Sep-22-15  MarkFinan: Pretty boring question for you but I'm interested in it. Who's the female in Miss Scarlett's avatar? She reminds me of someone.

Check It Out: CG, I'm sure this has been commented on before, but it would be nice to have the functionality to bookmark where you last read on pages and forums. Any chance that's in the works down the line?

chessgames.com: <Who's the female in Miss Scarlett's avatar?> No idea; it's clip art. Our first Librarian needed an avatar, so I picked three or four "brainy looking women" and added them to the gallery. She picked one (http://www.chessgames.com/av/face_1...) and that's one of the others.

<it would be nice to have the functionality to bookmark where you last read on pages and forums.> Yes, it would. I'll think about how it could be implemented. Because it's somewhat resource intensive it might be a premium feature.

chessgames.com: <Do I recall correctly that a games collection has a limit of 400?> Yes, I think that's the current limit. If you really need to make a 1000 game collection you can always have Part I, Part II, Part III, etc.

The total number of game collections is limited to 1000 I believe.

Sep-23-15  whiteshark: <<Do I recall correctly that a games collection has a limit of 400?> Yes, I think that's the current limit.> fyi

<500> became lately the new 400, e.g. Game Collection: 96_02_QR endgames --> Heavy pieces in action ;)

chessgames.com: That's right, I remember now, somebody sweet-talked me into 500. But that's IT, I say, no more!

It can't go any higher simply because there is no paging mechanism so all of the games are spilled onto one page. And 500 makes for a pretty long page, arguably too long.

MissScarlett: 500 is more than enough. I'm putting together a mega-collection of all Capa's surviving simul games in chronological order. It'll be so good, Winter will be spitting chips.
Sep-23-15  Alien Math: <Who's the female in Miss Scarlett's avatar?>

vintage ads: women.
I recently found a super neat blog that catalogues vintage ads – Found in Mom’s Basement. https://hellorissy.wordpress.com/ta...

  chessgames.com: <spitting chips> Wonderful.

Small comment: you had a couple of games ending like this

38. Nh6+ Kf8 39. Rxh7 (.../1-0)

That confuses our software, it's not even regarded as legitimate PGN. Preferred is this:

38. Nh6+ Kf8 39. Rxh7 {...} 1-0

  kingscrusher: Hi Chessgames.com

Passing thought: for the World cup page, it might be a good idea to show the max Round game found for each player

World Cup (2015)

So you would check for the highest numbers to see more easily who is in the knockout still.

e.g. Caruana (4.2), Aronian (2.3) etc

It would also show when the players were knocked out more easily.

Cheers, K

If for some reason you want to erase all traces of your old account contact me by email and I can take care of that as well.

chessgames.com: <kingscrusher> <it might be a good idea to show the max Round game found for each player>

That would be very sophisticated and useful, yes. As things stand people just go to Wikipedia to see the latest bracket standings. I've always wondered if there could be a one-size-fits-all solution to knockout events, even automatically making bracket tables. But it's very hard, since the rules are never quite the same. But your idea is a good compromise. Thanks.
