Jun-21-07  MostlyAverageJoe: I see that nobody pointed out yet that ignoring me does not make even a blip in the page count.

You nice people, you.

Or maybe I am already ignored by all.

Shudder.

Jun-21-07  Tactic101: This game, BTW, is my first loss in all the correspondance games I've played (about 5). At least I now know what kind of player you are. I think I stand a good chance winning this time. So beware!

BTW, have you read the posts of a past user called <FerociousBeast>? If not, I highly advise it. He was an obnoxious and rude member about 3 years ago. Sadly, he's stopped coming. We would all love to keep seeing his hilarious, dumb-witted posts again. Thankfully, his memory still lives on.

Here's one of his gems. Bless him:

jessicafischerqueen: <Tactic> I like this beast quote:

<THis is just a childs tournament anyway.. And since I wasn't Entered I mean was there any real chess players even there?>

Heh. Thanks for the link!

Well, <CG.com> has pruned the posts from this forum they wanted to get rid of, and still no email to me. I'm assuming the coast is clear now.

What were the ratings of the people you beat in Correspondence?

All the players I've beaten so far have been 200-500 points lower than me. Only higher rated wins are one against <samikd> and one against you.

I play around 1700 with the white pieces, and 1550 with the black pieces, on average. A sign of a poor chessplayer!!!

Sad but true.

The kind of player I am is <insanely aggressive> I don't like retreating active pieces, I don't like making prophylactics unless absolutely necessary (many times I almost played <Kb1> in our game--but I thought, don't need to yet-- and maybe I won't have to.)

I'm a poor defender, however, and with black I often bust my position trying for the initiative in the opening and early middle game. That blew up in my face in the second game I played with <samikd>. It's in my profile under "completed games."

I look forward to your withering attack with <d4>.

I'm going to take a bit of time selecting my response. I want to research this a bit, I hate playing against <d4>. Hate it.

So a good choice against me.

Maybe <Dutch>? I got killed by <achieve> playing <semi-slav>.

Hmmm. <Hippopotamus>?

I got to decide.

Jun-21-07  brankat: <jessica> You do have a very wide scope of interests. From Your profile I've not been able to determine whether they also include "paintings, drawing, etc", but Arts (in general) are there.

So, just to mention, in case You are not aware of this already.

Vancouver Arts Gallery, on Robson St., is having an exhibition of "modern European artists". Eighty pieces in all, from Cleveland Museum of Arts.

Among others, they include: C.Monet, Van Gogh, Cezane, Degas, Dali, Picasso!!!

It opened Monday last week, and I don't know when it closes.

All in all, if this is a thing "up Your alley", then, I believe, this may be once in a lifetime chance to see the masterpieces in Vancouver.

Still Love, Branko.

jessicafischerqueen: <Joe> how could anyone put you on ignore? They would miss your fantastic movie clips.

And who would ever ignore <ragh>?

You guys are the <dog's nuts> of the CG.com scene.

Sorry, I can't stop giggling about that line from the first <braniac> clip you posted here.

I say it to my Mom all the time now.

Heh.

jessicafischerqueen: <Branko> Holy crap that's a Treasure Trove of masterly artists, alright. Thanks for the heads up!!

I'm looking forward to hearing more about your "secret project" via email.

Whatever it is, I'm pretty sure I'm up for it.

Does it involve industrial espionage?

Wondering...

jessicafischerqueen: <Wilson, Niels and fellow film fans>:

I watched <The Dead Girl> tonight. What an amazing film. It's not a horror film, it's a very powerful character study with many fine actors. It's very reminiscent of <Crash>, IMO. Even a similar structure, and a similar emotional impact. Maybe even MORE realistic.

It's very powerful stuff, not for the weak at heart. But it's got prizes and nominations at film festivals, and for good reason. It's one of those rare films.

OK <Wilson> let's put it this way. It's waaaaaaaaay better than <Pretty Persuasion>. And I loved <Pretty Persuasion>.

jessicafischerqueen: <Joe> there's another reason why I post so much in here.

It wasn't originally intended to be a chess forum at first.

It was supposed to be a <blog> about <Cricket, Rugby, and Australian Rules Football>

I hope that clears things up a bit further.

  jessicafischerqueen: <Rah!> Hey!

What the heck happened to my dark square bishop??

This better not be another one of your "tricks."

Jun-21-07  brankat: <jessicafischerqueen> <Does it involve industrial espionage?> NO.

It is more dangerous :-) That's why I've been delaying. Just joking, of course. It is something that, I think, will be pretty hard to put in place.

But, I'll let You know Thursday. Promise.

P.S. <Ragh> is into tricks? Caution advised :-)

jessicafischerqueen: <Branko> yes, he is very much into "tricks."

He tried his patented <Petrov Raghttack> on me in our current Correspondence game.

He invented it!

Jun-21-07  Tactic101: Well, they were all on gameknot. One was against <ahmadov> (won with white pieces, rating 1650) and <dktq> (won with white, rating 1700) The rest have been against lower rated players.

