| Jun-20-07 | | samikd: <Ragh> well some people are creative in the opening, some are in the middlegame. Anand falls in the later category, he was never big on openings. He, in his own words, "likes to move the pieces around", instead of working out the lines in advance all the way to checkmate, like Kasparov and Kramnik. He cited Adams as a player of his type.
These people are intuitive in nature; I think Karpov would be a great example, too. This is an interesting topic actually.. this difference exists in the world of science also. You have some guys who are very creative and always invent new stuff..you have tons of theories/equations named after them. Example : Albert Einstein . On the other hand, some people aren't big on inventing new equations, but when they study an existing theory, they understand it deeper than most people on the Earth. Example: Richard Feynman or S. Chandrashekhar. They dont have too many equations named after them ..they never 'start a whole new subject' like Einstein would do time and again, but they usually 'say the last word' in those topics (I think this was said about Chandrasekhar) |

The <spamqueen> is getting old ;)> You're so right, <ragh>. It can't be over a week since <Jess> posted her 6K at my place. (seems like yesterday) |

<jessicafischerqueen: <My Dear Niels> As promised, here is post <6000> in your fine forum!!> So <Jess> is close to 1000 posts in two weeks. Quite a stat! AND I think I have witnessed <Eyal>'s first ever typo! ;-))

But I like bad influences - as long as they stay bad influenzas.. |

I'm almost ready to throw in the towel.
Not yet though.
Kg7. Only move. |

| Jun-20-07 | | Tactic101: Better be more careful with what I'm typing. I may just accidently on purpose blunder a rook away and call it a typo. Thanks for the second chance. But I supose you can do such things when you're winning....... :) |
|
| Jun-20-07 | | Tactic101: Let me guess....... you're going to play Rg6+, right? This game will be one to analyze. I'm pretty certain there have been lots of mistakes. This mistake (Nxf6?) was probably caused when I overestimated my king's defense. Now, I'm being hunted down hard. But I'm still hoping for an error on your part. Overall this has not been a great game for me. Next time I will play better with the white pieces. I'll be back. |
|
| Jun-20-07 | | Tactic101: Why don't we start the next game while we're at it? I'm probably going to lose this game, so let's get going. |
|
| Jun-20-07 | | Tactic101: I couldn't resist, so I checked up where precisely I went wrong. It was at 12. Qb4, just as you said, is vastly superior to Ng6, which grants white the advantage. |

Any particular order I should watch them?

| Jun-20-07 | | Tactic101: <Jess> Could you stop flaming at <whiteshark>? If you think he's bad, you should have been on the scene on AJ Goldsby's page when it was popular. All the offensive posts are now deleted, but it still remains a black mark on chessgames.com history. <Whiteshark> put you on his ignore list, so what? Don't waste your temper on him. He's not flaming you, while you are. Everyone have people they like and dislike. So stop it! Keep it up and this could really begin open war. Just my advice. Nothing more. PS: Another reason why I'm losing is my somewhat planless play. I was going for ideas that never materalized. By Ng6, I wanted to play the break f6-f5-f4 (minority attack), but it never really occured. Rc8 does nothing really. I had probably been intending to play c6-c5 (opening the c-file for active play and freeing my bad bishop), but again, it never happened. The maneuver Nb8-d7-f8-g6 was quite pointless. I had used this idea many times like all other players, but the knight on d7 looks okay. The bishop is obstructed, but then again, it has no good square to go to. I should have also used the g-file to attempt to get counter play quickly with Kh8 and Rg8, with later doubling, while avoiding Ng6. That's my analysis why I'm losing. A subtle mistake on move 12 has cost me a pawn and will probably soon cost me the game. A good rule can arise from this: Try not to allow isolated doubled pawns unless you have a good reason. Do all you can to avoid them. By Qb4, black breaks the pin and attacks the b-pawn, giving him active play. Another good rule: Make one plan and STICK TO IT!
Learnt a lot from this game. I hope the same is for you. |
|
| Jun-20-07 | | Eyal: <Tactic101> Since you're already posting analysis of this game before it's finished and looking for your mistakes, I might add that although being definitely inferior after missing 12...Qb4, it seems that you also missed at least two opportunities to put up a much better fight later by 21...f6 (instead of Rg5) and 25...Rg4 (instead of Rd5). |

| Jun-20-07 | | Ragh: <samikd> Nice analogies there between Science and Chess. <Eyal> Thanks for drilling down to the bottom of the matter with the help of your search expertise. I can't believe that I too posted 200 in past 2 weeks :) Damn! the contagious spamming. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Tactic> I have no temperature. What happened on the <Goldsby page>, exactly? I need to know! The <Shark> can do what he likes, he can't see anything I post anyway so what's the difference? He insulted my forum and me for no reason. He drew first blood. Plus, I need at least one <mortal enemy>. I had three at one point, but I accidentally became friends with them. |

I like your list a lot. I was wishing you had put in the <Move Number> on which the defining <Move> is played in each opening? Qh9++ heh. <Capablanca Chess> has a 10 by 10 board. I played some <Seirwan> chess the other day. Same board but two extra pieces to be added once you move stuff off the back rank. Both pieces were invented by <Cap>. <The Hawk> moves like a bishop AND knight. <The Elephant> moves like a rook AND knight. It's very interesting!! I lost. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Ragh> How do I do it? Simple. I can't shut up. In fact, my friends regularly pretend to fall asleep while watching videos with me so they can watch them without hearing me lecture about them while they're playing. (true story). Your spamming predictions are eerily accurate. You know what horse will come first in the 8th race at Belmont tomorrow? Tell if you do... |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Tactic> good grief we can't start another game until this one's finished. If you are going to test my endgame technique, our present game might take ahwile. I spent hours and hours on you playing <Qb4>, and was quite surprised it wasn't played. Doubling the King defenders is not a good idea 99% of the time, but it can be safe if you have an attack going (initiative) or if your opponent has no Queen or bishops. <Morphy> could have castled safely in to a doubled pawn position in the game <Daniel King> analyzes on <chessbase>, apparently. I just watched it last night. <Rg6+>, of course. No mating net here but I'm going to squeeze you good. |
