Stonehenge: A Stonehenge avatar would be nice. Although I like my kitten as well.

WannaBe: I think for April 1st, we should, every 30 minutes, give regular member a Wabbit avatar, double the amount of numbers each time.

Then, when clock strikes midnight for April 2nd, all would return to normal.

I like this funny idea. Be a hoot!!

Penguincw: I'm going to switch topics.

I submitted this correction a while ago, but still haven't seen change. This game (Y Bacallao Alonso vs E Espinosa, 2015) does not belong at the Capablanca Memorial, as it's part of the <Premier Group> of the tournament. Thanks. :)

Annie K.: Heh, I actually know of a site where avatars get switched to a special set of "April 1st avatars" on every April 1st (and then restored to normal, of course). It could be fun, ackshly. ;)

I also know of a(nother) site where they do have an avatar upload feature, but the avatar won't appear until it's approved by an admin - which is not very different from the mail-it-in route we have here, just a little more streamlined.

Jun-26-15  Hasse Eriksson: Hi!

This is the message when try to flip the board,

I may be misremembering, but I thought there was one in the past. (However, the kitten is hard to beat.)

Sounds like a happy medium that might save a bit of work.

FSR: Are you going to add recently submitted games anytime soon? I have submitted games as far back as May 9 that still aren't in the database.

Jun-27-15  heuristic: this game :
W Martin vs Zukertort, 1876

is in the opening explorer twice :
Opening Explorer

Opening Explorer

the first one is incorrect

we need the "correction slips" form for opening explorer!

FSR: For heaven's sake, make F Jenni vs P Nabavi, 2004 GOTD already. It's surely one of the most beautiful games in the database.

  FSR: Cool! Thanks!
Jun-28-15  Abdel Irada: Thank you for calling that game to my attention, <FSR>. It really is quite remarkable for White's material insouciance.

Jun-28-15  Abdel Irada: I see a well-known troll and creator of sock accounts is now stalking <ljfyffe> on the Kibitzer's Cafe, using three different new accounts.

<cg.com>, don't you think it might be wise to change the registration process to make it harder for trolls to create sock accounts?

Other sites do, and it does help.

offramp: Today's game of the day, M Krasenkow vs Nakamura, 2007, is an English Opening: Agincourt Defense.

October 25th of this year will be the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Azincourt. So if another Agincourt Defence is in the pipeline, that might be a good day to let it out.

Jun-28-15  Pyke: Hi <Chessgames>,

is there any chance of getting some Live Games from the ongoing Sparkassen Chess Meeting in Dortmund?

Would be pretty awesome ... You know, I need to get my fix ;-)

offramp: While I was popping by I noticed this post from <Abdel Irada>

<I see a well-known troll and creator of sock accounts is now stalking <ljfyffe> on the Kibitzer's Cafe, using three different new accounts...>

So I had a look at User: ljfyffe's posts, to see what was going on. But poor User: ljfyffe only posts to the stupid Rogoff page, the moronic Odd Liepage and the colossaly stupid Kibitzer's' Cafe.

It reminded me of a phrase my old Irish father told me:

<"If you eat with the devil, you need a long spoon.">

Perhaps User: ljfyffe should broaden his horizons as regards CHESS, and narrow them in the notoriously TROLLING area LOL!! ✌

Jun-28-15  Abdel Irada: The entire site is a trolling area, thanks to certain lawless users, whom you choose to defend by ridiculing those who complain of them. I think this says something about your character.

chessgames.com: <is there any chance of getting some Live Games from the ongoing Sparkassen Chess Meeting in Dortmund?> Unfortunately we won't be covering the first few rounds, but stay tuned.

<don't you think it might be wise to change the registration process to make it harder for trolls to create sock accounts?> I am pretty well acquainted with the different kind of registration pages websites offer, and don't know what you mean that they make it "harder for trolls." We require a validated email; we refuse services like trashmail.com, we make them enter a Captcha. What else can we do, require them to mail us a photograph of their passport?

<October 25th of this year will be the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Azincourt.> Thanks for the head's up, I'm marking my calendar!
