(group therapy has proven to have many advantages)>> what are you a shrink to detect who needs therapy? and besides i dont think <Mameluk> was bashing a <Top> GM just a regular one. Jun-09-07
achieve: <No shrink here <slomarko> The irony was obviously wasted on you, as is the fact that you've belittled/ridiculed van Wely in the past, and will probably continue to do so in the future.
GMs above 2670 ELO are by definition <Top> as opposed to the elite GMs just above them. They're superGMs.> Jun-09-07 slomarko: <achieve> i've not belittled Van Wely in the past, i've just critised the many invitation he gets in my opinion there are players who deserve it more. in fact i'd say there is a strong consesus in the chess comunity about that. achieve: <slo> not belittled/ridiculed van Wely??
Mar-26-07 van Wely page:
<NN:<If a Dutch organizer thinks it will help generate attention for a tournament to invite a Dutch player, then more power to them.>slomarko: yeah his games generate a lot of attention. everybody wonders will he resign on move 15 or 20.> 'nough said..
(Btw I do like your sense of humor generally.. ;-)> After that last blunder of mine the "fight" (if it ever was..) ended, partly because I made a few very basic errors. I started OK though.. <Jess> You can't say I haven't tried can you? I still have a lot to learn in picking BIG HONKING FIGHTS, but I'm eager to learn. (The smiley was obviously a mistake, too..) On another note - Have you seen the movie "Very Bad Things"? (starring Cameron Diaz and Christian Slater)
I asked <chessmoron> a while back and he hadn't seen it. It is a black comedy and it TOTALLY cracked me up..
"Head Above Water", with Diaz and Harvey Keitel, had a similar effect on me - Uncontrolled laughter because everything goes wrong and ends in utter disaster. <Common Theme> All starts happy, but after an unfortunate incident somebody dies, followed by people losing sanity, with many more disasters to follow. Of course it is the genius of Directors like Peter Berg and Jim Wilson, that makes it all work! A line from Very Bad things: (Christian Slater as Boyd). how do we get her out of here?
[sighs]
(Boyd) - we can wrap her up in blankets,
bring the car around to the back of the hotel,
lower her gently down off the balcony,
put her in the car, and we're done!
-- JC!, have you done this before?!
the reality is, you take away the horror of the situation,
take away the tragedy of the death,
take away the moral and ethical implications
of all the crap that you've had conditioned and beaten
into your head since grade one,
what are we left with?
what?
... a 105-pound problem.
105 pounds that's got to be moved from point "a" to point "b."
Now, a straight line is the shortest distance between two points,
but we're denied the luxury of a visible straight line,
but that line exists, and i see it.
i see that line.
trust me."

| Jun-11-07 | | achieve: <Jess>From Very Bad Things: <Adam (Daniel Stern) to Michael (Jeremy Piven) -- I got children! I've got a life!!
Michael- "your kids are one crutch away from a telethon and you've got a frigid swamp hog wife!"> ROFL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfqt...
This is just a scene of course and a bit chaotic to jump in but if you have the chance RENT IT!! ( if you haven't seen it) This kind of "twisted" comedy works well for me if directed and acted well with lots of intelligent, frantic, heated debate/dialogue. This kind of genre doesn't work for many though and as a result little of these movies are are made. It's a chain of events getting out of hand, people losing control, presented in an outrageous, seeming exaggerated, way. Some of my friends "got it", but some didn't at all. Thank God Peter Berg hit my "button" just right!! (Good music score, great script, good editing, casting etc.) In real life I enjoy joking around, making cynical comments, taking myself and others not too seriously, but many times it escapes people involved.
Maybe it's me and I go overboard sometimes - but I'm not gonna change it.. In certain situations it is better to speak your mind and not be too sissy about wether the other's feelings might get hurt - good selection process imo.. |

| Jun-11-07 | | achieve: <Jess> Well I'll be darned.. I even found this trailor of Head Above Water.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-Ud...
And today is crunchtime in the candidates (chess)..
It's all SO EXCITING!!

 | | Domdaniel: <twinlark> -- <I think I inadvertently offended someone else.> Well, it weren't Jess, and it weren't me. Why not simply check with the small handful of other sentient folk, one by one? "There are only twelve people in the world and five of *them* are hamburgers..." A.N. Elitist |

