!>>

I thought <US> was short for the United States :-)

Mar-06-12  Nemesistic: Well i played my very own immortal game in my solitude on chokey (i was doing chokey after being caught with beard moisturiser on the yard, that i'd just hustled for another member of the cg7!)...;)

Its a kings gambit in a 60 minute "blitz" game against shredder, i think i just accidently had it beat by move 14 as it took 32 of its 60 minutes on that move! It somehow stretched the game out to 27 moves but 5 of them are suicide moves, so after having gone 2 years of never once getting close to beating Shredder on a 60 minute setting, im now declaring i beat it in a mini.. Where can i post it <chessgames.com> because people just bypass games in the cafe, and i was seriously going to ask the Life Master if i could post it at his place, but i dont think he's quite ready for popping his head out of his forum yet!! A kind of olive branch..

I need this game to be seen by better players than i, to they can tell me what i did right, because iv no idea!! What would Shredders estimated rating be in a 60 min game, anyone??

kutztown46: <Nemesistic> You could purchase a premium membership and post your game in your own forum. Then you could invite anyone you want to come over and comment on it.
Mar-06-12  Nemesistic: <kutztown46> Because it would be shutdown within the week if i opened my own forum! Plus i don't play too many "Immortals", so it would also be a bit empty once it had been heavily edited!

It's hardly the 10 cents a day that's stopping me becoming a premium member, and iv'e actually turned down the offer of a years membership from another user here who offered to pay it for me.. Think i'll just wait first and see what transpires after this temporary probation for the cg7's fallout.....if there is any at all!

  kingscrusher: Chessgames.com :

A recent innovation on our own game chat boxes at Chessworld.net may be relevant to your Relay Games here

E.g.
Judit Polgar vs Korchnoi, 2012

A lot of the comments here are without Move Context.

The Simple solution when relaying and focusing on a key game, is to stamp each comment with the current move number being relayed if possible.

E.g. If someone comments on move 7 on a relayed game "White looks good here" , you get currently:

"White looks good here"

And someone looking later at the Kibitzing of this game will not have a single clue.

WHat I simply suggest therefore is:

7. "White looks good here"

Where "7." was auto-stamped.

Hope you understand this suggestion - it would auto-contextualise comments on the Relay-Focus Games.

Cheers, K

Mar-06-12  TheFocus: <Nemesistic> Post your game in my Forum if you want. You are more than welcome.

As for any fall-out on the CG7, if the Troop maintains a good attitude, there will be no fallout.

I monitored the site during suspension. There were a couple of negative remarks made, but mostly they were from posters that don't amount to much anyway. It was actually very quiet.

If anyone is going to ruin the peace, it will be the <Unnamed One>.

Mar-06-12  brankat: <Nemesistic> <..and i was seriously going to ask the Life Master if i could post it at his place, but i dont think he's quite ready for popping his head out of his forum yet!! A kind of olive branch..>

Very kind of You indeed. In the meanwhile You're welcome to post the Immortal game in my forum.

Another idea: You could try the Phillips, or the Davidson game page. For quality comparison purposes.

Mar-06-12  Nemesistic: Cheers <brankat> and <Thefocus>, thats much appreciated and i will definately take one of you up on your kind offer.. I'll post it soon.
Mar-06-12  TheFocus: <Nemesistic> Post it in both!

kingscrusher: <twinlark> Hi there - system message soon about it. I am quite excited about it because minimal complaints so far and many expressed it is useful. Maybe the option to turn it off soon too if someone doesn't want them. Do you think it might be useful for relayed games here ?!
Mar-06-12  TheFocus: <TheFocus> <It will be interesting to see who squawks the loudest. (I have a good guess though.)>
Mar-06-12  twinlark: <kingscruscher>

<Do you think it might be useful for relayed games here ?!>

I think so.

It might look awkward at first but once kibitzers know what it means, auto-contextualisation would certainly help people understand each others' commentaries better if they knew to which game moves they refer, especially after the game.

My opinion FWIW is that it would work and I'd like to see it given a go.

WannaBe: auto-consextualization?! Is that word allowed on a family web-site?!
Mar-07-12  brankat: CG is not a family web-site :-)
Mar-07-12  hedgeh0g: Perhaps I'm in the minority regarding this issue, but I can guarantee that this will not be the last incident involving AJ. He will continue to provoke, antagonise and insult people and they will continue to respond in turn.

The fact that he typically proceeds to post here, offering his "support" in "cleaning up" CG is laughable. If anything, this is a tacit admission that he is aware of his numerous guideline violations, which makes one wonder why he committed them in the first place.

Mar-07-12  pulsar: CG, is it your policy to ban users from kibitzing without warning or explanation? I'm asking in behalf of a certain user who has his own page here.
Mar-08-12  Blunderdome: I don't see why anyone would want to use this page to predict who's going to misbehave next.

Let's give everyone a chance to make a fresh start. Whether you're right or not, there's no bonus points for guessing it beforehand.

Mar-08-12  brankat: We don't have enough Prediction Contest pages on this site :-)

Annie K.: I like <kingscrusher>'s idea of move-stamping the live game comments too.

There is already some similar feature in use, the "team-stamp" of kibitzing on completed cg team games - that little black or white marker clarifying to which team's forum a comment was originally posted, after the posts are unified. Maybe that technology could be adapted?

Alternatively, those automatic move-marker posts that we have on team and World games could be applied to live games as well. :)

Mar-08-12  hms123: <Annie> You are a genius:

<Alternatively, those automatic move-marker posts that we have on team and World games could be applied to live games as well.>

Mar-08-12  benjinathan: I think the move stamping is trickier than it looks. For example if I want to comment on move 20 and I spend a bit of time composing and when I post the players have blitzed moves and are now on 25, then what? What mose is "stamped". This is an issue especially since the game is not actually live; we see changes to the game in two minute chunks (I think).

OhioChessFan: I agree <benji> And there are typically time delays where we'll get 5 moves behind and they all fill in at once. One low tech way to address it is for the kibitzers to simply type "W25" or "B31" I know such things have been suggested before, but it never seems to happen.

WannaBe: <benjinathan> The page of live-games auto-refresh every 2 minutes, however, user can manual refresh as often as they wish. (F5 in Internet Explorer does the trick)

I understand what you are saying, but, usually by move 20, the players are taking a long time thinking, so I don't think we would see your scenario very often, unless the moves are absolutely forced.

In earlier stage of the game, where moves are blitzed out of the game, people are usually kibitz'n about ECO and which previous game is followed.

My 5 cents (inflation, you know.)

Annie K.: Of course perfection is impossible, but the issue of time taken to compose messages is a well-known one, so I doubt anybody would be very confused by such things. And if someone should be extremely nervous about being "misunderstood", just as today, they can still post again to say 'uh, the players got in 5 moves while my previous post was still at the chemists'... ;)

Overall, move markers *would* still be very helpful. :)

(Besides, when players go on a blitz spree, you'll be likely to see several move marker posts in a row, without any kibitzing in between - that alone should be a strong hint of what happened, which we don't have today.)
