| Jun-20-07 | | Eyal: <The knight, a problem child, moves (according to decree), To the diametric corner of a figure two by three.> And from <THE CHESSE PLAY>, a 16th century poem: The Knight.
The Knight is knowledge how to fight
Against his Princes enimies,
He neuer makes his walke outright,
But leaps and skips, in wilie wise,
To take by sleight a traitrous foe,
Might slilie seeke their ouerthrowe.

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Who wrote the <cheese play>? Does it mention <cheese> as well? I think we should unstandardized English spelling like it was before. More poetic looking! |
|

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Today, <Grand Cheesemaster> Nigel Short... (fill in rest) |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Eyal> on a serious note you might actually enjoy a game of <Seirwan> cheese. Bishops that can also be Knights, Rooks that can also be Knights. The tactics are simply incredible.
And Zero theory on it yet. |
|
| Jun-20-07 | | Eyal: I think the poem is anonymous; I once posted it in full in brankat chessforum, when a stanza from it was the "quote of the day". |
|
Jun-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Ah, the prolific <anonymous>. Greek fellow, was he? |
|
Jun-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: yes I remember your post now, I read the whole thing. I think <dom> is also familiar with the <cheese> in question. The <Edam-Gouda Attack> in particular. |
|
| Jun-20-07 | | Eyal: Oooops - actually, looking again at the link to brankat's forum, the name of the author appears there... |
|
Jun-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Eyal> are you preparing lessons right now? I should be studying French lines but I'm having too much fun. And I was very pleased with my play in the game I won today. First game I played since my exciting "adventure," if you catch my drift. I have returned to <full confidence> mode again. I was actually afraid to play there for a bit. |
|
Jun-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Name? I see no name there. Did <Tartakower> write it? Plus it's the <chesse play>, not the <cheese play>, like I thought. Rats. |
|
| Jun-20-07 | | Eyal: <Jess> That's great. And yes - I AM preparing lessons right now, and I really have to stay focused. So please stop creating so much fun here! |
|
Jun-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Will do! Maybe I'll spam <Wilson> summore. |

| Jun-20-07 | | samikd: OK this can't be just coffee ! |
|
| Jun-20-07 | | Tactic101: I was analyzing this position, but I accidently put your king on b1 instead of c1. This would make Kh7 okay here since Bc2 is met by Re1+. This would also have allowed me another defense after Bxf7. But, unfortunately, the king is not there. Hence, Kh7 is out of the window and I see only Kh8 as a viable continuation. Ah well. |
|
| Jun-20-07 | | Tactic101: Well, NOW you are crushing everyone at correspondance chess. You're beating me, <samikd>, <Squares>, <Ragh>, and, sooner or later <EoL>. Here's a warning though. Now that I know what you're capable of, I'm gonna make things even harder for you! I'll be back! (apologies to The Terminator, even though I've never seen it before. |
|
| Jun-20-07 | | Tactic101: <hayton3> has now, fortunately or unfortunately (whatever you chose) has been banned from kibitzing. |
|
Jun-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Hi guys! <Tactic> I'm sorry you misplaced the pieces. Remember, the FEN will be accurate, cuz if it isn't people always tell me. So you still won't resign!!
So <Kh8> it is. Again, I have only won once out of all those games up there against higher rated opposition. Oh also, if you download <baba chess> and use the board instead of a physical board, the pieces can't get knocked over etc. Plus you can fool around with a position and make as many variations as you like, saving all of them, and go back to the original position any time. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Sammy Kind> I made some posts to you, you can find them by going to the last page that you posted in. before today I mean.
You probably know all this and have read my reply to you. Not to be missed!!
Heh. King goes right, king goes left.
Flip a coin!! |

Jun-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Actually <tactic> you might be smart to play on here. I just spent two hours on the Net playing a 50 move Rook and pawn endgame. He resigned, but I think it was because he got bored to death watching me try to convert a one pawn advantage. I almost broke my brain!! Might have taken 15-20 moves or more to finish the game properly, no wonder the poor guy gave up!! (note to self= Rooks belong BEHIND passed pawns, unless the position says otherwise! Very tough kind of endgame, as I guess we all know) |
|
Jun-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: I hope I don't get banned!!! I only have one <mortal enemy> (not Whiteshark) now, so I've got fingers crossed. |
|
Jun-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Tactic> ok <h6> now for me. You see why <Re1+> doesn't help you here? I don't think this is a difficult position to finish you off from. Certainly easier than the dam game I just played on the Net. Your move!! |
|
| Jun-20-07 | | Eyal: <My favorite Cheese players> What about <Casablanca>? |
|
| Jun-20-07 | | chessmoron: http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail.... Quit smoking Kram!!! |
|
Jun-20-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Tactic> there's no forced win here for me or mating net or anything like that, as you well know. All I have to do now is be careful for the next 30 moves. I'm up for it if you are!! |
