chessgames.com: <whiteshark: Could you please have a look at the candidate moves of the <Chessgames Challenge!>. Thanks.>

We fixed the variations on that move.

I hope this doesn't sound snooty, but people who can't express their move in the standard algebraic notation have no guarantee that their move will be counted.

Annie K.: <cg> not really a glitch, I'd say it's pretty good parsing. Links are often posted as a part of a sentence, where the period at the end *should* be excluded - and that happens a lot more often than people trying to link to the odd username that happens to end with a period. Let it be. :)

Would you consider dropping the <.> if the cg folks could transfer your account to the new name? <Annie K> I presume.

Annie K.: <hms> I could consider it, but I'm rather used to my handle. And it's not that much of a problem, especially since <Switch> solved it for us, as <WannaBe> posted. :)

<CIO> no worries. :)

BTW, the audio project here has considerably more names than my YouTube channel, because I've uploaded lots of files here that I haven't made videos for yet. You can keep up with new uploads here: http://www.chessgames.com/audio/

<cg> has been talking about making a more user-friendly audio page one of these days, too... ;)

Nov-13-13  hms123: <Annie> That's obviously fine with me. You're the only one who really matters in this situation.

Thanks for the mention, but this particular workaround has nothing to do with me (I think <minasina> introduced it). I did show a number of other solutions to this problem :)

Nov-14-13  LIFE Master AJ: #1.) I want to be able to kibitz on the Borislav Ivanov page ... although it looks like his goose is already cook. (Thank Dlugy.)

#2.) Everytime I open a game page, I get this warning in RED that the app is being blocked ... I have to check the box and agree to run the app anyway. (For the game replayer.)

Is there anyway to get this dog-gone thing signed so that it won't get blocked and this stupid warning message will go away?

Nov-14-13  TheFocus: Is there any reason to continue to keep <AJ>'s game pages blocked?

There will be no Troop vs. <AJ> activity. That part of <CG> history is done.

Violations can be censured if the Admins will be open to complaints. Why not a trial period? If there are any problems, you would be able to identify, and deal with them, and the transgressors.

Nov-14-13  TheFocus: Admins, look for an e-mail today. Not only are you punishing him, but also his opponents.

This is ridiculous.

Nov-14-13  TheFocus: And please don't tell me that there will problems if you do this. Grow a set and deal with those problems.

Yes, we all have to suffer under that for now. The only other option is to pick the default viewer, pgn4web.

<Is there anyway to get this dog-gone thing signed so that it won't get blocked and this stupid warning message will go away?>

Believe me, if it was a simple matter of shelling out $178/year for a digital signature we'd do it a minute and nobody would have to put up with that pop-up again. Unfortunately it's not nearly that simple.

I had a good chat with Nikolai (CVD programmer) about that subject and the future of Java. I was under the impression that having an applet signed would offer all of the protections that Java normally has in place, and on top of that the layer of protection that you know that the code comes from Chessgames.com and hasn't been modified by an evil hacker.

This is not the case whatsoever. Having an applet "signed" makes it sound more secure, it actually makes it much less secure. Signed applets are like EXE files. Therefore we probably will not be interested in a signed version of CVD at all.

Nov-14-13  MarkFinan: <There will be no Troop vs. <AJ> activity. That part of <CG> history is done.>

I hope it is too. But who exactly are you speaking for, apart from yourself? I think you're on the wind up, mate.

Nov-14-13  LIFE Master AJ: Soooo, the app will be blocked in a future release of Java?
Nov-14-13  TheFocus: chessgames.com: <TheFocus: Is there any reason to continue to keep <AJ>'s game pages blocked?> <Yes, there is.>

This roughly translates as: "Because we said so."

chessgames.com: I think a better translation would be, "We've been over this subject many times in previous pages and we don't feel like getting into it again at this time."
Nov-14-13  Shams: The cost-benefit analysis makes it an easy call.
Nov-14-13  davide2013: Sorry to bother, but the engine analyzing games proposed for Guess the Move, maybe is malfunctioning, because from Sunday it made only 2 games. Or maybe the computer is busy with something else?

  chessgames.com: Hi Davide,

Sorry about that—we've slowed down GTM new game processing to a crawl during the WCC, because we didn't want the server to get overloaded. I put it back on full throttle during the first rest day but forgot to do that today.
