 | | Domdaniel: "fulminating arboreal qliphoth" = "the angry tree-dwelling shells of the dead" ... eh?? More rhyming slang:
ughaibu = caribou
domdaniel = spaniel |
|
| Sep-11-13 | | ughaibu: Domdaniel: That would be ugh=caribou and Dom=spaniel. |
|
| Sep-11-13 | | ughaibu: @#$%! "Fulminating arboreal Qliphoth" is rhyming slang for Singapore! |
|
| Sep-11-13 | | hms123: <ughaibu> Not at all. |
|
| Sep-11-13 | | MarkFinan: Dom. To be real honest I dont want him to leave either! He makes me laugh :-)
But.......On a whole, he’s been here 10yr, and I can understand why nobody likes him. EOD!!!!!!!!!!:-) lol |

| Sep-12-13 | | twinlark: Hi <ceegee>
Are you any closer to fixing that little anomaly in formatting wherein a return/enter stroke won't create a new line in a message or a bio if the original line is too long? |
|
| Sep-13-13 | | Boomie: <chessgames.com>
We would like to add a link to the Analysis Tree in the Sticky for the Williams game but we need special permission to add an outside link. |
|
| Sep-13-13 | | MarkFinan: Ughaibu.. Scarper means, get lost, on your way, do one....quickly, where i come from, which aint too far from Sheffield.
And i havent a Scooby do what it could possibly be rhyming slang for. |
|
| Sep-13-13 | | DoctorD: It's Dr. Kenneth Regan's birthday today, but it doesn't appear on the front page? Can that be fixed? I submitted an original chess problem in honor of the day. |
|
| Sep-13-13 | | WinKing: <chessgames> I am trying to add our Analysis Tree to the 'Sticky' in the GM Challenge Game. I keep getting the error message below. I would please like permission to add the Analysis Tree to the 'Sticky'. <ERROR
Links outside of chessgames.com require special permission.> The link to the tree is:
http://www.jepflast.com/chesstree/w... |

 | | Annie K.: <cg> since the Team players use the Analysis Tree in every game AFAIK, maybe you should authorize its domain for adding to the sticky automatically, and save all these recurring panicked requests. ;) |
|
| Sep-13-13 | | Tomlinsky: Hello there CeeGee. Just to let you know that the first four entries in section D of the 'Chess Player Directory', at least, are not linking. For fairly self-evident reasons they throw an "Unknown player 'fubar%27fubar'" error. D'AMORE, Carlo [unknown player] D'ANDRE, Emile [unknown player] D'ARRUDA, Ricardo D [unknown player] D'COSTA, Lorin [unknown player] |

 | | Annie K.: <cg>...also, the World game's comments are still visible to the uninitiated. ;) The more enthusiastic players wouldn't know that, since they've long since signed up, but I haven't registered (yet, anyway), and I can still see their game page posts in both the Search Kibitzing results and the Activity of Favorites page. |

 | | chessgames.com: <ERROR Links outside of chessgames.com require special permission.> We've given a special pass to jepflast.com which now allows you to link to that site without getting that nasty error. I just added the site to the Sticky (put it up top) but feel free to adjust it as needed. <Kenneth Regan> We put his birthday wishes on the homepage now. |

 | | chessgames.com: <Tomlinsky> <Annie K> Thanks. |

| Sep-13-13 | | WinKing: <chessgames.com: I just added the site to the Sticky (put it up top) but feel free to adjust it as needed.> Thanks <chessgames>! |

| Sep-14-13 | | Memethecat: Any idea's why I'm still seeing Ads? Paid my dues yesterday & all 'full features' are working, just a few profile specific (chess) advertisements appearing. Mark Finnan - Scarper; Scapa Flow = go?!. Just a guess. I like Doolally (mad, insane), apparently named after a small town outside Bombay called Dewally (or something like that), it had a mental hospital were British troops could recuperate. So when they was losing the plot they'd go Dewally. |
|
| Sep-14-13 | | Memethecat: Oh! My avatar has vanished too. |
|
| Sep-14-13 | | Thanh Phan: Welcome back <Memethecat> have not seen you in a while |
|
Sep-14-13
 | | Domdaniel: <Memethe cat> Yes, welcome back. Your (Irish flag?) avatar is, um, interesting. Or is it Ivory Coast? That *doolally* town in India was called Deolali, I think. |

 | | chessgames.com: <Memethecat> Hi Meme, welcome back! When an account lapses from premium to regular and then goes premium again, there are a few changes: 1. Your avatar goes back to the pool. If you can find it in the gallery you can take it again. If you can't, email us a facsimile (chess@chessgames.com) and I can make a clone for you. 2. Your premium-only preferences are unset, specifically these three: "Do not display sidebar advertisements.", "Show sacrifices in all search results." and "Activate your chessforum." To fix these issues, just go to your Chessgames Preferences Page page and click them on again. |

Sep-14-13
 | | Domdaniel: <Meme & Mark> According to Chambers Dictionary, 'scarper' has two possible sources: (1) Italian 'scappare', to escape, and (as you said!) World War I rhyming slang, Scapa Flow = Go. |
|
| Sep-14-13 | | Memethecat: <Thanh,CG,Dom> Thx for the kind welcome. Think I've paid before expiry date in past so things continued as normal, anyway, got beloved avatar back & turned ads off, so alls well. Pleasant surprise that Scapa Flow is a possible root of scarper, it being a guess & all. |
|
| Sep-15-13 | | Beholder: Two links on the front page:
World Junior Championship (2013) and
<World Junior Championship (Girls)> are identical. No way to access the Girls section. |
|
| Sep-15-13 | | MarkFinan: Im just saying hello my fellow northern bredren, Meme.. So delete this if im cluttering your forum. Alright Meme, il visit you when/if you open your forum up.
