jessicafischerqueen: Dang I'm hungry but I'm too lazy to wash my dishes.

Does this mean I'm a loser?

Or "cool"?

My friend Jon (a rich fellow) used to just throw out his dirty dishes.

Eventually he only bought paper plates and plastic cutlery.

Insane Olde Batte

jessicafischerqueen: Heh yes <Stony> I have a bad habit of eating and drinking while lying on my stomach watching films and chessgames on my laptop.

My keys are so sticky I have to wash my hands AFTER I use my computer!!

Well I'm too busy thinking about chess details to worry about such quotidian details.

Does that make me insane?

"Well... it all started when a couple of friends had me round... and then someone would bring out a bit of cheese...

Dec-10-07  Tacticstudent: <My keys are so sticky I have to wash my hands AFTER I use my computer!!>

My old keyboard was full of hair and food that 'sliped' inside through the keys; to make matters even worse, some keys were so used that there was no more marks telling what they were ('Enter', for example); but it really got broke when some Coke sliped through.

Dec-10-07  achieve: <Does that make me insane?>

No -- just a bit wacky, but that's cool imo

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

Looney tune

Dec-10-07  Boomie: <jessiKimChi: <Tim> Well I'm certainly glad you were in the gallery last night. I almost laughed my guts out.>

Your delight is the goal of your loyal savants, my liege.

Contrary to common knowledge, I am not a drunk woman. I used to have a taste for Scotch but quit when I decided I was liking it too much. The other rumor started back in the day when I worked as a bouncer at a monster Halloween party dressed as an office girl out on the town. There were quite a few amusing scenes. My favorite was pinning a leather jacketed motorpsycho dude against the wall for pinching the ladies. There is great power in a well fitting dress and monkey skin gloves.

Dec-11-07  Open Defence: actually the reverse happened to me... when I played a lot of chess I invariably played Black most of my games and somehow I feel I am stronger with Black than with White, in fact I often struggle with White as I try to avoid my own favourite Black lines (psychological block perhaps)

WannaBe: <Open Defence> Ditto here, especially on GK.com, where all the 'offered' games have the initiator playing white, because they chose to.

I've grown accustomed to playing black side, and feel very comfortable with it.

I, at times, feels awkward playing white, where you have the first move, and is 'suppose'? to be aggressive, and possibly is the first one to blunder, etc, etc, etc...

Yes, Black is still OK!

Dec-11-07  achieve: I have those things too... And it switches colour once in a while with me...

I mean...

Dec-11-07  Tacticstudent: <OpenDefence>The great advantage you have when playing White is that on can choose how the game will run. For example, you want the game to tactical, you can play 1. e4, you want the game to be more positional, you play 1. d4, and so on. With Black, you will have to play what opponent wants, what sometimes is a problem.

I particularly have better results playing with White, because I am more experienced to that opening than my opponent is. I do OK with Black, especially with the Sicilian and the KID, but I prefer White.

Dec-11-07  square dance: <jess> here you go. http://www.amazon.com/Chopper-Eric-...

you can read some of the customer reviews, too, so you know that im not recommending a snakes on a plane-esque type of film. ;-)

ok, i guess it wasnt that hard to find. it seemed like it took me longer though.

This "common knowledge" is sometimes both "uncommon" and "unknowledgable".

What this, means, however, I couldn't say.

  jessicafischerqueen: <Niels, Deffi, MannBee, TacticsStudent>:

Thanks so much for your comments on the "psychology of color."

I don't feel so alone now.

I swear to God I actually felt GUILTY for playing white so much...

But since FORCING myself to play one color alternately, and FORCING myself to keep a log of all my games, and FORCING myself to put my engine on my losses (torture!), that I feel BRAVE and ENTERING NEW CHESS TERRITORY.

Tactics is 99% of chess?

Maybe.

In my case, I can tell you that <Psychology> is 99% of chess.

Dec-12-07  achieve: Tasty gravy indeed <Jess>

I nominated you twice- one for the Caissar for <Best Written Post> at Mannbee's place - I had it copied to my profile at first but removed it for the Brankat - Deffi match, and now I can't find the post anymore...

You ended it with "Dang I got so excited I reformatted my screen! Doh!"

Ok I'll find it - I laughed my buns off I remember...
