No worries <JFQ> I see what I was missing.

35.Qh3,Qxc2 36.Qxh5,<Qd2>

and then 37.g6,hxg6 38.Nxg6,Bh6 defends.

I think that is enough chess for today...

I have the pride back in my step again! I wish to discuss now only happy one liners and korean stuff. I just got the Rosetta stone demo today (well actually 2 weeks ago but opened it today, which is all that counts).

Adios from the pide piper! (I'm so happy I could play bag pipes and bake pies for everyone in my neighborhood!)

Wow! Make that the triple pied bagpiper! I just went to change my avatar and they had the one I wanted!

  jessicafischerqueen: HI <cub>!!

Please don't apologize for the tenor of any of your posts or letters. You are complex and delightful in any form.

I'm still digesting your EMU and I will respond-- I'm just super busy at the moment and I want to respond with the same energy and care that you used with me.

Jess (nice Taeguki you have there!!)

Did you know that the <ROK> uses BOTH the Taeguki and the "old" Korean flag, even though it is North Korea who uses the "old flag"?

This is for political purposes- by keeping the Old Flag as one of two "official ROK" flags, the ROK can symbolically show that they, and not the NOrth, can lay claim to the <one true Korea>...

Well done!! Gives me an opportunity to compliment you agian for the high quality of your analysis "without electronic help"--

More than a little impressive!!

Ok here are some corrections regarding our discussion in <Boomie's> forum--

It wasn't <Aronian> who played the <Meran Blumenfeld> with <14...Ba6> in the <Olympiad>, it was <Van Wely>.

Recall of course, that <Anand> famously scored two wins against <Drawnik> with the <14...Bb7> idea in this super sharp opening system.

Also, it's not Black who sacs a pawn in this <Van Wely> "main line," it's White. And the compensation is the passed <a-pawn> for White.

Here is the line: <Meran Blumenfeld> as played by <Van Wely>

1.d4 d5
2 c4 c6
3.Nc3 Nf6
4.e3 e6
5.Nf3 Nbd7
6.Bd3 dxc4
7.Bxc4 b5
8.Bd3 a6
9.e4 c5
10.e5 cxd4
11.Nxb5 axb5
12.exf6 gxf6
13.O-O Qb6
14.Qe2 Ba6
15.a4 Bg7
16.a5 Qd6
17.Qe4 Rd8
18.Qg4 Kf8
19.Bf4 Ne5

click for larger view

And here is the Game I mistakenly identified as <Aronian>.

It's <Van Wely> from the <Olympiad> in a very exciting win in the <Meran Blumenfeld> with <14...Ba6>, a VERY VERY SHARP variation that is not played often.

Maybe because it is so super sharp?

Well unlike a man's signature, an elephant can't use a pen so the only way to know if anything is <elephant approved> is to look for a clear sign that could have been left by nothing else....like a tusk scratch on a tree.....or 3 tonnes of $h1t!

Heh-- I thought I was losing my mind AGAIN...

I just happened to notice that my forum has <480 pages> and almost fell over!!

(because just yesterday I only had 472)...

Until I remembered I had taken <everyone off ignore> today because I wanted to see your posts and the responses on the <Carl's Son> page!!

And then I got side tracked by our game and forgot to look there!!!

Mrs. Fruit Bat

(3 tonnes of..)

heh

Dec-14-08  Woody Wood Pusher: <Until I remembered I had taken <everyone off ignore> today because I wanted to see your posts and the responses on the <Carl's Son> page!!>

haha

I feel flattered <JFQ> but it seems Magnus is playing some games so my post was quickly swept away.

I actually like Magnus a lot, I'm a big fan.

But it just so happens that his page is where most of the unimaginative, egotistical, two dimensional pedants on this site hang out! And I just love baiting them occasionally!

haha

  jessicafischerqueen: <wood>

I couldn't agree more.... with every word of your last post, including admiring <magnus>... although I enjoyed mightily your "He's just a big baby" post...

HAHAHAAHAHAAHA

I have to say I'm a bit envious of your current "posting freedom"- And I know you <call 'em like you see'em>--

But a <wood to the wise>:

I squandered all my posting freedom over the last three years by breaking way too many guidelines way too often--

And being suspended three times-- and having dozens of posts deleted by the administrators--

The administrators don't like deleting posts, because it's just extra work to them eh?

And I had some posts deleted recently as well.

So for example you know your last post about how to tell an <elphant's signature>?

I couldn't make that post without it being deleted.

As the admins told me once in an email-

"If you had said that once or twice, maybe it would have been ok-- but you posted it several hundred times over the last week as a signature phrase"..

heh

Of course you aren't insane like me- I mean obsesssively posting the same things over and over and over until you just want to throttle a <squab>...

Well Hats off to you <Wood>--

Long may you <Wood>.

Actually I doubt you will run into any of the problems I did.

So never mind then!!

Dec-14-08  Woody Wood Pusher: <"If you had said that once or twice, maybe it would have been ok-- but you posted it several hundred times over the last week as a signature phrase".>

haha

Well after watching this SQUAB thing develop I can believe it.

