Oct-25-13  TheFocus: <davide2013>< Thank you TheFocus, that definitely worked, now I can rest my eyes, and see the chessboard better.>

Please don't thank me. It was <Annie K.>'s post that led me down that path. She deserves the credit.

Oct-26-13  hedgeh0g: 70-30 split, then.
Oct-26-13  Karpova: <chessgames.com>

A long while ago I submitted a game <Albert Becker vs Hans Mueller> and I just saw that I forgot the t in Albert in the pgn.

chessgames.com: <Karpova> A number of people have been waiting quite a while; let me process a few of them and thanks for pointing out the "Alber" issue.

<Screen sizing> True, the best way to make the diagram bigger on Guess-the-Move (and the Chessgames Challenge, and Live Broadcasts, a few other site features) is to use your built-in browser controls.

<JFQ> <you could promote the User: analysis forum to "official eternal status" and use the fab analysis header you made?> I think we might be getting ahead of ourselves there: there are reasons we didn't use it. Let's first work on making Pinocchio a real boy.

chessgames.com: <gauer: With an Olympiad that has a qualifier and a final cross-table (7 (prelim) + 13 (final), as in 1966), when updating the round and date information on those games, should a round (x) of a final group be labelled as (x) or as (x+7)? >

I don't really have an opinion in that; it seems like both methods have their problems. How does OlimpBase do it?

Oct-28-13  MarkFinan: <TheFocus> <Every post you make, ask yourself if I would approve of it or report it.>

I realise old foci is having some sort of crisis, but I'm just letting you know he said the above to me. If he now starts following me around (as opposed to AJ his new buddy! ) doing his impression of a referee he'll just cause more trouble! Unless he's been given a job at this website, I find what he just said to be a bit creepy.. and he's behaving very strange too!

Phony Benoni: As for round numbers in Olympiad games: Olimpbase treats "Preliminaries" and "Finals" sections as separate tournaments. Thus players might have both rounds "1-7" and "1-13".

To make this work, the Event Name would have to be standardized for each section, which in our system would mean separate Historical Tournament Pages. Despite the work involved, this does seem a better way to go. An artificial round numbering system could be created, but how could a legible crosstable be created when some teams play twice?

Oct-30-13  Karpova: <chessgames.com>

Thanks for processing the submitted games! A curious fact is that the pgn carried the dates (visible in Chess Viewer Deluxe) but the Administrative Game Editor sometimes shows the date as 0000.00.00 anyway. In these cases, I added the pgn info there manually. I just wanted to bring this to your attention as it appears a bit strange.

chessgames.com: <0000.00.00> Oops! When I'm done uploading games I am supposed to run another program that does some post-processing, and that is one of the wrinkles that the post-processor addresses.

I just ran the post-processor now. I think they should be all fixed now. Please check and let me know if they aren't.

Nov-01-13  WinKing: <chessgames> a few of us over at the GM Challenge game were wondering if GM Williams was charged with an 'extension' or not for delaying his last move. In [CONDITIONS] under the voting stats it still shows 5 extensions. Please let us know - thank you.

Oh I'm terribly sorry, I didn't notice that Simon overstepped the time control on that move. Yes, he will go down to 4.

You probably received (or will soon receive) a Chessgames newsletter for the upcoming Anand-Carlsen match. This newsletter contained a sidebar that may have informed you that your account would expire in a few days.

PLEASE IGNORE that information on that sidebar; it was most likely an error. Furthermore, please do not use the renewal link that was provided. We will be emailing all premium members a follow-up that contains corrections to these errors.

We truly apologize for any confusion caused. If you require any assistance, please contact chess@chessgames.com.
