 | | jessicafischerqueen: thanks for posting your <Stonewall Jackson> game Niels! I'll have to wait prolly to next weekend to play it our over my board. I have to teach tomorrow. On the other hand, maybe I'll be able to look at it tomorrow. I got to find a coupla pieces from my board. I know they are in this room somewhere so they can't escape!! AWHOOOGA |
|
| Oct-07-07 | | achieve: That's OK - if you wait for a week it might get buried! (page 301, page 301..) |
|
Oct-07-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: It will never get buried.
The Dutch will last forever!
In fact, the <great Jan Timman> game may well last forever just by itself. My goodness there are a pile of people working long hours on that thing. The voting seems to follow the opinions of the "top ten" analysts/organizer, so I don't see how even <the Great Jan Timman> stands a chance. I predict another victory for the team.
Regards,

| Oct-07-07 | | achieve: I would bet 10:1 that "we" are going to win, again.
The performance rating must be over 3000, I would guess.. |
|
Oct-07-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Yes, take a couple of dozen informed, experienced chess fanatics, incredible organization of effort, and five thousand state of the art Engines processing their heads off with sliding whatever they do and poor old <Jan Timman> is toast, I think. Regards,

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Oooh <Jurassic Park> is on TV. I'm watching dinosaurs eat people and roaring in Korean subtitles. |
|
| Oct-07-07 | | achieve: Agreed, but I wouldn't go as far as willing to put my hand in the fire for.. Timmerman must be a warned man and VERY eager to get a result, me thinks... I'm not sure if a 10:1 was a fair reflection on second thought.. |

Oct-07-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Well I doubt he's got time to concentrate all his efforts on this one game since he's a Correspondence Expert who makes his living, I presume, playing chess. Also, I doubt he can afford to hire people to run 400 different computers at light speed to check lines 250 moves ahead. If the <Great Jan Timman> wins, he will truly be World Correspondence champ. Oh wait he's already champ.
Ok never mind then. |
|
Oct-07-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Wow somebody just got crunched on <Jurrassic Park>. Where do you think they hired all those dinosaurs from? I think I recognize some of them from the Nixon administration. |
|
| Oct-07-07 | | achieve: Have a good night and week, <Jess>! I'm pulling the plug now for a while.
It all started with the EMU when it was still dark- quite a day! |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: OK take care <Niels> great to have a chance to "talk with you" for a change. Say goodnight to <Lars> for me too. |

| Oct-08-07 | | BishopofBlunder: Hi Jess,
I have just gone over to the Dark Side and become a Chessgames.com Premium Member. Just a little birthday present to me, from me. (By the way, I keep checking the post for my gift from you. It hasn't arrived. But I realize the mail system in Korea is a little slow. Pulling those rickshaws has to be fatiguing.) Anyway, my chessforum, a.k.a. the BlunderDome, is open for business. Feel free to stop by and share some of your charming wit (I could use all you could spare). And bring your friends. Just tell them it's the place where the beer is warm and the smiles are cold. |
|
| Oct-08-07 | | BishopofBlunder: Oh, just one more thing:
Hurry, before they come to their senses and revoke my membership!!! |
|
| Oct-08-07 | | achieve: <Jess> Just a quick word.. I watched the Fountain a 2nd time but it still didn't work for me, so I took two others off the shelf-- One with Hillary Swank (as a teacher I believe), and the other <The Illusionist> with Edward Norton. So I asked the two girls at the counter which one I should pick, and one of them immediately said the Swank-one, but the other girl hesitated for a sec (she looked smarter), so I immediately went for the illusionist. Wonderful film-- Beautiful sets/locations and costumes, back to the turn of the last century, nice script and twist in the storyline, wonderful music by P. Glass, well just a joy to watch, really. Takes you to another place in an elegant, engaging way, is how I would sum it up -- which is all I hope for/expect when renting a DVD. If you haven't seen it, I would sure recommend it.
__________
What the heck are you doing not up and up in the middle of the night?! |
|
Oct-08-07
 | | jessicafischerqueen: Yes, the <illusionist> is a grand film. I enjoyed it as well.
Heh I'm actually at work right now. |

Thanks for the tip, but I hope you're wrong. I just bet my entire chessbucks account on Grischuk. The man is on fire! And anyway, shouldn't you be asleep? It's like 2am in the morning there right? Hmm...no, wait...it's 2am in the morning here! I should be in bed. It's like 2am in the afternoon there. You should be eating kim chi, or tai chi, or feng shui, or whatever they eat for lunch over there... Your friend, and host of the newly opened <BlunderDome>,

 | | jessicafischerqueen: I bet all my chessbucks on the <OC and Stiggs> team in the <European cup>. I think <banana> will join them as first board, though they are in 5th place at the moment. Regards,

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Thanks <Bill>!!
I couldn't have done it without you.
Literally.
I put you on ignore, and the pages shrink to under 300. So I put you off ignore.

| Oct-08-07 | | Boomie: <jessiKimNoParking> Greetings earthling. Hope all is well. Are your students learning English faster than you Korean? When you teach 'em chess, I'll bet that en passant drives 'em crazy. How's Autumn going there? Do they have colors? Maybe something in a plaid? RSVP at chez moi where I may have a chance to unearth it. And remember the Air Farce instructions for alien contact. "Avoid eye contact. If there are no eyes, avoid all contact." |

| Oct-09-07 | | achieve: <Take a few examples: Sylvester Stallone won the Oscar with Rocky, seemingly out of nowhere. But not so. As a porno actor in New York, he knew almost everyone in the legitimate film business. So of course they looked at his script. Same with <What's his name>, the <Almost FAmous> guy. His first screenplay apparently out of nowhere, but he had tons of film contacts already due to his writing for <Rolling Stone> magazine-- and that was a gig he got only because he personally knew <Lester Bangs> of <Creem> magazine. I think you should ask that woman out.> Apologies for not acknowledging this yesterday. For some obscure reason I missed it - Possibly blinded by my newly discovered- and latest crush on a moviestar...Your namesake <Jessica Biel>! Especially the way she presented herself when interviewed for the bonus material in The Illusionist! She didn't come across AT ALL like the image I had of her being a Hollywood Babe or anything like that -- very charming and classy. BTW I found Rufus Sewell's portrayal of Crown Prince Leopold brilliantly done! I hadn't heard of him (that I could remember)- and he reminded me a bit of Joaquin Phoenix... <Jess> I'm just rambling at your place again and one more thing... Don't you agree that <Greg Pecker and Faye Runaway> should top the list as <Cinema's most treasured Couple>? I think they should...