I sure am curious about what yo said though?

I know how you feel though because I was 'suspended' after only my fourth or fifth post!?

I won't re-type what I wrote in the post that did it, but I will give you a clue that it was a phrase in English that means 'I can't believe that!?'

....but its American meaning is A LOT different.

and I had no idea until I inquired through email what the problem had been.

heh

So much for the Global-Village!

  jessicafischerqueen: It's not <what> I said, its the 20,000 <whats> I said.

I'll email you the worst two- meaning the worst two single posts I ever made.

Then you email me the one you just referred to.

Anyways, the administrators couldn't possibly be more lenient and patient at this website, but they have their limit-- and when pushed too far, they act VERY QUICKLY on some occasions...

You probably know the "unofficial" guidelines--

Posting on Games pages or Player threads is much more likely to be monitored--

Like Puzzle of the Day, Game of the day--

You know for sure all those posts will always be read..

And Live games, especially important matches and tourneys--

although I can tell you for a fact they don't monitor all of the live games.

I'll explain in an EMU..

They don't read even a tiny fraction of the posts in personal forums, but they have <auto filters> that alert them to certain words and phrases, and these "tag filters" are more sophisticated than you might think. IE-- popular kid's Internet acronyms for filthy phrases are all included in the "filter net" program.

And also be careful of people <blowing the whistle>, as the administrators DO act on these complaints, depending on circumstances, and their mood...

BTW did you get my EMU?

check your box and reply if you did.

I hope we don't have to use the <Elephant> as a EMU "go between," but if we do-- at least we both know which phrase to use:

<Let's get Niels to do it>

heh

Dec-14-08  Woody Wood Pusher: <JFQ>

Just after we were discussing the type of people on the Carlsen page, I go there and read this:

<rogge: your email address indicates you're 1965. Want me to post it? Better stay in your nest and play yourself. That's what's filling your time nowadays, isn't it?

You asked for it, <pecker> hahaha>

So when they aren't ramming the same pointless arguments down each others throats, they are reading your forum very closely.

How sad.

Unfortunately for them that email address contains about as much information about me as my avatar.

Not really criminal masterminds are they?

heh

Dec-14-08
Premium Chessgames Member
jessicafischerqueen: Well you know what that is--

They don't currently read through my forum pages.

That's not how the infamous <Player page Crew rolls>.

What they typically <do> is to "monitor" current <People of interest> who are posting controversial opinions on the <Player pages>.

They do that by monitoring the posting history of persons of interest.

I stopped being a person of interest to them since I stopped posting on the <GAmes pages> over a month ago.

You have been very active on the Player pages, particularly since the <WC>...

So yes a bunch of them will be monitoring your posts, looking to rile you up.

That's what the player pages are for- to rile each other up. So the only reason they would read in my forum these days is to read your many recent posts here.

It's a little sad--

But on the other hand it's quite fun if you have a thick hide.

I agree with you on the Net security-- I too never, ever give my <carbon information> over the net.

In fact I just deleted a bunch of emails from my main account and changed the password.

Real Internet criminals don't hang out here. Chessplayers are all broke.

On the bright side, check your box!

Your EMU came through and I gave you some "inside scoop".

Dec-14-08  Woody Wood Pusher: <But on the other hand it's quite fun if you have a thick hide>

Water off a ducks back.

Maybe they will even email me some proper SPAM, there have to be at least a couple of GAY BLACK DATING sites left that haven't somehow secured my address to advertise their services.

So if you are reading this boys, whoever you are, sign me up to the best stuff you can find.

No really, make it as horrific as you want.

I didn't even know what a SPAM filter or an Anti-virus/ Ad-blocker was for a whole month the first time I went online.

So I'm no longer shocked by anything!

hahaha

Dec-14-08  Woody Wood Pusher: <On the bright side, check your box!

I don't think the SQUAB made it...

Can you send him again?

Silly SQUAB, got distracted somewhere over the pacific and then went off radar.

Dec-14-08  Woody Wood Pusher: <And here is the Game I mistakenly identified as <Aronian>.

Yes that is a really sharp line which I wouldn't want to go anywhere near as black or white!

It is interesting that Anand played an 8...Bb7 line in the Meran in his Fide WCC match with Karpov

Karpov vs Anand, 1998

In this game Karpov plays a novelty on move 17 which he had prepared specifically for Anand.

This is the first time I have looked at the game since the Anand-Kramnik match, and it is amazing the similarities between this game and his Kramnik encounters in 2008. The seeds of the idea for his Kramnik games seem to be there (such as forgetting about castling! although here he probably just doesn't have time), but he was far less strong a player back then IMO.

Not to mention the d5 advance went out of fashion quite a few years ago anyway I think (but don't quote me on it hehe)

e5 really steps into the Tigers mouth, and Kramnik ended up getting his head bitten off!

haha

I think you are right that Ba6 is at least just as sharp (maybe even sharper!) but Bb7 has certainly stolen all the limelight of late.

heh
