I want to describe to you a little vignette in the day of CG to try to explain to you what this whole affair looks like to me.

Kevin (our puzzlemeister) was on the phone wanting to go over a few puzzles. Some of the ones from last week were viewed with a skeptical eye and I wanted to discuss what people think are awesome and what people think aren't even really puzzles at all, that kind of thing.

But wait! First I have some matters to attend to. I told Kevin to let me call him back in an hour as I have to placate a certain very vocally complaining member.

"Ugh, what does he want?" Kevin asks. He was probably afraid somebody was complaining about a puzzle. (Understand, he doesn't know who you are, or your adversaries, or anybody who doesn't frequent the POTD. He just makes the puzzles and reads the discussion on the puzzle pages.)

I explain to him as succinctly as possible: "This guy spends several hours each day on the site. He uses the site so often that a 24 hour infraction really is a punishment. His complaints vary slightly, but in the end it all comes down to the one horrible fact: that Chessgames causes unending anguish for him. Those hours a day he spends here are hours of pure hell."

"So what does he want you to do about it?", Kevin asks.

I reply: "The problems he cites are entirely due to the behavior of others members. However, it's unclear to me what he wants me to do about it. Requests have varied from changing his username retroactively by editing archived posts, deleting very specific posts, deleting thousands of posts en masse, banning various members, that kind of thing."

Finally he asks, "Why doesn't this guy just go to chess.com or something?"

I've got a brilliant answer! Maybe Kevin likes 99% of this site and 99% of the site like him. Maybe it's just one or two (yeah let's say two) of your members that annoy Kevin and the majority of the site. Why does Kevin follow "Dave's" rules to the letter, and then when Dave ignores Kevin, Kevin probably gets a little annoyed and deliberately goes out of his way to earn 24 hrs probation and dishes out his own justice. Dave's too much of a coward to do it himself, Smh. Maybe Dave needs to look into things a little further and he'll probably see why Kevin gets annoyed? Maybe Dave should email Kevin and ask to see what Neil's been getting up to? I know Kevin and he isn't going to send you irrefutable proof of what's been going on unless Dave asks him. Maybe Kevin's a smart guy who isn't going to fire all his bullets at once. Maybe Dave's not very intelligent even though he had a better education than Kevin? Maybe Kevin feels hurt that "Trevor" would accuse him of threatening Trevor's pet hamster and gerbils? Maybe "BJ Silverstein" who's mia, the BEST!!!!! gunslinger in the west was right about certain people? Or maybe Kevin is just so pissed off with Dave that whenever Dave contacts him he's very rude towards him? Maybe Dave should read Trevor's forum or at the very least ask Trevor who's been trying to hurt his gerbil and hamsters? Maybe Trevor's got nudes of Dave and he's bribing him?! Maybe Neil's just projecting his miserable life onto the site causing more problems than anyone? Maybe Dave's lost money by being lazy and not responding to a whistle blow? Maybe Neil and Trevor are 2 dumb assses and even though Dave knows what's going on behind the scenes he hasn't been truthful? Maybe Kevin could go on forever? Maybe "Ishmael" aka "Bob" is only here to talk his religion? Maybe Kevin's straying off topic a little? Maybe Kevin can prove <everything> he says? Maybe Dave's..... I can't be bothered.

You know I am not going to drop this Mr "Friar!?" so I, me Kevin have lost all respect for you even though I could prove to Trevor and Neil <exactly> what you've said about them? Maybe Trevor's gonna end up working in McDonald's over the gerbil and hamster allegations?

Or maybe, Just maybe.. Kevin will <never> kiss Dave's backside like Trevor and Neil do!

Dave "the coward" runs a business and don't have much time for playing shrink and decided for obvious reasons not comply to that and Kevin has been miserable since them especially because no friend came to help/rescue him as much he looks himself as a very popular bloke. Dave, "the coward " insists he should go to chessbomb or chess.com instead.

And maybe Kevin and Dave were both 100% on the money, lol. Neil! Behave. This is your MO (And Dave is well aware). Come, antagonise, blow whistle, pretend he has an interest in chess for 2 days even though he can't play to save his life, go talks to Trevor, repeats, repeats, repeats. Behave Neil. If only the bad people were here LOL.
