   Jan-06-19 G McCarthy vs M Kennefick, 1977 (replies)

Domdaniel: Maurice Kennefick died over the new year, 2018-2019. RIP. It was many years since I spoke to him. He gave up chess, I reckon, towards the end of the 80s, though even after that he was sometimes lured out for club games. I still regard this game, even after so many years, as the ...

   Jan-06-19 Maurice Kennefick (replies)

Domdaniel: Kennefick died over the 2018-19 New Year. Formerly one of the strongest players in Ireland, he was the first winner of the Mulcahy tournament, held in honour of E.N. Mulcahy, a former Irish champion who died in a plane crash. I played Kennefick just once, and had a freakish win, ...

Domdaniel: <NBZ> -- Thanks, NBZ. Enjoy your chortle. Apropos nothing in particular, did you know that the word 'chortle' was coined by Lewis Carroll, author of 'Alice in Wonderland'? I once edited a magazine called Alice, so I can claim a connection. 'Chortle' requires the jamming ...

   Jan-04-19 G Neave vs B Sadiku, 2013 (replies)

Domdaniel: Moral: if you haven't encountered it before, take it seriously. Remember Miles beating Karpov with 1...a6 at Skara. Many so-called 'irregular' openings are quite playable.

   Dec-30-18 Robert Enders vs S H Langer, 1968

Domdaniel: <HMM> - Heh, well, yes. I also remembered that Chuck Berry had a hit with 'My Ding-a-ling' in the 1970s. I'm not sure which is saddest -- that the author of Johnny B. Goode and Memphis Tennessee and Teenage Wedding - among other short masterpieces - should sink to such ...

Dec-07-12  mckmac: < Dom > 2 to go. I turned 52 on Wednesday. I was born in the year of The Rat, the month of The Rat, and in the hour of The Rat. My first concious act was to pee in the Nurse's eye. Full bladder, you understand, nothing personal.

Domdaniel: <mckmac> Too self-referential for *me* don't exist. But mebbe too self-referential for my public, y'unnerstan? Got punters to think of here.

There's also the litttle matter of volume. Some call it spam but I'm not so carniverous. Still, doing less of it and pausing for responses is an idea worth considering.

Dec-08-12  crawfb5: <Dom> My little holiday gift for you is to note that in my experience, Google's search image has found things TinEye didn't, but as always YMMV. It's available as an add-on for either Chrome or FireFox.

Not sure if I will join in the chase this year.

Dec-09-12  Memethecat: Hey <Dom>, good to see your alive & well?!

Your sudden disappearance had me contemplating all sorts of awful scenario, ranging from bad/non existent health to "was it something I said?", as I seem to have been the last person you spoke with.

Your uniqueness/Domness has been missed.

Also, watched & enjoyed a movie of that book you like with the detective monk in the monastery library, by Umberto something, I remember you saying he was an interesting sort, good story.

Don't go solvin those clues
I couldn't if I tried
Oh homey if I use Wiki
Maybe if I use TinEye

So don't go solving those clues
You have to wait there for me
Oh homey when you click on that prize
You took it from me.

Nuuuukluuuuuuuuuu
Nobody knows it, nobody knows
When I was stumped
I was your chump
Nobody knows it
Right from the start
Gave it my heart
Gave it my heart

So don't go solving those clues
I won't go solving those clues
Oh yeah
Don't go solving those clues
And nobody told me

Nuuuuukluuuuuuu
Cause nobody showed me
And now it's up to me maybe
I think I can fake it
So don't misunderstand me
You put the fight in my eyes
Oh you put the burn to the game
I've got your prize in my sights

Nuuuuuuuuuuukluuuuuuuuu
Nobody knows it
When I was stumped
I was your chump
Nobody knows it
Nobody knows it
Right from the start
Gave it my heart
Ohhhhhh, gave it my heart

Annie K.: I was at work. This, however, is an irrelevant detail. More to the point, someone plz remind me not to get lost in a novel during Nuklu Season, no matter how good it is.

But it was an accident, rilly. I thought it was the short story version (which I already knew), and I just wanted to scan through it. But then it was somehow even more interesting and much more detailed than I remembered it, and I just kept going...

A few hours later, the memory surfaced that there was a novel version to this story, along with the realization that, akshully, this must be it. Oh, and that Klu 3 had come and gone.

But hey - Flowers for Algernon is worth it:
