jessicafischerqueen: Your over there regimen sounds salubrious! Interestingly, in Canada we save time by spelling "music and poker" as "moker." Initially we spelled it "poomus" but that sounded a little too declasse, even for us...

Aug-18-07  Open Defence: <No chess grandmaster is normal> that might explain why Fischer was such a strong chess player
Aug-18-07
Premium Chessgames Member
jessicafischerqueen: Yes, but even <Bobby> got his <Grandmaster "Normals">, don't forget.
Aug-18-07  Ragh: <Open Defence> If insanity is directly proportional to chess strength in GMs, then I wonder what eccentricities does today's top-GMs Vishy and Kramnik might have -- coz they look pretty normal on the outside though. Probably, the trend is changing? The next generation of players like Carlsen, Radjabov, Karjakin and co, all have adorable personalities (atleast in their youth phase until now).

<IM Jessica Fisher> The Bridge on the Kwai River is one of the best classics I watched.

jessicafischerqueen: Many of you will be pleased to know that <Ragh> is in fact <V. Anand>.

don't tell anyone though! He's trying to keep it secret.

Aug-18-07  Ragh: lo! Declaring it openly in <this> forum AND wanting to keep it a secret at same time!!! Well, that ain't gonna happen in million years.
Aug-18-07  ahmadov: You joined this web site in September last year and your forum has over 280 pages. This is just amazing...

  jessicafischerqueen: <ahmadov>

Yes, but on closer inspection you will discover it's <not so amazing>.

In fact, due to a <spamming war> between me and one of my many <mortal enemies>.

Approximately 250 pages of this thread consist solely of lists of "facts" which aren't even correct.

Example:

<My Mom invented cows in 1954>

Ok since even a short sentence counts as a post and pages are calculated at 25 posts per page, you can appreciate that there are more than <ten million> spamming posts in my thread.

I hope that's been helpful!

jessicafischerqueen: Ah there we go back up to 280.

You see, my posts get deleted most of the time but since I post at least <800 times a day> I generally "stay ahead."

Aug-18-07  ahmadov: <My Mom invented cows in 1954> That is quite interesting... Did you not have cows before that :))) ?
Aug-18-07  ahmadov: Sorry for this question, but are you posting because it is your hobby or you want to reach to acirce?

jessicafischerqueen: Well I'm not really competetive by nature.

But I just can't shut up!

I hope this has been of help.

There were no cows before <1954>.

"Photographs" of pre-1954 cows are in fact doctored photos in aid of a conspiracy even vaster than the one to cover up the fact that <space aliens> landed in the <USA> and currently run their government.

Oh and the <trilateral commission> too.

And, some insiders believe, the <United Nations>.

And a few believe that <aliens> also invented the <pyramids> and the <Orangutan opening: 1.b4> in their spare time.

Aug-18-07  brankat: Somehow I always forget whether it was Sir Alec or W.Holden :-)

  jessicafischerqueen: <Branko> It's <Bill Holden> says the line.

All the other major characters are dead when he says it.

Aug-19-07  brankat: <jessicafischerquen> Yes, Holden, of course. The last one left standing. Thanks.
Aug-19-07  achieve: <Zebra>--<Excellent question. I have discovered the following:

<VISA. 1831, "official signature or endorsement on a passport," from Fr. visa, from Mod.L. charta visa "verified paper," lit. "paper that has been seen," from fem. pp. of L. videre "to see" (see vision). Earlier visé (1810), from Fr. pp. of viser "to examine, view.">>

Thank you for that thorough research! I suspected there was more to it.

Btw It's hard to tell where you'll pop up and why and when.. Good ploy! ;-)

<Jess> Same for you, except for the "when" part.. ;-p

  jessicafischerqueen: Hi HO!
Aug-19-07  hangingenprise: <jessica my queen> i shall pine away the moments that you are gone by studying and memorizing all of fischer's game, internalizing each one separately. i did not win your dowry of fischer materials, but faint not dear lady, neither did anyone else, so i live to joust another day. the three books you recommended i have two. i am leery of soltis because sometimes he writes "junk", and isn't fischer rediscovered a rehash of his sixty games?

  jessicafischerqueen: Yes it's a <rehash> with <questionable annotations>, in fact.

However, my playing strength is so low that the annotations of a <trained monkey> would improve my game.

Plus the book has a nice cover!!

jessicafischerqueen: Hey I want a big poster of the <young fischer> and there's nothing on <e-bay>.

What gives!

Aug-19-07  WBP: Hi <Jess> I've been very distracted of late, and will be even more so in days and weeks to come. School, you know.

Bet you're excited! How soon after you arrive before you begin to teach? (Didn't someone tell me before that Korean schools begin in October?)

I'm hoping to become faculty sponsor of a chess club at one of the colleges (can't really do both--not enough time). I've heard that there are a fair number of students interested. I'm certainly going to have to brush up my game if I do so, however!
