May-29-07  Plato: <I would submit to you, instead, that you have been the first to address me in every encounter, and the endless spats are therefore your fault.>

(For this post I will abide by the terms of his "truce" to show how ridiculous it is, as if it could do anything to prevent hostilities. I will not refer to him directly. Let's see if it prevents him from responding, or if he'll just respond without referring to me directly... in which case the "truce" will have achieved ... absolutely nothing)

<He> can claim what he says above all he wants, but it is ridiculous and I believe he's smart enough to realize it. Every single time a debate ended, <he> returned a while later to insult me without any provocation. He used my alias and you ridiculed me. The fact that he did it behind my back doesn't make it any better -- only worse.

There is no doubt who resumed the hostilities on this thread, everyone knows it was <him>, no matter how much he tries to twist things around -- and it was exactly the same the previous two times. Every single time the feuds ended I was able to move on. And every single time, he was not able to do so. Weeks or months after the debate he was apparently still brooding over what had happened long before, long after I had even thought about it.

(There, I followed the terms of his "truce." Now compare them to the terms of mine on page 154. Which truce was more sincere in its attempt to put an end to hostilities? <His> attempts at even equating the two are absolutely absurd)

May-29-07  danielpi: <Plato> Hmmm...

<danielpi><I'm done for tonight at least, though.>

I lied.

<I have tried to maintain at least a modicum of respect towards you in this most recent dispute, even though it has been very difficult with you ridiculing me left and right>

And you've certainly taken plenty of time to remind me and everyone else of how "respectful" you've been. Why don't you say it once more, just in case anyone failed to notice how "courteous" you've been. You're killing me with kindness, really.

<People... who are more concerned with making the other guy look bad than sincerity in debate.>

Yeah, I hate those people.

<You strike me as an emotionally unbalanced person.>

Heh. Okay. Well it's a good thing you can't see me crying, foaming at the mouth, dressed up like a little schoolgirl, talking to my mummified mother, and dealing with some childhood potty training issues while I write this kibitz. 'Cause if you could see all that, you'd think I was really nuts!

Heh. Yeah, and thanks for pointing out my obvious "emotional imbalance". Because that's exactly what you're supposed to say to "emotionally unbalanced" people. You tell them that they're emotionally unbalanced. Say it right to their face. It helps. Really, it does. It's safe, too. But you know all about that, right? I'm sure you're about as sincere about that diagnosis as you are about everything else you've been saying, doctor.

So long, ugly fugly fug.

May-29-07  Plato: What? <You> addressed me directly! Shame on you for resuming the hostilities which I had ended with my last post, by abiding by all the terms of your truce proposal! That's it: this means WAR!!!
May-29-07  danielpi: <a kid who has some salient emotional problems and a distinct inability to move on.>

Kid, eh? I rather suspect I'm older than you are, but "kid" is not quite appropriate anyhow.

"Salient" emotional problems, too. I like how you threw that in there. "Salient". Very mysterious emotional problems, which are salient. Heh. You know, it just rings true. I'll just have to suck on my baby blanket now. It's very calming.

<Yes, you *are* undoubtedly a nuisance -- I'll give you that -- but I can deal with you if necessary.>

♫Macho, macho man
I've got to be, a macho man
Macho, macho man (yeah, yeah)
I've got to be a macho!?♫

Well, I'm glad to know that I *am* undoubtedly a nuisance.

Toodaloo, fugaloo...

May-29-07  danielpi: <Plato><Shame on you for resuming the hostilities which I had ended with my last post, by abiding by all the terms of your truce proposal! That's it: this means WAR!!!>

What was that about emotional instability?

May-29-07  achieve: <jessicafischerqueen: I'm Uma Thurman!>

Her beauty is unparallelled - outer space quality. Good pick!

May-29-07  Plato: <Say it right to their face. It helps. Really, it does. It's safe, too. But you know all about that, right? >

I know it doesn't help. Sorry if it made things worse for ya. I've had this opinion about you for a while but I refrained from mentioning it for exactly that reason. However, after repeated attempts at restoring some dignity to our discussions, or at least to prevent future hostilities -- and after seeing your unfortunate responses to those attempts -- you have succeeded in establishing the terms of our interaction. You've chosen to continue with ridicule and insults rather than an honest attempt at peace.

My justification for the comment is the same as yours whenever you repeatedly insult me: I honestly believe it to be true. Quite a number of your comments already gave me this impression. Yes, it would have been "nicer" to keep it to myself, and with any other person I would have done the same. But you have brushed aside all my attempts at niceness, expressed a desire that I were dead, and I'm exasperated even trying to be cordial with you anymore. If that was your intention, to retain full-fledged hostilities, then congratulations! You have succeeded! I give up trying to treat you with respect; from now on I will respond in kind.

