 | | Domdaniel: Before <Frogspawn> mutates into a butterfly -- yeah, I know we got weird biology on Planet Frog, it's the radiation -- here are some 'world proverbs' on the subject: A frog in a well is best off in a well. (Chinese)
If a man falls in love with a frog, he thinks his frog a goddess. (Russian) Where there are no swamps there are no frogs. (German) and the soundtrack:
This is a song from under the floorboards/ this is a song from where the walls are cracked (Magazine) + This is a song from the bottom of a well/ I didn't move here, I just fell ... but if I'm not here, you're not there (Kevin Ayers) |

| Mar-25-10 | | mack: <Don't get me started. <mack> is cringing already.> Perhaps. But it's nothing compared to the sheer horror I felt when you started channeling William Burroughs in a Galway hotel room. |

 | | Domdaniel: <Annie> -- <Army service is no game>
I quite agree ... apart from the trivial sense in which *anything* can be turned into a game. But I always said I couldn't live in a country with army service, no matter how many personal exemptions I qualify for. Burroughs, whom <mack> saw me impersonating, cut off a finger in 1942. Gibson moved to Canada from the USA around 1970. Smart moves. |

 | | Annie K.: <Deffi: <credible creditors and doable debtors ?>> The second one seems a bit of a stretch, the first is a nice find. And <indigression>, heh. :) <OCF> That's a 100% success rate for funny posts on this page. Good work! <Dom> re.: <army/ies> - Well, the issue is not that simple. And... I don't mind discussing this further, but not in public. <Dom: <<mack> I only made with the verbals. The full performance involves sex[...]>> Arguably, a waste of a perfectly good hotel room...? :p |

 | | Annie K.: Alright, alright, I'm voting, I'm voting... sheesh. Did you at least get Honza to promise that Aneta would play chess by the age of three? :p |

 | | Domdaniel: <Annie> Yep. Agreed. Different channel for *that* one. Gawd, you're so *direct*. Think of me as Oscar Wilde, without steroids or carnations. Or something more Joyce/Pynchon-esque, the last humeme encyclopedia, gone fossil in the dunes. If that helps.
I seem to be playing chess this weekend. Departing soon for tournament. Unprepared and bedraggled. I'll be back when I can disorganize it. |

 | | Domdaniel: Speaking of draws, I began with one. I was winning - after an unsound piece sac I somehow wriggled into an ending with four good pawns for a bad knight - but he *did* ask me nicely. So I lack the killer instinct. We all knew that. Not a bad result in rating terms, actually, though previous encounters between us were also drawn. Onwards. Saturday looms. |