Maybe it's me and I go overboard sometimes - but I'm not gonna change it..> Great stuff. I totally agree. I think this may explain why Niels and I get on so well -- we're quite alike, but each of us thinks the other one is *nicer*. Heh. If he only knew...

 | | Domdaniel: <Jess> Books? Books! Not a chance, young lady, they're far too dangerous. Just stick to TV and an occasional movie, you'll be fine. Ain't nothin' but pain and heartache in books... Apart from which, Nimzo's 'Praxis' -- if it's the Dover edition that I have -- is a truly vile translation. |
|
Jun-11-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Doh! What about <Saint Nimzo> coming to my rescue!! Dagnabbit. |
|
Jun-11-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Niels> I will rent the "floating head" movie tonight probly. BTW, you clearly won the argument with <slomarko>, which is impressive because he's far from stupid. He just likes to rile people up. A bunch of his tournament games are posted 20 or 30 pages back in my forum (after the Pi-Plato match), I played through the first two games and he's a good chess player. <RJF>: "How would she know? All women are weakies. They shouldn't be allowed to play chess." But I be you'd whup him OTB as well as in verbal swordplay. Well done!! |

Jun-11-07
 | | Domdaniel: Zapkinder! Saint Nimzo at your service, my queen, complete with hanging pawns and feet of clay... Restrain! Blockade! Destroy! |
|
| Jun-11-07 | | Eyal: <Jess> Gpday - thanks for the Cat power file. I retaliated by sending you some music files of my own. |

Jun-11-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Thanks <Eyalinator>. Another merciless retaliation across western... |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: FLAMING STAR!!
The story of <Domdaniel's> forum, the forum that couldn't say NO! |
|
Jun-11-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Eyal> there is an "orgy" of ridiculous posting at <Dom's> place right now. It's like a House Wrecking Party!!
And there's a new scandal/conspiracy to investigate as well. Something to do with <Dom>, a <shark>, and <naughty bits>, I believe. |
|
Jun-11-07
 | | Domdaniel: The shark was an innocent bystander who merely happened to witness the crime. I felt I should point this out. The naughty bits were, of course, mine. |
|
Jun-11-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: LOL What were your "naughty bits" doing lying on a computer screen? isn't that against the law?
Giggling insanely here
<Dom> Sharks may be innocent, but they are rarely "bystanders." They are always on the move, looking to <coupe ta poche>, if you catch my <Froggish Drift> |
|
| Jun-11-07 | | whiteshark: Beg your pardon, Patrone, it was cream !! |
|
Jun-11-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Shark> heh. Giggling and shaking here, well done! |
|
Jun-11-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <My Dear Shark> yes, that's it exactly. That's exactly the kind of post that <Dom's> forum got shut down for!! It's not the cussing they mind so much, it's <sexual innuendo> that a child or young adult would understand. Just saying. |
|
Jun-11-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Thanks for keeping me and <Dom> safe, <My Dear Shark>. but don't forget you can make all kinds of jokes still that they don't care about. ALMOST anything, really. |
|
| Jun-11-07 | | twinlark: <Dom> <Why not simply check> No need to as it wasn't a mystery. It's sorted. Ta. |
|
| Jun-11-07 | | Dr.Lecter: <jess> Yes. I can just picture my negotiation plan. <Lecter>: you two countries WILL make up, and right now! what are you doing fighting like sissies? S.K.rep: They started the war
N.K.rep: NO~! China told us they would give us a lollipop if we attack you guys S.K.rep: What?! For something as petty as that! That's it... (start fist-fighting)
<Lecter>: Both of you, shut up and make up, or I'll eat both of you, then kill you. And then, it will become one nation called Korea! |
|
| Jun-11-07 | | Dr.Lecter: Oh, and I watched <FDII> yester day. It was on Sci-Fi channel, and was pretty good! |
|
| Jun-11-07 | | Tactic101: Bring it on! |
|
Jun-12-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Doctor> brilliant! Glad you liked <FDII> as well. I don't know what we will do without you, but I want you to have a great vacation. In the meantime.... |
