 | | jessicafischerqueen: Ooh thanks <branko> However, we both probably know what will happen-- and it won't involve much "wisdom," if past performance is any indicator.. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE BIG GAME...
Isn't it glorious? The <WORLD CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP>.... And we get to see it....
Now if only we could actually sit in the room and smell the fear and other emotions from the players... I'm guessing you weren't in Vancouver yet when <Fischer> played <Taimanov>? If you were, did you see any of it?
I've never once been to a "real tournament" in my whole life. (I have to get out of Korea Branko it's kind of driving me crazy-- not the place or the people-- but the lack of any kind of "live chess") |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Hey everyone look at the new big <TITLE> of my Forum-!! It's just above my "header" there where the Kibbutzing starts. <Brankat> showed me how to do it!!!! |
|
| Oct-18-08 | | Pyke: Hmm, something is strange here. It says Brankat's but it somehow ... *Looks* at <JFQ>: "Brankat, you look different than usual ... you lost some weight or what?" ;-) |
|

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Heh
Hi <Pyke> nice to see you at my house! I've been enjoying your often witty comments around the site for some time now. |
|
| Oct-18-08 | | Pyke: Thanks! I enjoy being here :-) |
|
| Oct-18-08 | | Red October: I guess I watched too many cartoons and listened to a lot of music in my day :) |
|
Oct-18-08
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Spaniel of Heaven> Nonsense! I don't think it's possible to watch too many cartoons and listen to too much music. Right now, for example, as I type this, I'm also watching the new <South Park> episode in a "box screen" and I'm listening to <Genesis>. Mrs. Overstimulated by the Electronic Media.
HELP THERE'S SMOKE COMING OUT OF MY HARD DRIVE |

| Oct-18-08 | | brankat: <jessicafischerqueen> The test and the first draft have been successful, and although I'm flattered You still need to give the forum a name. A real one :-) But for... Well, enjoy it while You can :-)
As for Korea, I assume You still plan to try Europe after the second year contract expires. I don't know about the demand for ESL staff in Europe. It seems that more or less everyone there already speaks the language. Certainly in the west. Perhaps Russia or Ukraine. There wouldn't be any shortage of Chess. Tournaments, clubs in every village and town, never mind cities, chess clubs in schools, in some of them Chess as a mandatory course; players, books etc. You'd think You're in Chess Heaven :-) Hungary is not bad either. China? Must have millions of chess players. Just try to avoid any too hasty decisions. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <branko>
heh..
Thanks for those encouraging ideas..
I expect I shall probably arrange something along those lines. Plenty of time to plan, as I'm here through next August anyhoo. Hmmm... trying to decide what <official title> to call my forum.. I really like MY idea of calling it <Brankat's Chess Palace>, though... Ok I'll get back to you later on this... |

| Oct-18-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: <<JFQ>
Was it due to the poor critical reception of <Snakes on a Plane>?> hehe I really liked snakes on a plane, you just have to make sure you have the appropriate blood-alcohol content before you start it up. I love your new forum header <JFQ>, I didn't even know such things were possible...I'm going to try one for myself in a bit. Seeing as it is Saturday I expect you are in the middle of grinding somebody's chess ego like so many coffee-beans...mine's an espresso thanks, no sugar....so GOOD LUCK and send some scalps this way! Can't wait for the WCC game today, although I expect it to be a quick draw for some reason. |

| Oct-18-08 | | hms123: <jess> I am using a comment by <niels> as the inspiration for the title of my forum. I like your title though (<queen jess>). <pyke> Botvinnik (pace jess) was the player that influenced me the most in the 70s when I got serious about chess. I probably sacrificed the exchange more than I should have, but it seemed to work for the most part. I don't think most people knew how to play those kinds of positions. Stop by my place if you get a chance. |

| Oct-18-08 | | madlydeeply: arright jess i opened it back up.
It's a lonely forum nobody ever goes there.
Since you asked....why...i've been needing to tell someone, doctor, i seem to be afflicted by keyboard turrets, see with the best and happiest intentions i log into chessgames, but the snarliest curmudgeonist comments come spewing out...so whenever i look back at what I wrote it is with shame generally, but this madness keeps going on and on and on...and that's all ANYBODY NEEDS TO KNOW!!! never saw snakes on a plane. Jackie Brown was such a sweet movie... OK BACK TO MEAN GUY GRRR |
|
| Oct-18-08 | | brankat: <madlydeeply> <..with the best and happiest intentions i log into chessgames, but the snarliest curmudgeonist comments come spewing out..> Relax. This happens to all of us. Comes with the territory called CG.com. Or the Internet. Fortunately enough, this also often makes for a lot of fun :-) |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Samuel L. Jackson> Yes, ultra sweet flick-- specially when <Robert DeNiro> shot <Brigitte Fonda> dead in a Mall Parking Lot solely because she just wouldn't shut up. Great scene, great film.
|
|
| Oct-18-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: <JFQ> you're awake! What is you reaction to Anand's win with black? Will Kramnik actually be trying to win today?? What would Fischer do in this situation?
(on wait, he went 2-nil down before..erm...systematically dissecting the most well rounded champion of the day...but it's hard to turn that into practical advice for Kramnik) |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Woodman>!
Answers to your statements and questions in order:
1. Yes
2. WHOOPA
3. No
4. Bite off his own head rather than settle for a draw I'm too excited to sleep! |
|
| Oct-18-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: <Bite off his own head rather than settle for a draw> You know, he was probably crazy enough to give it a try...How the hell would Spassky have explained that one to the police? Policeman: So you were playing this chess game in a small room backstage with no cameras and nobody else present..... Spassky: Da..I mean yes
Police:...and your opponent died by biting his own head clean off? Spassky: Correct.
Police: Your gonna have to do better than that busta! Your going to the chair for this! Lock him up! |
|
| Oct-18-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: Speaking of Spassky, do you ever look at the CG puzzles <JFQ>? They had a great Spassky position yesterday: Spassky vs Larsen, 1978 |
|
| Oct-18-08 | | madlydeeply: Hey Jess. Y'know, you gotta give it to QT...he really exalts his female leads. All two of them...Pam Grier and Uma Thurman. Jackie Brown was his loving tribute to Pam Grier. She deserved it. |
|
| Oct-18-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: <JFQ> I am trying to analyze a position from I Farago vs I Zaitsev, 1980 would you be kind enough to do me a HUGE favour and tell me what the computers think about the line: 19.Bxh6,gxh6 20.Nxh6+,Kg7 21.Nxf7!?
I don't believe the Knight can be taken (21..Kxf7 because of 22.Bg6+), but after 21..Nf6 white has 3 connected pawns for a bishop and the black king is exposed. My intuition says probable draw, but what do our silicon friends believe? Many thanks! |

| Oct-18-08 | | hms123: <woody> I have posted some Fritz runs for you at your place.--hms |
