| Nov-21-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: <JFQ> Me and <elephant> are setting up an <open consultation game> and we would be honoured to have you on-board! Proposed rules in my profile..take a look |

| Nov-21-08 | | Eyal: Hi, Jess! Where are you? Here's a nice game from the Olympiad for your Game Collection: English Opening against 3...Bc5: Vallejo-Pons vs M Prusikin, 2008. (Analyzing the game at http://webcast.chessclub.com/Olympi..., Larry Christiansen calls this Bc5 a "slightly coffee-house continuation"...) |

| Nov-21-08 | | just a kid: Are you going to join the team game? |
|
| Nov-22-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: Hey <JFQ>, I'm going to reply to you in here because it is so noisy in my forum at the moment! Plus I am going to give the <kid> a detention if he comes up with any more silly moves! <I suggest that when we "switch sides" for each move, we all PROMISE TO FORGET our previous analysis.> I like this suggestion, but do you have any idea how to actually do it? Extreme alcohol consumption after every move maybe? (wait a second, 1 move every 3 days...that would mean I have to cut down, can't promise that!) hehe
But seriously, my theory is that because <one person> is ultimately responsible for making each move (even after considering joint analysis) there will be some big disagreements over whether that move was the best or not. If somebody makes a move you have argued against, then you can devote yourself passionately to fighting against it in turn and proving it incorrect! I hope things will not get too polarized into white and black camps as the game progresses, but this is an experiment so we will have to wait and see. The one good thing about all being on the same team is there will be a lot of damage limitation and nobody's ego will get too bruised. Plus those players with a natural <killer instinct> like yourself will be fairly distributed between the colours, so no unfair advantage. If the game is a success, maybe we can do a <proper> team based one next-time. That could get quite cut-throat though, whereas I think this system is more akin to friendly analysis than an actual real life do or die game! |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: NO!
This <is> life and death.... If we fail to destroy ourselves, we will be destroyed!! Therein lies the <sheer genius>, not to mention <lunacy>, of your original concept... BTW switching from Alcohol to Aviation Fuel is a handy way to increase post-move memory loss. |
|
| Nov-22-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: <BTW switching from Alcohol to Aviation Fuel is a handy way to increase post-move memory loss.> hahahaha
Maybe you should let Kramnik in on the secret, he has a whole WCC to forget about. Then again, maybe Vishy had a special mix prepared for himself, but just wiping out all brain cells that liked to castle. Have you been following the Olympiad? Topalov is on fire! Kamsky is going to have a tough job, even tougher now its in Bulgaria... |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Yes, I noticed that the <Olympic Games> are on again already. Did you know they are holding them every two months now, and that Chess is now in the games? Amazing!!

Look in your forum for details... |
|
| Nov-22-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: I'm curious about your trip <JFQ>, how many little urchins did you have to drag there and look after? How many of them were sick on the coach? |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Battle of Bellau Wood> Actually I didn't go to North Korea.
Heh- the last Korean to go to North Korea got shot dead on the beach. It was at this resort town near the DMZ, and the old woman walked too far up the beach, and she got shot dead. I was actually working for a change- we had to write all the English Final Exams for six grades this week so I'm exhausted. But it's ready to go now.
I played chess a week ago Thursday and pounded someone with <1.c4>, the "opening of World Champions." I will be playing again tomorrow and I'm willing to wait hours for a high rated opponent. Mrs. Back to Chess |

| Nov-22-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: Ah ha...I was wondering about these reports but thought you must have gone somewhere with no internet so didn't think too hard about it. That certainly does sound like an awful lot of work...especially since I presume you will have to mark the whole lot as well. If 1.c4 is played in our game, I expect you to be equally merciless on yourself! hahaha |

|
| Nov-22-08 | | madlydeeply: That's nuthin. My good friend Sara never misses the yearly gorgonzola festival that takes place in the charming town of gorgonzola. I take it back. Limburger is definitely somethin'. |
|
| Nov-22-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: <I don't want to alarm you, but the "other Woody" has already started the <Consternation game> in your forum.> he WHAT!? how dare he! This is the last straw, going behind my back like this, he could be doing anything in there he is so evil and unprincipled! I have to get back before something dreadful happens, and he starts a fight with the <elephant>! Think of the children!

|
| Nov-23-08 | | Woody Wood Pusher: Hey <JFQ> I asked <Ziggy> but he is too busy for the main move making game, so I invited him to all the analysis he wants...hopefully he will find some time for a bit! |

| Nov-23-08 | | Boomie: <Au Jess, hms123>
The folding sentences result was a hoot, huh? At one point I wondered to Matt how we got from Kimodo dragons to Tarrasch in the OR. With great difficulty as it turned out...heh. At least I was consistent. I totally misunderstood the context at every turn. |

sounds a lot like Jojo's A little too late but still a very nice song, I have a different arrangement in mind, something like Talking Heads with the Bass line in a different timing and a very bland acoustic guitar |
|
| Nov-23-08 | | hms123: <Boomie, Jess> I agree--the sentences folded themselves quite nicely. As with most writing efforts, it took a bit to get into the flow, but once I did it went smoothly. Thanks to both of you--and, of course, to Matt. |