May-29-07  Plato: <Kid, eh? I rather suspect I'm older than you are, but "kid" is not quite appropriate anyhow.>

I don't think you are older, but it doesn't really matter anyhow. We're probably close in age, but "kid" just seemed appropriate given your behavior. Perhaps "kiddo" might have been better, though, if that's what you're getting at...

<Well, I'm glad to know that I *am* undoubtedly a nuisance.>

The reason I figured you'd be glad to know it is that you obviously take pleasure in pissing me off. That you have a sadistic side to you is very obvious by now. So while I can't say you succeed in doing more than being a nuisance, I was at least willing to give you that! You should feel proud!

May-29-07  danielpi: <Plato><You have succeeded! I give up trying to treat you with respect.>

Has the legendary <Plato> patience run dry? I tremble with fear.

<I know it doesn't help. Sorry.>

Well, you're forgiven. Heh. I suspect you regard everyone that disagrees with you as mentally deranged or something like that. You know, it's funny how you equate "unfriendly to <Plato>" with "emotionally unbalanced". I suppose from your perspective, anyone who's unfriendly to you simply must be emotionally unbalanced. 'Cause anyone would be crazy not to like and respect you, right?

You got any better insults in your little grab bag there? This one don't seem to fit. Heh.

You sure are an ugly little fugly.

May-29-07  danielpi: <Plato><So while I can't say you succeed in doing more than being a nuisance, I was at least willing to give you that!>

Oh my, feeling generous today, aren't we?

<The reason I figured you'd be glad to know it is that you obviously take pleasure in pissing me off>

Is it that obvious?

<I don't think you are older, but it doesn't really matter anyhow. >

I agree that it doesn't matter, but insofar as your use of the term "kid" (or "kiddo"), it just doesn't make sense (as an insult or otherwise) to refer to me as "kid". I'm 26, and you're what- 23? 24? I don't think age makes a lick of difference regarding anything other than use of the term "kid"- in which case it's not so much an insult as poor word use.

May-29-07  Plato: <Heh. I suspect you regard everyone that disagrees with you as mentally deranged or something like that.>

Actually, no, would you believe it, I've disagreed with plenty of people on CG and you're pretty much the only one I feel this way about! In fact, a number of other people have been mature enough to resume cordial relations with me after the debates subsided! What a concept!

No, as fun as it is to read your assumptions, I don't equate "unfriendly to Plato" with "emotionally unbalanced." My opinion about you doesn't mean that I have that opinion about everybody I disagree with, sorry... It has more to do with you specifically: your sadistic streak, your death wishes (not just to me), your fantastic ability to carry a grudge for months on end and hurl insults out of the blue ... and a few other things which I won't bother mentioning.

I'm devastated to know that I'm an ugly little fugly.

May-29-07  Plato: <danielpi: in which case it's not so much an insult as poor word use.>

Oh no! Not the dreaded <poor word use>!

Yes, believe me I know all about you and your strong opinions regarding proper word use and all that. Chessgames forums are held up to rigorous academic standards! Sorry, kiddo, but "kid" just happens to be how I think of you, 26 or not. You've had plenty of chances to show that you are capable of behaving like an adult -- and you've failed each time. Of course, the door is still open, whenever you feel like putting an end to it all you need to do is do what I did and move on without looking back.

But you apparently get a real kick out of petty argument, and so long as you continue to insult me without provocation, I'll be happy to oblige.

May-29-07  danielpi: <Plato><your sadistic streak, your death wishes (not just to me), your fantastic ability to carry a grudge for months on end and hurl insults out of the blue>

And we know that these are all well established facts in Platoland.

<Plato><I'm devastated to know that I'm an ugly little fugly.>

You should be. It's an embarrassing thing to be.

May-29-07  danielpi: <Plato><Not the dreaded <poor word use>!>

Yeah, well, we all know you're not particularly adept with the English language.

Ugly.
Fugly.

May-29-07  Plato: <danielpi> I'm sure it is.

Those facts are facts in just about any land other than <danielpi>-land, and even in that warped place I'm sure they're facts, because you must realize that they are borne out by your own comments. You just don't like to admit it and prefer to twist the facts, surprise surprise.

May-29-07  danielpi: <Plato><facts in just about any land other than <danielpi>-land>

Very original.

May-29-07  Plato: <Yeah, well, we all know you're not particularly adept with the English language.>

Uh-huh. This coming from the person who doesn't even know how to identify a misspelled word.

At least *you* "know" it, anyway. But feel free to speak for everyone else, too.
