| Jan-22-15 | | Overgod: I'd like to address the people who insist that ignoring <tolengoy>/<lainulo> aka Glenn Salem is the solution to his trolling: I think that we need to look beyond our personal comforts. There are people who view these pages without having a chessgames account. They read this guy's fanatical nonsense and they see hardly anybody addressing him -- it doesn't look good. On top of this, the individuals he belittles and slanders (such as Carlsen) are not here to defend themselves. It's a moral obligation to strongly discourage this guy from carrying on. Actions speak louder than words.
We haven't seen Glenn in here for a while, and I take at least part of the responsibility for that. Ever since I exposed his chess.com account and laughed at his pathetic chess skills, he's gone unusually quiet and has left these boards. And if he returns, I am simply going to remind him and everybody else that he's a lousy chess player who is in no position to comment on other professional players -- especially as his comments are defamatory, nasty and arguably libelous. When you see somebody on the street being beaten up, the least you can do is call for assistance, if you can't assist yourself. Turning the other way is not the morally right thing to do. And turning the other way on trolling is not a solution. Getting angry and overreacting is not a solution either. But these people need to have their egos brought down. In Glenn's case, I tore his ego down to a point where he no longer found it enjoyable to be confronted with uncomfortable truths in public. If he returns, I will repost his chess.com profile, which will shut him up again. The guy obviously craves attention and believes that W.So's success is a personal success for himself as well. He needs to be strongly discouraged from that attitude, so that he no longer feeds off the wrong energy hurled his way. |

I rather doubt that having them see a member make fun of another member for being a weak chess player, counts as an improvement over standard-issue trolling. The internet wasn't launched yesterday, and trolling and the best ways to deal with it didn't develop yesterday either. By the year 2015, I'd expect most people to understand the situation when they see trolls being ignored. |

Fibonacci is what happens: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987 ... (x^2 - x - 1 = 0) >
These are the coefficients of 1/(x^2-x-1) which takes into account the wabbits' need to mature before mating. Fibonacci obviously loved wabbits as none of them ever died. |
