Enough praise... Now got to your room and study those bonecrusher videos!

<Jess> When you have some time, check out this BRILLIANT game by the Master-- as he manages, like a magician, to capture the White Queen!

Does Kasparov see it already from move 13? Astonishing...

Oct-10-07  Plato: Hey Jess, been a while. I was disgusted by the renewal of the hostilities with <dp>, so I just took a long break. Don't be surprised if I take more long breaks in the future... especially when I owe you grovels ;-)

But what grovels do I owe you, pray tell? I've already forgotten. Kramnik won Dortmund over Anand, so that's another grovel you owe me! Did you pay me that one? If so, it was after I had left here. And the Cavs got to the finals but lost (badly), so I don't owe you a grovel there. As for Mexico, I had stopped posting long before we made predictions on that to bet on (but Anand was my pick, truly, though I know I can't expect you to give me an "ok-I'll-take-your-work-for-it" grovel!).

jessicafischerqueen: hi <Plato>!! It's super great to hear from you man.

I was also disgusted by <dp's> behavior and told him so.

We are currently not on speaking terms.

Tell you the truth, I've also forgotten the exact details on our betting.

But <Eyal> remembers- he remembers everything.

HOwever, we can just call it even.

its so good to hear fROM YOU!!!

Please don't be a stranger when you sign in.

Your pal (very excited to see you again)

JFQ

Oct-11-07  Plato: I'll be sure to ask Eyal in Hebrew... that way even if he answers that, in fact, I do owe you grovels, I can translate his comment however I want and attribute it to my somewhat limited Hebrew. (I don't know the Hebrew word for "grovel," for example, so there's no way I'll know to pay up!)

<Please don't be a stranger when you sign in.>

Sorry about that -- please don't take it personally. I didn't know if he had gone on ridiculing me after I left (and didn't really want to bother checking) and I also didn't know if I was still welcome in this forum after all that nonsense. But now that I see everything's cool, I'll try to drop in here first thing after every hiatus (and there will be many, I expect, just because of a fluctuating work schedule). I don't plan on being as active a kibitzer as I used to be, but hopefully I won't just end up quitting like many others have.

Hope all is well with you, <Jess of the Grovels> :P

Oct-11-07  achieve: HEY!! HO!!

<Freedom Writers> is a very good film..

RIGHT!! WATCH IT!!

Hi <Plato>, good to see you back- keeping <slomarko> sharp if needed... ;-)

(Actually, you keep everybody sharp- on the World Team, as well)

Oct-12-07  Benzol: <jess> Just want to know if you anything about a new film about Bob Dylan during the mid 1960's. Various actors are playing him.

Also have you ever seen actor James Whitmore in his portrayal as Harry Truman. I think it was titled "Give Em Hell Harry" or something like that.

I haven't heard about the new Dylan film or the Truman film.

But I saw the <Truman Show> once.

Frank you fer da post. You make me blush with humility which fills me with pride.

<Teaching is very difficult- they don't know a word of english.

I don't know a word of korean.>

I wonder how the teachers of Babel dealt with the problem? Maybe you could invent a new babble like Korish or Englean. Meet the little buggers half way. Throw out the TH and L would be a good start.

Yours in sanity, Timber

jessicafischerqueen: <Timeus> dont get me started!!

Koreans make two sounds, both somewhere in between a "k" and a "g".

Neither is actually a "k" or "g", however, and they sound identical to me.

I even convinced a Korean teacher to let me stick my finger on his upper palate while he pronounced the two sounds but it didn't help.

HELP

Oct-13-07  twinlark: I think it's called an unaspirated uvular stop. The "k" blows a bit of wind past your tonsils, and so does the "g", but with voice added in.

Try and stop the wind at your tonsils.

god I hope that isn't as ridiculous as it reads...

jessicafischerqueen: Thanks for the tips <Doggimus>. But I think I'm beyond all hope.

I just watched a Japanese horror film.

Did you know that the Japanese word for "yes" (neh) and for "give me" (juseyo) are the same as in Korean?

Bloody unaspirated uvulas.

My uvula can't do it!!

I think it might be broken.

  jessicafischerqueen: Hi <Niels>!!

I'm going round the bend out here.

I hope you're doing better than me.

I MISS FATSO!!

My mom sent me a letter and Fatso keeps looking for me.

Oct-13-07  achieve: Feel lonely? I'm sorry to hear that - I feel really lucky to have Lars around the house... He is my salvation almost, if you get my drift...

I can understand you miss <Fatso>, naturally...

Plus your weekly schedule must take a lot from you.

You are a brave young woman, believe me! ;-)

jessicafischerqueen: Well I'm so brave I feel like an old shoelace.

I'd get a cat but I'm at work 500 hours a day so It would be cruel to keep an animal in my apartment under those conditions.

Thank goodness for <Lars>!!

I've said it before-- a good <wiener dog> can save your life in the field.

Dang these animals!!

You just have to love them.

Oct-13-07  achieve: <I've said it before-- a good <wiener dog> can save your life in the field.>

Lars is a questionmark, yesterday I spotted a little mouse running from one side of my living room to the other - but Lars just watched like they already had met before.. I got frantic and started yelling and a thorough clean up of my appartment followed soon, which was a good byproduct.

Hang in there, Jess, I'll send you a EMU this weekend.

jessicafischerqueen: Heh don't hurt the mouse, he might be one of <Lars'> friends.

Thanks <Niels>!! I'll be OK but your EMUS are precious treasures.

Fatso is a huge orange Tabby.

He is very old too.

Oct-13-07  Boomie: <jessplainfolks> You know what they say. They all sound alike. I wonder if they use the same Morse code? Perhaps sign language or smoke signals might do the trick.

Otherwise how is life under the spell of the Great Leader? Do you all dress alike and curse the US just like the Canadians?

It's been a while since I've gone to a Korean restaurant. I vaguely recall a main course of incendiary denizens of the deep with a slice of octopi for dessert.

The World vs Sock Puppet is heating up nicely. There may even be a pawn exchange within the next ten moves. Oh, the excitement! The board should open up shortly to reveal smoldering fireworks. What a Dutch treat that will be!

jessicafischerqueen: Hi <Tim> yes, your worst fears about <SK> are correct.

If you want to go to a place where you can see grown men sporting <Mickey Mouse T-shirts>, come on over for a visit.

Korean "culture" is primarily a 10th rate imitation of the ABSOLUTE WORST elements of American Pop culture.

There is, of course, a rather profound and beautiful traditional culture but today it is to be found mainly on the Internet.

I went to the most beautiful Buddhist Monestary nesteled high on a pristine mountain, and the Monk lived there alone.

Of course, she had a Satellite TV with 5000 channels on it to keep her company.

Sigh.

Yes, the <Great Jan Timman> is up against it with your unholy collection of cantankerous crabapples with the best chess brains and engines available.

I should think the fame of the <CG.com> team will grow, no?

Why wouldn't this be world-wide chess news?

Remember how big <The World v Garry Kasparov> was in the press.

After dispatching <the Great Jan Timman>, I think you guys should try to get <Krammy> or <Banana> to agree to a match.

Frankly I don't think any one man has the time to spend on the effort necessary to beat the <CG.com Team>.

jessicafischerqueen: Incidentally, I've got a day off here so predictably I've been playing chess on the Net.

Question: why do people keep playing <1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Qf6?>

<2...Qf6>????

I'm astonished that people who should know better (high Yahoo raters) are still inviting me to prove why this move is a mistake.

It's like 600000 years of chess history didn't exist or something.

Oh well, if they insist....

Regards,
JFQ
