jessicafischerqueen: Hi <ChessMasta2000> and thanks for dropping by!!

Ok:

1. I am from BC, Canada, but right now I'm an English teacher in South Korea. Where are you from?

2. I do not have accurate information on precisely when <Bobby> died.

3. Yes, you must be a premium member to have a forum. I think it costs 25 dollars U.S.

4. I think you can delete your posts up to one hour? Maybe? I'm not sure. But don't worry about that in my forum-- if you pass the deadline and want to delete posts, just ask me to do it. A forum owner can delete any posts in her forum, no matter how old.

5. I am fascinated with <Bobby> because my Dad was, and he taught me to love chess. And I love his games and he was very handsome and dashing also. And crazy as a loon. When I play chess, I pretend I am <Bobby> and I have a big picture of him on the wall facing me when I play chess on <Yahoo>.

5. I agree about <Morphy>!

6. <Keres> is a genius. Can you imagine how <Bobby> must have felt when he checkmated <Keres> in his first game at <Bled> Interzonal when <Bobby> was just 15 years old???

7. Chessbucks is imaginary money that you can use to bet on chess games. At the end of a season, the person with the most chessbucks wins prizes from <CG.com>. I believe you can win chessboards, Premium memberships, and hedgehogs, but I'm not sure.

8. Thanks for the Link to the gravesite-- I will add it to my Profile.

9. I don't know if his daughter got anything. I wonder how she must feel about it all. Do you think she hates chess? Do you think she inherited chess genes, but is not interested in the game? Sometimes I pretend I am <Bobby's> daughter.

I'm not though.

Ok bye for now,

JFQ

Dec-19-08  malthrope: Jess - I also left a trail of 'bread crumbs' for you everywhere (at my place and via <brankat>'s house) when I found some interesting info re: 'Bobby's death and burial' when tweaking my Profile last night. I'll post it here so that <YOU> can't possibly miss it! ;)

This is going to take some time to find the best "visual arrangemt."

I will be studying the current "visual arrangement" you have in your <award-winning> Profile for further ideas.

This could take all day....

Seriously Jess I'm ~ROFPIMPLMAO~ right now... It may take a few hours just to recover! ~lol~

Dec-19-08  achieve: <Jess> <Mal>

Maybe this sounds too simple but...

Here's an idea:

I just copied a part from Mal's profile, and pasted it directly into mine, and edited it a bit - (have a look - I'll delete it later) - so eg a pound line, and several other distinct features - like the big black dots, can just be copied and pasted, at your convenience.

You don't have to start counting them out yourself, and trial and error; just copy&paste. You can even use a word document for editing convenience, I think.

IT WORKS!!

  jessicafischerqueen: <El Pastolino>

Could it be that easy???

heh

Ok I will try your method first...

I got sidetracked looking at <Top O' the Morning v Woodchuck> game at the <Pearl Jam Concert>...

<g4!!!!!!!!!> By Toppy....

It took me 30 minutes to figure out why Toppy's <g-pawn> is immune after it goes to <g4>....

heh-

theme: <THE THREAT OF REMOVING YOUR OWN DEFENDER>

In this case, Black's f-pawn cannot leave the f-file because it must block the file-- so that the White rook cannot move to <f8>...

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAH

Topalov vs Ivanchuk, 2008

After <37.g4!!!!!>

click for larger view

Now, the <g pawn> is immune--

If

<37...fxg4????>

Then <38.Qg5+> becomes deadly, because the <f8> square is no longer blocked by Black's <f-pawn>--

Ie

<37...fxg4?
38.Qg5+ Kh8 (forced)>

And--

click for larger view

Now--

<39.Bg7+!!>

heh

The Black rook cannot capture the Bishop because of

<39...Rf8+> and Mate in One to follow.

So after

<39.Bg7+! Kg8> is forced and then the White Bishop can Nab the Black <d4> pawn with Discovered check and the Black King is running for his life....

AHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAH

<Drawpalov is dead-- KING TOPALOV IS BACK>!!

Dec-19-08  malthrope: Hehehe... Yeah Jess 'El Topalov' ain't giving away prawns for nothing! His 37. g4 was a killer! :^)

heh....

actually I'm feeling better about it now...

It reads much clearer to me now-- and I've added all the new material except I'm waiting for <Eyal> to make that <super hyperlink thingy function> so I can add his Post to the <Articles> section....

You'll notice the acknowledgements as well....

<Heh <<<we>>> don't HAVE to worry about bloody colors in the forums, but we CAN if we want!!>

Oh yes and your opinion please:

Which do you think would make the better title for <Eyal's Post/Article>?

<Young Fischer- An Appraisal of His Chess Strength> by Eyal Segal

OR

<Why is this Kid scowling at me?> by Paul Keres

Dec-20-08  malthrope: <jessicafischerqueen: <Mal>

heh....

actually I'm feeling better about it now...>

That's the most important thing... <YOU> feel better just forget about what the rest of us think... We'll adapt! ~lol~

<Oh yes and your opinion please:

Which do you think would make the better title for <Eyal's Post/Article>?>

#2 and maybe I'd add a few words like this:

<Why is this Kid in the sweater scowling at me?> by Paul Keres

Bobby wore that same sweater all throughout the '59 Candidates Tourney. <grin> :^)

jessicafischerqueen: Heh--- he must have smelled a bit "ripe" by the end....

I heard a story that <Keres> played this game through to the end to give <Bobby> the checkmate, instead of resigning, in honor of the kid's genius...

Keres vs Fischer, 1959

That <Keres> was a classy guy.

Is the story true?

Dec-20-08  malthrope: <That <Keres> was a classy guy.

Is the story true?>

Yes Keres was all that and much more. :) As for Keres allowing checkmate by design? -- that I don't know.

Only that every time they played one another that Caissa's angels must have been close bye. Those two poured their souls out over the chessboard when they played against one another! Win-lose or draw... :^)

Dec-20-08  achieve: <Jess> - here is a hyperlink of Eyal's post you might wanna use... Eyal chessforum

Just right-click and select 'copy shortcut' (I think it is shortcut in English)

Guess I am a bit out of touch considering I wasn't even aware that a super event was played in Pjong Pang...

<slept for all but two hours> Yep, silly I know but I woke up all wet and shivery... Better stay "under the wool" this weekend.

Profile reads better now, good job.

The elephant will retreat again, softly....
