Yep - in three days, 2 nights sleep, it's:

Sinterklaas Pakjesavond! (unwrapping the gifts)

Dec-02-08  malthrope: OK you two! ;)

<achieve: True - heh - <Mal> even had a tete-a-tete with the Chief admin at the Chessgames Page to have them extend the bit size (doh) of the profile section... At least that's what I remember from earlier this year...

He just did NOT quit til he got what he wanted!

(Priceless...)>

and...

<JFQ: <CG.com> is no match for <Mal>--

Think about it--

The things in his Profile are EXACTLY the kind of thing that makes the website worthwhile to begin with.>

You keep this up and I'll be wearing my <sheepish grin exposed again> all month long! ~lol~ Plus, looking back in the archives here see that I missed the last great puzzle combo. :(( Sheesh! Or, should I say - Darn! <grin> :^) - Mal

Dec-02-08  achieve: <You keep this up and I'll be wearing my <sheepish grin exposed again> all month long!> You better be!! Right into the New Year!

There are some very fine puzzles posted from the old Masters of Positional play...

~ROFL~ ;)

Which reminds me... :)

New Caissar award category:

<Best freakin' time in a Chessforum>

Jess wins this one hands down! <grin> ;) - Mal

Dec-02-08  achieve: <Mal>: <<Best freakin' time in a Chessforum>

Jess wins this one hands down!> Hands down?

Oookay.... ;)

(VERY naughty pun there...)

Niels - it's an old saying... :) I'll check the phrase in Google. However, I believe it's just that there is no voting necessary (hands up to vote) and thus 'hands down' requires no voting whatsoever it's unanimous! ;)

Checking <"hands down" + phrase> I get this, 'The Phrase Finder - Win hands down' // http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/...

Meaning: Win easily, with little effort.

Origin: Many phrases have originated as jargon in the world of sport. Looks like it's first quoted in the horse racing world ('Pips' Lyrics & Lays, 1867). Then later it began to be used in a figurative sense, to denote an easy win in other contexts, from the early 20th century.

Learn something new everyday... <grin> That should do it! :^) - Mal

Dec-02-08  achieve: <Mal> Of course - I know the phrase!

ROFL!

I invented the pun given the word combination (in Dutch too), and let you take the blame - and will now go to the corner and be bad....

;)))

Dec-02-08  achieve: PS/BTW - the "triple tongue-in-cheek" is hard to convey via this medium, though I guess the young'uns have found a solution for that too !?

heh

Dec-02-08  malthrope: <achieve: <Mal> Of course - I know the phrase! ROFL!>

Whoops! And, I fell ('dumped' is a better word) right into it! ^duh^

~ROFPIMPLMAO~ <sheepish grin>

Jess is gonna have a field day with this one! ~lol~

Dec-02-08  malthrope: PS: http://www.field-day.com

Believe it or not this link actually works! Kind of... <grin> ~lol~ ;)

Dec-02-08  achieve: <Jess is gonna have a <<<field day>>> with this one! ~lol~>

Please allow me another (last one)quirck:

To quote Jess:

"A dog can save your life in the field, any day!"

Who knew?

(we love the silly catch phrases ;))

Dec-02-08  achieve: <Believe it or not this link actually works! Kind of... <grin> ~lol~ ;)>

Yes it does!

hehe

It's croakin' outta control in here!!

Dec-02-08  malthrope: At the rate we're going Jess will be up to 500 jam packed pages in her Chessforum before she even knows it! ~lol~

PS: Don't you be thinking either that my valiant efforts to have made 3,000 posts in anyway influences the true ideals and concepts of all my previous posts made here! <grin> ;)

PS: On a hunch... http://jam-packed.com

Time to start a jam & jelly website! xD

Dec-02-08  achieve: WHOAAAH!!

<xD> indeed!

(Jam & Jelly... hehe

Don't worry buddy, you're right up there with the best of them, in my book!)

[ English is a succesion of catch phrases - goodness me...]

Dec-02-08  malthrope: <achieve: WHOAAAH!!

<xD> indeed!

(Jam & Jelly... hehe>

I'll refrain from any further URL hunches, atm. Although, a simple test inserting the word 'cream' in the hyperlink is very tempting! ;)

I'd probably get millions of links! ~lol~

OK Mal - calm down remember this is a family run website...

PS: I wonder if 'half & half' would work just as well? Nah!

Dec-02-08  Woody Wood Pusher: I just posted my nominations, that bundle of chess-bucks you passed me the other day put you in good shape <JFQ>!

Dec-02-08  Travis Bickle: <jessicafischerqueen> Here in my opinion is Elvis's greatness song and his 1968 comeback show was his best ever performance. Your friend,

Does he really mean us?! I guess there has to be a mistake in somewhere ...

I wish my email box contained some intellectual material, even <lowly-intellectual> would be a nice change from random porn adverts and invites to Gay-Black-Dating sites.

Dec-02-08  Open Defence: <would be a nice change from random porn adverts and invites to Gay-Black-Dating sites> you gotta stop advertising your forum as the Mate in 2! :)

And perhaps change the title of your beginner's chess book from "Basic Mating Positions".
