Feb-09-15  Abdel Irada: All of life is a playground for them, and every person a plaything.

Never forget that.

Domdaniel: <Sokrates> and <achieve>: thank you both for your comments. I am not, I think, lacking in the humour department -- but I really *hate* it when people use LOL and ROFL to laugh or sneer at others.

Such Sado-Lollery is just ugly.

OK, then. I would like to formally notify you of one such problem/bug: it's called <bulibug> aka <lainulo>.

Yep, it's a troll. It is no longer just a question of relentlessly posting deliberately unpopular opinions. This poster - as evidenced by posts in this forum - wants to cause maximum trouble. A twisted sense of its own rights provides fuel.

Suggestion to improve the site?

Thumbs down. Get rid of him.

Feb-09-15  rookpawn101: <thegoodanarchist:<rookpawn101: ...I am also an active member on some pro-wresling forums ...>OMG this is even funnier than<Sokrates>mechanical watch website! Hey Bubba, some troll is talking<college>wrasslin in the discussion forum! Well, Skeeter, lets us just put that rascal on da iggy list!>

I was just trying to share my experience when it comes to discussions on internet forums. I do object on being referred as a 'troll' as I am certain that I have done nothing to earn that moniker, and thought my earlier post was not meant to be funny I am glad you were able to get a few laughs out of it.

Feb-09-15  Appaz: I checked out a few of the most troll infested pages without being logged in and it seems the PITA score is really working great so far: I have not seen so little activity from the troll in years!

It's a bit to early to conclude, and the troll might just regrouping, but this new functionality of the ignore list seem to be a great success - a brilliant idea!

Congratulations Daniel Freeman and cg.com!

From my point of view we now have very healthy relationship again and that makes me very happy.

It would be interesting if you could give us a little update on how it looks from your side, if not right away, maybe in a few days or weeks.

I'm just one big, fat smile now :)

Feb-09-15  MarkFinan: I think if you've been banned a few times previously (ahem!?) and you're finally allowed ONE handle, yet continue to create other handles to agree with your original handle (!?) then there's a problem. Personally I don't mind Tolly, he's kinda been on manual ignore for a while now. I think if someone isn't *personally* addressing you and you don't like what they're saying then just ignore them. 90% of you are anonymous handles anyway, no one's affecting your life away from the site, if someone bothers you or repeatedly and unwantedly posts in your forum then use the ignore button. Tolly's obviously a lost cause with issues, but he's still harmless.
Feb-09-15  Appaz: <<MarkFinan> Tolly's obviously a lost cause with issues, but he's still harmless.> I've seen several posters mentioning he has influenced their view on the results of Wesley So and also their view on Filipinos in general.

It's my impression that he also had a negative impact on several kibitzers view on cg.com, including me, and he has also trashed several tournament pages with his off topic spamming.

No, not harmless but very, very harmful.

  chessgames.com: Thanks, Appaz.

As soon as the system was instigated, a new account (which many suspect to be another face of another member) was *automatically* flagged by the system and placed on restricted kibitzing. The account isn't banned, but at two posts per day there is a limit to how much damage it can do.

I think that's proof that the idea works. A new account (presumed to be a clone of another account, but who knows?) suddenly is denied the privilege of running his mouth off all day long. And no administration was required; it might have happened in the dead of night.

There's still a lot to say about this and a lot of valid concerns, but for now we're watching it very carefully.

Domdaniel: I agree with most of what <MarkF> says. Which is, I suppose, ironic, as a few years ago Mark made offensive and totally inaccurate accusations about me. But I know he regrets this, and has long since accepted he was in the wrong.

At the time, some friends of mine were horrified that I was willing to forgive somebody who had said such things (there's no need to go into detail now, and it's all water under the bridge). But I could see that Mark was a genuine person who had made a genuine mistake, and who apologised ... so there was no point in holding a grudge.

This is the big difference with the current situation. <lainulo>-etc does *not* strike me as a genuine person making a mistake. It's possible, I guess, that he really believes what he says ... but his primary intention is still just to cause trouble. And there should be no place here for somebody like that.

Annie K.: Well, I would miss him. Maybe enough that I might even find myself going to pages of tournaments GM So isn't playing in, and posting "Wesley will win this!" now and then. ;p

I often find his posts funny, in small doses - I certainly don't mind having the <small doses> part enforced, but I think that's a quite sufficient solution as is. :)

Feb-09-15  lainulo: dear cg. i believe i have received the following message in error. pls. rectify the error. thanks.

RESTRICTED KIBITZING
So many people have you on their ignore list, that your posts here are now severely limited. If you wait, you will be able to post again.

TIPS: Try not to aggravate people to the point where they ignore you. Post in appopriate forums where your contributions will be more well received. Spend more time and thought composing your posts. If you believe you have received this message in error please contact chess@chessgames.com.

Thank you.

lainulo: <red moves in a tournament magnus is making in one game alone. > let me count them:

http://www.chessbomb.com/arena/2015...

25. Rf3 <h4>
27. Kh2 <Rg5>
31. Qe1 <Rb5>
33. Re7 <Nf6>
35. Be6 <Rf6>
37. Qe1 <Qd6>
40. Rxe7 <Rxb4>
53. Kf4 <Ra2>
54. Rxb5 <Rf2+>
56. Ra5 <Nd7>
59. Be4 <Nxd3>
64. Rxa7+< Ke6>
65. Ra6+ <Kf7>

magnus needs to learn how to emulate an engine's move. it's high time he enlists Wesley's services for the second time to show him how it's done.

Feb-09-15  lainulo: if i do not receive a response, I would deem it that the message i received is not a glitch in the system...it is in fact a a diminishment of my inalienable right to free speech. It' seemed it has been abducted by an alien in the name of daniel freeman. it's ironic that this guy calls himself the same thing that he now denies a member of the cg community- freedom.

goodbye daniel <destroyer of freedom> freeman- i.e. for now. I will be back.

Feb-09-15  rogge: Thank you <cg>. The PITA solution seems to work perfectly.
Feb-09-15  thegoodanarchist: <Sokrates: <chessgames.com: <a site that discusses watches, primarily mechanical wrist-watches> I too am curious how one would go about trolling such a site.> Why? Is that the issue?

<thegoodanarchist> various remarks.

I understand it's beyond someone's comprehension that anyone could be passionate about watches. And if you don't understand something why not ridicule and twist it, so that it becomes obvious to all, how silly it is? I thought it would be self-evident that I ONLY mentioned the site as an EXAMPLE of how to deal with trolls. I wanted to contribute constructively to the issue - not discuss watches or feed people whose day is made by ridiculing others. In vain, obviously, so my short presence at this forum has come to an end.>

I apologize. I meant no offense - I was only trying to find humor in something new. I thought it interesting to engage in a thought experiment regarding something new and curious to me.

I will make no further comments on your enthusiasm for watches or anything else for that matter.

You are by no means a troll, and again I find myself in a position of needing to apologize, so to you as well as <Sokrates>: I am sorry. I meant no offense.

Again, it was just a thought experiment on my part, as to how some hypothetical person (not you in particular) might go about trolling such a website.

I thought everyone would be able to see the humor in my comments, but I was wrong. I will shut up about it, at least in writing on any chessgames.com page.