I'm not very happy with the game I just played. I didn't really blunder, but I couldn't find a good plan to stick with and the doubled f-pawns eventually killed me. That won't happen this time.

Jun-21-07  WBP: <Tactic> <BTW, have you read the posts of a past user called <FerociousBeast>? If not, I highly advise it. He was an obnoxious and rude member about 3 years ago. FIDE World Championship (2004> I went to this link and scanned up and sdown, looking for a post by <FerociousBeast>, but it's not there. Perhaps LifemasterAJ deleted it.

Here's a little gem form his forum today:
<< who: <LMAJ: I have complete control over these pages now, I can delete ANY post at the click of the mouse. It makes no sense to post something ugly, it will be removed, post-haste.> Is that true? Since when does CG give that sort of power on a player's page? >

Of course its true. (And just to prove my point ... I deleted your post.)> Heheh!

<Jess> Anyway, looks like all this is now behind. Congrats on your win over Tactic. Being one known to sac a piece now and then, I find your style most aggreeable. And good luck to both of you in the rematch.

Jun-21-07  Tactic101: It's there. <FerociousBeast> is one heck of a joker. His other comments are even funnier. Check all his kibitzes. Here's another:

I can Beat every type of chessmaster blindfolded and with knight odds. SUPER BIG TIME GRANDMASTER OF THE WORLD, FERBY

<iron maiden> Yes, of course you can, but first you have to convince them to put on a blindfold and give you a knight.

He claimed to have a 3000+ rating on ICC, but members found that his rating is actually 1250. This guy was great.

Jun-21-07  Tactic101: Thanks for the support, WBP! :)
Jun-21-07  Karpova: Another gem:

C Forbes vs Fischer, 1992

<FerociousBeast: very weak play by a girl. i can see why fischer refused to play in a tournament because a girl was in it.. it is very disrespectful and if a girl was in a tournament i was in i would request her to leave or leave.

ferociousbeast aka the beast>

<square dance: ferocious english perhaps?>

Jun-21-07  Tactic101: I wonder what Fischer has to say on Judit Polgar and her sisters now.......... I remember a comment made by him some time ago:

"They're all weak, all women. They're stupid compared to men. They shouldn't play chess, you know. They're like beginners. They lose every single game against a man. There isn't a woman player in the world I can't give knight-odds to and still beat." (1961 interview with Ralph Ginzburg)

Jun-21-07  Tactic101: From what I've seen, in your games, you sometimes choose unorthrodox openings. Better be prepared....... I don't want to be thrashed again.
Jun-21-07  YouRang: <jessicafischerqueen> (Re: Mortal Enemy position) <Just submit your resume if you're interested, via my email.>

Great! I'm sure that I can pass the <high intelligence> requirement. I mean, jeez, I seem to be the only person around who knows what estamps are!

Anyway, I'll send you that email as soon as I can find someone who'll lend me an estamp.

Jun-21-07  Ziggurat: <I wonder what Fischer has to say on Judit Polgar and her sisters now.>

I recently read that Korchnoi has similar opinions, and that he was seen lecturing Judit Polgar and Pia Cramling about how they don't understand chess because they were women - even though he had lost to both of them in the past! Some people are just not swayed by facts. I suspect Fischer is the same.

Jun-21-07  Ragh: Fischer and the Polgars share a very cordial relationship. In fact, from what I read long time ago, Fischer stayed at the Polgars' residence while he was on a trip to Hungary and he even played some games with the three sisters and Leko.
Jun-21-07  MostlyAverageJoe: <Tactic101: I'm not very happy with the game I just played. I didn't really blunder>

Well, I run some extended analysis on that game, and, until the last move, <Jess>'s play was nearly perfect (one minor inaccuracy in the earlier phase, just before you missed that counterattack on the queen side). You had two relatively small inaccuracies elsewhere (I can dig them up, although I recall someone posting them already), and <Jess> exploited them, just chipping away and conducting psychological warfare in her comments.

If anything qualifies as a blunder it would be resigning after <Jess>' worst move of the game (it is not that it was bad, but it left her with maybe 60% of the advantage she had before it) ...

Curiously, Fritz8 evaluated the ending position at over +2 for white. Hiarcs - at something like +0.95, and Rybka at +0.77 (yeah, I bit the bullet, installed BootCamp/Vista on my Mac - what an abomination that is - and am playing with the free/demo versions of other engines to add to my puzzle evaluation experiment, since nobody would help me :-(

Jun-21-07  WBP: <Jess> I just sent you an email I hope you'll find mildly amusing.

<Tactic> <It's there> Still can't find it. Is it on page 100 of that link, which is the page the link takes me to?

Jun-21-07  MostlyAverageJoe: <WBP> Use Search Kibitzing and search for "every type of chessmaster blindfolded and with knight" - there are just a couple posts where this occurs, and I am not sure which one <Tactic101> had in mind.
Jun-21-07  WBP: Thanks <MAJ>
