jessicafischerqueen: Your over there regimen sounds salubrious! Interestingly, in Canada we save time by spelling "music and poker" as "moker." Initially we spelled it "poomus" but that sounded a little too declasse, even for us...

Jun-20-07  mack: Argh. Fancied watching some chess this evening. Back to the old cider, then.

Jun-20-07  Eyal: <mack> Good post in the Goldsby page (though with the new regulations which give players control over their game page as if it were their own forum, I doubt if it will stay there for long).
Jun-20-07  mack: Yo <Eyal>, you all right? Seems like we've not spoken for a while. Both buried up to the neck in academia of varying importance, I suspect. I had a look at that conference schedule you posted up, looked groovy.

Goldsby can take a running jump for all I care.

jessicafischerqueen: <Mack> what's the dirt on this <Goldfinger> guy?
Jun-20-07  WBP: <Jess> Just looking in for a moment; very busy today and tomorrow.

Re. <Goldfinger>: One of the great characters of CG.com, he alienated people in wholesale numbers in the Bronze Age, but most of that's been deleted, and all that's left now is residual fallout--a quotation or two here or there (see the Quotations Forum, which has a few). I'm gathering that <CC> and the <Alchemist> know a fair amount about him, based on things they've posted. But from what I can piece together, he was thought of as exceedingly pompous and testy--accusing players of cheating and using engines in computer games with him, constantly putting people on ignore, and being condescending to players ranked lower than he. And apparently, the degree of incivility reached levels never again achieved in the long and glorious history of CG.com. Great games going on here!

Jun-20-07  Eyal: <mack> Thanks, the conference was quite nice, though many of the papers were less interesting than you would expect from their titles - as usual. Congrats on completing your work on British satire (so I heard).

jessicafischerqueen: Hey <Bill> yes, I'm going to have a look and see if he will agree to be my new <mortal enemy>.

<The Shark> finally explained why he put me on ignore, so no luck there anymore.

Jun-20-07  Eyal: So 7102 is the new 8000?

jessicafischerqueen: <Mack> that's the second time you've posted "hang on a sec."

Is it your "signature" phrase?

"truculent" test, test...

Jun-20-07  Eyal: A J Goldsby - but most of the fun stuff is purged now, I'm afraid. However, see <Karpova>'s profile for some of his gems.
Jun-20-07  mack: Hang on a sec, you're right!

I've become a parody of myself.

Jun-20-07  WBP: <Eyal> <but most of the fun stuff> LOL

jessicafischerqueen: I'm sorry but that anti gay and lesbian stuff just burns my britches. this guy should be arrested or at least yelled at.

Case closed.

PS How many lesbians does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

heh

Jun-20-07  WBP: (Bet mine gets the axe as well--and should be "a Mayfly's")

BTW, I totally agree with you on his views on gays and lesbians
