jessicafischerqueen: Your over there regimen sounds salubrious! Interestingly, in Canada we save time by spelling "music and poker" as "moker." Initially we spelled it "poomus" but that sounded a little too declasse, even for us...

  jessicafischerqueen: ATTENTION:

<SQUARES, TACTIC, DURANGO, ELIXIR> Your move, buds.

FENs are updated and ready to roll Gents.

Frankly, I don't like any of your chances.

Then again, I liked Cleveland's chances, so what do I know?

jessicafischerqueen: Help!! A chess puzzle has dropped in my forum!!

Alert! Alert!!

<Ragh> I suck bad at chess puzzles unless they have like 3 pieces on the board.

Sigh.

Jun-14-07  chessmoron: or 6-piece: http://www.k4it.de/index.php?topic=...
Jun-14-07  Ragh: OK, I'm deleting it from here and discussing at <chessmoron> forum.
Jun-14-07  Ragh: you can come over there to check answer.
Jun-14-07  Ragh: <jess> There are some interesting games played by Stopp in this database. take a look if you want ;)

jessicafischerqueen: <Ragh> there was no need to move the puzzle, but it's your call. Thanks for the STOPP link!

jessicafischerqueen: <Tactic> Whoops I think your king is going the wrong way there...
Jun-14-07  Ragh: OK then, here's a famous simple puzzle.

White to play, can it be a draw?

jessicafischerqueen: <Tactic> What happened to your move?

did you realize your King was already on <g8>?

Jun-14-07  samikd: <Ragh> Mr Richard Reti is blessing you from his grave :)

jessicafischerqueen: <Tactic> I thought you posted <Kg8> as your last move, but I might be imagning things.

Don't forget, this is a friendly game, so if you change your mind about a move it's no problem.

Did you mean <Kf8 or Kh8>?

Jun-14-07  Tactic101: Oh god. Now I'm a bit nervous. I think see what your plan is. I can stop it, but it will give me a little frustration (you know what, maybe they should change the name of chess from chess to Frustration, a game sort of like Sorry! and Ludo). I'll take what I can get from this position. Kh8. Let's see what you play now.
Jun-14-07  Ragh: thanks samikd. I just quoted it as a famous puzzle but didn't name the person :)

jessicafischerqueen: <Tactic> you see what "seems" to be my plan. I'm actually going to attack simultaneously from both wings.

chess "wisdom" says you should counterattack in the center.

I'm not wise, however, so who knows what will happen?

jessicafischerqueen: and here is the plan:

<Tactic> <19.Rf4>

That's a stinging right. It forces your Knight to a sorry square or loses you a tempo if you move your king again.

Next will be a left hand uppercut Queenside.

You're on the ropes!!

jessicafischerqueen: Yes. the puzzle can be a Draw.

Do I win?

Jun-14-07  Ragh: <Yes. the puzzle can be a Draw.

Do I win?> yes, tell the first move and you win.

Jun-14-07  Tactic101: Who said I have to defend? Why can't I play f5? Weaker yes, but it is defended for now. That's my move.

PS I did post Kh8 earlier, but when I quickly saw Rf4, I decided to kill it. But after I convinced myself (which may be completely wrong) it is not a mistake, I played it anyway. God, you check your forum very often.

Jun-14-07  Ragh: I'll save you some trouble by posting the answer anyway. 1.Kg7 h4
(1...Kb6 2.Kf6 h4 3.Ke5 h3 4.Kd6 h2 5.c7 =)
2.Kf6 Kb6
(2...h3 3.Ke6 =)
3.Ke5 1/2-1/2
As samikd pointed out, this composition is from Reti's study.
Jun-14-07  Dr.Lecter: I got a graduation dance tonight, and my friend got his first (?) gf, and going to the dance for the first (?) time. I still need a person to dance with for the slow dance. <jess>, if you want to fly over to CA for a slow dance, then fly back to Canada, it's fine by me. I'm not paying for the tickets.
Jun-14-07  chessmoron: <I'm not paying for the tickets.> Un-gentleman like. No girls want that. Slap on the face, splash punch juice with a little bit of vodka in the face and your night is nighty-night.
Jun-14-07  WBP: <Jess> Just looking in briefly--can't be on the site much today :=( Just sent you an email. Best, Bill
Jun-14-07  Dr.Lecter: <chessmoron> You're right. I should wear cheek-pad to prevent pain from slap, and should bring towel and extra clothing in case <jess> decides to take your advice. But I'm still not paying for the tickets
