Sure enough, "noone" is there.

Tabanus: A quick glance at the stopword list and I immediately saw two common Norwegian first names:

Are and Else!

Nov-22-13  davide2013: I was trying to search for a player in Guess The Move: Judit Polgar. I tried with Polgar Judit, with the "," in the middle, and so on. But everytime it takes out all the games played by someone whose last name was Polgar (the other sisters, and a I. Polgar). Is there any way to refine the search with just the player I want?

SwitchingQuylthulg: In this particular case, just searching for Judit should do it. There are few if any other Judits in the GTM database :)

More generally, Guess-the-Move doesn't allow searching by player ID; presumably there's a good reason why.

Nov-22-13  davide2013: Yes, it worked, thanks SwitchingQuylthulg. I didn't try "Judit" maybe because I thought it wasn't respectful enough :-)
Nov-22-13  Abdel Irada: <davide2013: Yes, it worked, thanks SwitchingQuylthulg. I didn't try "Judit" maybe because I thought it wasn't respectful enough :-)>

My concern is not with Judit (as <SQ> says, the name is uncommon), but with the many other players affected by such glitches whose ill fortune it is to have more common praenomina.

Nov-22-13  Yopo: World Seniors

Remainig two rounds to the outcome, the title is between 4 players: the former champions Vaisser and Kristiansen and the GMs Balashov and Hulak.
Other well-known names as Vasiukov, Kupreichik and Suba are 1,0 pt behind .

Nov-22-13  Abdel Irada: Apropos of "Kibitzing Tricks", I've found that URLs are more complicated to handle than one might expect, thanks to some oddities in the site's parsing.

In particular, posters should be advised of the workaround for links containing parentheses (common in Wikipedia pages): Replace "(" with "%28" and ")" with "%29." If this is not done, the parenthetical material will be excluded from the link.

Also, the site automatically replaces strings associated with common profanities with asterisks, even in links, with results that may be amusing or exasperating, depending on one's expectations. (For this, I'm not sure what — if anything — the solution might be, other than to avoid posting such links.

I'm sure other kibitzers can add plenty of other examples.

WannaBe: Oh, yeah, once I wanted to post an article, but the link had the company's name, and it's Matsushita.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <WannaBe> CG's Systematic Obscenity Auto-Purger is smarter these days, and no longer censors words like Matsushita. As we can see :)

As for bypassing the SOAP in links, the same technique that works with parentheses works every bit as well with profanity:

Nov-22-13  MarkFinan: I've been trying to look through games but they aren't loading! Not complaining, just letting you know it's never happened before.

Nov-22-13  davide2013: Sorry to bother again, few days ago I noticed that it took 2 weeks to process some games for Guess the Move. The explanation was that Carlsen or Anand needed all the computer power possible, from the result I guess Carlsen used chessgames.com extensively. But now that the World Championship is finished, I still see the queue in Guess the Move kind of blocked. :-) Maybe it is time to cut the connection with Carlsen's computer! :-)

  jessicafischerqueen: Good morning.

Thanks so much for putting this banner back up in a great spot on the front page: Tournament Index

I also noticed you'd already brought it back during the XTREME CHESS world championship, thank you for doing that.

I thought <GM Gormally> and <The Gingerbread Man> were the best live analysts you've chosen so far.

Great choices, well done and thanks for that too.

Nov-24-13  Kinghunt: Can we get Anand-Carlsen World Championship (2013) and Anand-Gelfand World Chess Championship (2012) pages updated to match all the other world championship pages? They just need the bar at the bottom showing colors and results for each game.

chessgames.com: Big tournament starts today: FIDE World Team Championship (2013).
Nov-26-13  davide2013: I don't know if it is possible, but it would be interesting to have a link in the "openings" menu to the "Guess the Move" games played with the opening which is explored, because sometimes the ECO system is not precise enough, and doesn't cover the line a player could be searching for. I can make an example for "uncommon openings" A00 which are all lumped together, while maybe one would like to train only on the games opened with 1.b4 However I can make the same example for the Alapin which after 1.e4,c5; 2.c3 there are two main answers (which in chessgames.com database generate 3000+ games each, but in my database is a larger number) Pd5 and Nf6, which likely would deserve an ECO key just for themselves.
