| Jul-25-07 | | achieve: <Dom> wazzup?
I don't know what spew me means and I don't care..
I thought you were on to the Dutch translation.. As a fun coincidence.. If you'll excuse me I do not have the time to work this out now, but I think it needs to... What does the Thesius comparison mean?
I suggest to take a back seat, until you get things straight! If I have misunderstood you please let me know.. I am just a jealous foreigner etc. You know me well enough to put that remark in context.. Do not take this out of context, though I might have a role in this too.. |

| Jul-25-07 | | achieve: <Dom> I may have misunderstood your last two posts.. If so, I apologize. Sometimes it's difficult to tell all the differences. I may have got excited/ irritated for nothing..

| Jul-25-07 | | achieve: <Domdaniel: <Niels> -- <Is that pure brilliancy or .. ?>> I was referring to the translation!! My fault entirely..
Sarcasm not intended.

 | | Domdaniel: <Achieve> Theseus, according to legend, was the first thread-follower. Through the labyrinth to the lair of the Minotaur and (crucially) back out again. The king's daughter - Ariadne - helped him. "The Athenians ascribed to this prince numerous exploits that were the beginning of democracy. He deposed tyrants, freed his fellow citizens from terror, and ended onerous tribute to foreign power. Most famous was the slaying of the Minotaur, assisted by Ariadne, a Cretan princess ..." (A Dictionary of World Muthology) That's the thing about heroes. King's daughters would fall over themselves for them... jump into their beds and unpick the blanket to make a life-saving thread. Your non-heroic bloke tends to go "Oh, I'm sure things will work out fine, and now while you're in my bed quit unpacking the blanket, I've a much better idea." Which is where king's daughters' daughters tend to come from. 'to spew' is much like 'to vomit': <uitbraken>, I think. Part of a cannibal thread that never used the word cannibal but left hints of the form 'stew me' and 'spew me'... oh, screw me, not much of a joke really. I don't wanna be eaten. I want my ashes spread in Amsterdam, breaking all kinds of city laws. Strew me.
That should be easy: <strooien> |

 | | Domdaniel: <Niels> Aha. You didn't want to use the verb 'naaien' -- how do lawyers survive? |
|
| Jul-26-07 | | achieve: <Dom> hehe Yes, "naaien" is Dutch slang for "to screw" someone, (the bad way).. So to me that typo was awkward, especially in talking to La Reine.. <how do lawyers survive?> Indeed. They make a living out of it.. < Theseus, according to legend, was the first thread-follower.> Thanks, yes I do remember that now.. It's been a while, too. Stew, spew, strew -- All are starting to make sense! The <spew me> threw me off initially, sorry for that. Thanks for explaining. Btw <Ariadne> is still used as a name for girls here. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: What in the name of tarnation are you two talking about? This better not be one of those "learning experiences" I've been hearing about, the kind where I have to put some kind of mental effort in. It's enough that I'm already devoting so much effort to lying down on the couch and watching Television, for Cripe sake. And don't get me started on these <corned beef> tins. The stupid <keys> always get tangled in the dam metal and you can't even get the beef out of the tin. I mean really! |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Ah CRAP.. Three decisive results at <Bee> tournament and there goes 150 <chessbucks> down the toilet betting on <Grischuk> to win. Well, I'm going to get some sweet odds on my next bet. I just put 200 to WIN on <Nigel Short> against <Kamsky>. Here's my reasoning.
After all that's happened between <Short and Kamsky>, and after <Short's> disastrous start, he has to win this game or he has to admit to himself that he is DIRT. I believe he will wake up and remember he is a <premiere Grandmaster> and make me a fortune in <chessbucks>. I bet <Short> goes off at 6-1 or better by the time the wicket closes on this one. Heh. You heard it here first!! |
|
| Jul-26-07 | | achieve: <Jess> did you replay the Grischuk - Radja game? White gave away the win at least once.. But it was a courageous game by Radjabov, sacking 2 pawns.. Re: <Tim Krabbé> I had a lot of fun reading Master Jacobson and thought of a great book by him titled: "De Renner". About his experiences concerning cycling. It was published in the US by the title <The Rider> I think you'd love it! Maybe you can get your hands on it. |
|
| Jul-26-07 | | achieve: <Jess> And I sent you an EMU about the poem/lyrics by your friend Andrew that you posted a few days ago.. |

 | | Domdaniel: Well, Gufeld once lost five in a row in the soviet championship -- and won a sacrificial brilliancy in the next round. If our old pal <GufeldStudent> were here, he could say "I knew Eddie Gufeld. Eddie Gufeld was a friend of mine. And Kurtz -- you ain't no Eddie Gufeld." Zero after Zero. Like a Mitsubishi factory in 1940. |
|
| Jul-26-07 | | Dr.Lecter: <jess> your reasoning for Short seems to be justified. but what if he DOESN'T remember that he is a premiere GM, and DOESN'T remember that he has to clear up his act. So far, I think he did a great job forgetting his identity as a former world championship challenger |

Jul-26-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Hi <Niels>! glad you liked the story. I loved it. And what a coincidence he wrote about cycling as well!! I will look for that book in the Liberry. I haven't checked my Beemails yet but I will shortly. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Dom> what's the lowdown on this <Cuefelt> fellow? Snooker player, was he? |

Jul-26-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Doctor> the worm almost always turns, but when is another matter. Has the game been played yet? Did I win?
I've been busy watching Television. |
|
| Jul-26-07 | | Ragh: Hey <couch potato>, whats on the idiot box thesedays. You chickened out from the world championship game. haha. |
|
Jul-26-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Hi RAH!
I haven't really been watching TV I've been getting all these maddening details taken care of so I can go to Asia. My application to the <Tegue Ministry of Education> is finally sent off, I just got the last of my vaccinations, and today the <Police> offically declared me <not a criminal> in an <official police document> so that I can pass Korean customs. YAAYYYYYYY!
I think I have time Saturday or Sunday to play GAME TWO of the <2007 World Championship: Mikhail Tal v Viswanathan Anand>. Current score: 1/2 1/2. |
|
Jul-26-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Well OK I DID watch the last <mountain leg> of the <Tour de Farce> |
|
| Jul-26-07 | | Ragh: Alright <not a couch potato>, weekend sounds a good option for the game. <today the <Police> offically declared me <not a criminal>> I wonder how this miracle could have happened. But thats great news. |
|
Jul-26-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Thanks <Rah!>
OK How about <Saturday Afternoon>? You get the white pieces. |
|
| Jul-26-07 | | Ragh: <Jess> Sure, then is Saturday noon PST ok? |
|
Jul-26-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Rah> OK What about like 2 pm PST on <Saturday>? I with my <chess coach> at <Noon>. |
|
Jul-26-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Well I just lost 200 betting <Short> today, so I just pounded 500 bucks down on <Motylev> to beat <Carlsen>. <Motylev> has a win and a draw with the White pieces agaisnt the <Midget>!! You heard it here first. But remember, I don't know what I'm talking about so everyone please bet on <Carlsen> to win, OK? I need better odds.
Heh. |
|
| Jul-26-07 | | Ragh: Jess, that sounds good. |
|
| Jul-26-07 | | Ragh: I haven't betted on the Midget with the chessbookie, but I have him winning in the super-prediction contest that is being organized by the Lurch. |
