May-20-08  achieve: <notyetagm> Great play by "Anand" there!

I played on (a bit shakily) against my engine after the < Rxd6! > shot - and got myself almost in trouble - i.e., my Knights were chased by the black King...

Previous moves (and this is where the "full" notation proves its worth)

1 ... Kf6-e7
2 Ne8-c7(!?) Kd7 (going after the Knights)

click for larger view

And I found the double <ALI SHUFFLE> Knight maneuver: 3 Na6! Kc6 (oh..) 4 Nbc7! e5 5.Nd5 Kb5 6.Nac7! Kc5 7.b4+ and all is peaceful and "re-organized" --

In this position it is of course of trivial value but the < Knight-maneuver> when a King comes rushing towords them - is of course useful to have in your armour... Armour being having given the maneuver a "name", an identity, like <ALI SHUFFLE> (double shuffle -- <5> Knight moves in a row) - to lock it firmly in the brain's <memory file> -- which is what your <STYLE> i.e. <naming--identifying> -- essentially does...

That's why it's so effective and it even led me to come up with the <ALI SHUFFLE>.

;-)

May-20-08  Eyal: <Jess> Btw, were you still cheering for the Cavs this year? (I don't recall seeing <Cavs take it all you heard it here first> lately) - If so, I'm sorry they lost the semi-finals series in the 7th game to the Celtics... LeBron just can't take the championship by himself, he must have some better team players around him to do this.

  jessicafischerqueen: Hi <XZRABBA>@@

No, I saved time this year by <publickly disavowing> the Cavs due to them disappointing me so bitterly two years in a row.

They are dead to me!!

He is rightfully upset and P'd off at the moment... but he'll be back soon I'm sure.

May-21-08  notyetagm: <yalie: Thanks for the games notyetagm. No doubt this is Anand. Of course the five and six seconds are not really indicative since the top guys are aware of these possibilities a few moves in advance and try to get to a place where these plans can work. Notwithstanding the above caveat, fantastic tactics from Anand.>

Holy @#$%! Can you believe this? I was kibitzing with -Anand- a few days ago!!!!

Excerpts from my conversation:

pendex2008(GM) tells you: interesting
pendex2008(GM) tells you: i studied with Paco

pendex2008(GM) tells you: they only think I am Paco?

/Tell pendex2008! something about pendex being a Spanish slang word or something (told pendex2008, who is playing)
pendex2008(GM) tells you: it is
pendex2008(GM) tells you: i lived in spain for some time

Whisperto 1619 yikes! that could be Anand or Topalov then :-) notyetagm whispers: yikes! that could be Anand or Topalov then :-) (whispered to 38 observers)
/Tell pendex2008! yikes! that could be Anand or Topalov then :-)

That's when <pendex2008> told me that he was -not- Topalov! Holy criminy! I was talking to Anand!!!!!

May-21-08  square dance: <nyagm> thats pretty cool. definitely sounds like you were talking to the world champ himself. next time you should ask him how 1.d4/c4 is coming. ;-)
May-21-08  notyetagm: One more of the <pendex2008/Anand> games that I saved, with nice tactics.

White to play: 19 ?

It took Anand(?) all of 3(!) seconds to play 19 ♘e6-c7!, based on the <KNIGHT FORK> 19 ... ♕d6x♘c7?? ♘c3xd5+.

Position after 19 ♘e6-c7!

(VAR) Position after 19 ... ♕d6x♘c7?? 20 ♘c3xd5+

Just exquisite <KNIGHT PLAY> in all three of these examples by Anand.

May-21-08  achieve: Hi <Jess> -- I'll be closing my forum for a week or so, in order to give my full attention to some personal issues I have to take care of... Thereby limiting some daily forum-check-and-subsequent-fill-in-the-obvious type of distractions -- ie using my time more economically...

I will regularly look in at your and/or Mal's forums to keep upto speed and maybe have a friendly word or two ;-)

So this message is mainly to let you guys/friends know. And not to worry.

Regards,
Dr. N. Euwe

jessicafischerqueen: I'm very sorry to hear about another temporary shut down of the invaluable <Euwe Center>, obviously...

However, <personal issues> must come first of course, and you have my love and full support.

Feel free to use the EMU function at any time, I'm always up for private conversation.

Morphette of the hopes things will be good for <Dr. Euwe>

May-21-08  achieve: <However, <personal issues> must come first of course, and you have my love and full support.> That always helps -- it's nothing "major", but sometimes you have to get up and DO something...

(Actually I have one week to attend to several things and will need most of the available time over the next 6 days - that's all there is to it -- I'll send an EMU when I get around to it... Thanks for being a friend - I'll keep in touch here also... awakshjdfgyrewu868)

  jessicafischerqueen: Thanks <Dr. Euwe>!

I will try to be an "invisible wind" at your back as you solve your duties!!

And, of course, we will all celebrate when <The Center> re-opens...

May-21-08  Boomie: <jessicafischerqueen: <About to lose your Rook cuz it's pinned to your loose Queen? What to do...White to play and win>

Looks line Bd7 leaves white up a piece. Qxd7 Rxg6+ loses the queen so the bishop is immune. Like they say in San Francisco, one loose queen deserves another.

May-21-08  achieve: heh - Jess is my invisible wind... cool

Joe's forum is open again! ;-)

Correct!! Yes you solved the puzzle.

Heh-- the old <DEFLECTION LURING A PIECE TO A LOOSE SQUARE> ploy...

The Black Queen is defended on <c8>, but NOT on <d7>...

what incredible vision of the 15 year old <Bobby Fischer> to see this ahead of time and play the dashing <Rxe6>

(Black had a Knight on e6 till Bobby grabbed it)

May-21-08  Open Defence: hmmm I could ask <cg.com> to delete all my posts, that will bring this down to 300 pages :)

j/k

congratulations will be in order once the milestone is reached
