 | | jessicafischerqueen: I seen it <Dr.>, and agree with your review. I love <Depp> as well. BTW I'm going to go for 10 horror movies in 10 nights now. My nightmares were incredibly vivid last night!!
What non-horror fans may not understand is that <nightmares> are not necessarily bad. In a way, they are "free horror movies".
Heh
On deck I have <re-animator, innocents, and another one <Wilson> told me about>. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Eyal> Are you psychotic? OOps <psychic> rather... (that's a joke from the EXCELLENT comedy <Flamingo Kid> starring <Matt Dillon>). I was just this minute about to email you on a different matter, but of course I'll include <Bill's Parable> Jess |
|
| May-30-07 | | chessmoron: I adore Johnny Depp's acting abilities. I love when he improvise his roles. Without him, "Pirates of the Caribbean" wouldn't be so big. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Wilson> Is the series worth watching? My favorite <Depp> film is <Gilbert Grape>, and that black and white film he made with director <Jim Jarmusch> (can't remember the title). |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Oh and of course <John Waters'> film <Crybaby> with <Depp> and <Debbie Harry>. Hilarious!! |
|
| May-30-07 | | chessmoron: Try Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. If you like it, try the sequels 'Dead Man's Chest' and The 'World's End.' |
|
| May-30-07 | | Dr.Lecter: How was the movie where Depp starred as the guy with scissors as hands. I heard it was good |
|
| May-30-07 | | chessmoron: 'Edward Scissorhand' Strange, don't you think? Burton is a strange man. He's also doing a movie on musical starring Depp and Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat/Ali G/Bruno) fame. 'Blow'--here's a real guy's movie and it starts Depp and a little cameo for Pee-Wee Hermann |
|

 | | jessicafischerqueen: IMO <blow> and <Scissorhand> are both brilliant. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Durango> still not sure if you have moved or not. TAKE THE PAWN! TAKE THE PAWN! |
|
| May-31-07 | | samikd: Nah.. I dont think so; at least not in this move. Its strange coming from me, because I am a firm beleiver of the classical concept that the best way to deal with a gambit is to accept it. But I hate defending, so off late I have been declining the Smith Morra. In this opening I played through the lines in the database and I dont like Black's position at all. His King remains stranded at d8 (after Nb5 sooner or later) and his development is poor; too much price to pay for the Pawn. Then I looked at the much bigger chessbase database, and guess what ? <Qxe4>, <Bxc3> etc all lead to 80-87% win for White ! So, after <jessfishing> a lot for good moves.. I chose the uncommon move which did relatively well for Black ( I mean.. they only lost 70% of their games !!) not just because of the statistics.. I kinda like it.
Ok, so my move is

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Durango> Curses!!
Dang it I was trying to psyche you out the whole time but it didn't work. I know the <Scotch> very well because I play it all the time to avoid <Spanish game>. I knew the whole time <Be2> <Qxe4> is much better for white than black. Well, back to the databases for me too.
I'll trick you yet!!! |
|
| May-31-07 | | samikd: <I knew the whole time <Be2> <Qxe4> is much better for white than black.> !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 | | Domdaniel: Jess, O Jess, you are verily on fire, and it gladdens my old heart. (My younger spare heart ain't so sure, but it'll come round). I tried vaguely to research the origin of that phrase you axed about ages ago -- "everything I know is wrong" -- and found about six possible answers: Aleister Crowley, Hassan i Sabbah, William Burroughs and, um, Bono, all said it in some form ... more digging required, obviously. |
|
May-31-07
 | | Domdaniel: <treachery thy name is woman> comes from Miss Ella Treachery, who darned the socks of John Wilkes Booth shortly before he popped along to the theatre, shot Abe Lincoln, and said "sic semper tyrannis". Miss Ella, as she was known, insisted to her dying day that Booth told her he was only going to shoot Mrs Lincoln, leaving Abe available for consolation and remarriage. |
|
| May-31-07 | | samikd: <jessfish> I made it up.. I didn't know it was said somewhere else (before <domdaniel> enlightened me on this subject). The only 'thy name is quote' I I previously knew was 'frailty thy name is woman' from Hamlet. Its of course, predictable that there are many more. |

| May-31-07 | | chessmoron: <Horror movies I have terrible dreams> 1. The Thing (John Carpenter's version)
2. The Grudge (I hate that little white-faced kid--scare by pants off) 3. Audition |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom> would you look at my last game with <Elixir> if you already haven't? It's the last game in the <Completed Correspondence Games> in my Profile thanks <sensei> |
