Domdaniel: <Jess> In case I forget to say this before the end of two thousand and crikey:

You're wonderful.

Dec-27-08  Boomie: <Jessie>

Here's a nice Marx and English game fought in the mud at Agincourt. Rad Boy plays wonderfully here. There are many subtle manures that have me scratching my head. Ooh that feels good. Scritch scritch...

  jessicafischerqueen: Hey!

Where is everybody? Since you are not all in the same time zone, how is it possible that all of you are asleep at the same time?

You better not be "at work..."

I can't advise that.

  Domdaniel: <Where is everybody?>

Good question. Mostly distributed around the gravity well, clustered at the thick end of the atmosphere. There might be a handful in orbit or under water.

Me - since you ask - I am technically both asleep and at work. Some call it dreaming...

Sweet dreams.

  jessicafischerqueen: Bloody good show <Dom>.

You'll be pleased to know that Korean teachers can actually sleep with their eyes open.

Strange but true...

Don't forget the party at <Blue Elephant House>...

<Eyal> is bringing the booze and <Boomie> is bringing the chicks.

Domdaniel: RSVP. A tad on the late side for me, chaps, I'm afraid. But I hope you all have a jolly good time.

My *sincere* ("without wax") best wishes for those who value that kind of thing, and a veneer ("with wax") of civility for the rest.

Domdaniel: PS. I've just been listening to a routine radio show: audio cut'n'paste filler about people who died in 2008.

In media res, I hear that one of the flatlined fallen was a character I met just once, when he turned up on my doorstep - directed there by the friend of a friend of a friend - looking for a place to 'crash'. Which he got.

He was known as "Cyanide Sid" -- which says it all.

Here's to <Potassium Cyanide>. I love the smell of almonds in the morning ...

Who knew?

Also, <User: Oooga Booga> is the oldest member in the top ten loudmouths- since 2002.

<Deffi> is second oldest, at 2003.

Not one to question the great <Domster> and I'm not really up on my chemistry, but I thought it was <arsenic> (sans old lace) that smelt of burnt almonds (roasting on an open fire)...

Dec-28-08  hoodrobin: <jess> Hence you are and keep very fit. That's great for chess, especially played over the (empty) board.

But you can dream about sumptuous meals in Paris, Toronto, Nashville...

jessicafischerqueen: HI EVERYONE!! The <Blue Elephant's> Dr. Max Euwe Center is opened again!!

It's been closed for a while....

Here is the story of the adventures of <The Elephant in Exile>...

<CG.com <<<SPECIAL PRESENTATION>>> in honor of "The Return of Elephant House">

1. <Origins of the Blue Elephant>. Blue Elephant afficianados have long argued over the precise genesis of this accurate animal. Excitingly, however fresh archaeological work has now definitively proven that the Blue Elephant was born in the parking lot of a suburban Church while "Def Metal" music was playing in the background (for some reason):

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip47G...

2. <Part Dr. Max Deux-veh: The Elephant in Exile> In Halcyon days, the Blue Elphant once leaped and swam in the educative environs of the famed "Dr. Max Deux-veh Center," until he was unceremoniously driven out by hordes of acolytes bent on the destruction of this FEARSOME MONSTER, which threatened to topple over and crush all of the chess students who attend this wonderful school:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/myhors...

3. <The Elephant Trap> Here is the horrifying story of how the Blue Elephant was lured into a trap and kicked out of his own kingdom:

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=sEwEZ...

4. <The Freeing of the Slaves- or, "Let my Elephants go!"> Forced deep into the hoary recesses of the fabled Indian sub-continent, our hero was caputured, and horribly taunted, by the "Niece of HMS 123: a Has Very Cute Nieces Odyssey"... In this exciting episode, we learn that the pulchitrudinous pachyderm's true name is <Kun-Fway>, and that he freed the "Elephant Slaves of India"...

http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=b0a6B...

5. <The Gauntlet> Having freed the Slave Elephants of India, our Magnificent Mammoth was forced to pass through the "Dreaded Gauntlet of Sociopathic Neighborhood Kids With Sticks" in Elmira, Mississippi... Here, our accurate analysis hero was forced to undergo the most stringent tribulation, defenceless against the onslaught due to the "Elephant's Code"- (never actually stomp on kids no matter how much they deserve it)

WARNING- EXTREMELY GRAPHIC FOOTAGE

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Qq1pw...

6. <The Temptation> In this chilling chapter, the Munificent Mastodon is captured by "Circe, the Funk Witch", and is forced, wholly against his will, to dance maniacally to the great hit "Play that Funky Music Blue Elephant", till he dies... Or that was the witch's plan. Only through the greatest strength was our hero able to resist this horrifying--although admittedly "groovy"-- fate.

WARNING- EXPLICIT FUNK CONTENT

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=zLha4...

7. <The Return of the King> Having completed his epic elephantine journey, our accurate analysis hero finally returns in triumph to his grand house. Here, he is welcomed by noted Dutch Chess impresario <Jan Nagel>, and is escorted back the the front gates of his Kingdom by the legendary <Bessell Kok>....

WARNING- TEXT IS IN DUTCH LANGUAGE, WHICH HAS A DIFFERENT WORD FOR EVERYTHING

Dec-28-08  hms123: <Bishop> Nope--definitely cyanide. (<Hydrogen cyanide (HCN) is a colorless gas with a faint bitter almond-like odor. --from Wikipedia>)

Apparently some people are genetically challenged and can't smell it. That could lead to disaster...but only once.

You are quite correct, your holiness. It's been some time since I ingested anything fatal, and ... where was I?

Dec-28-08

Domdaniel: <Bishop, hms123 ...> I was right after all? Cripes, it's been a *really* long time since I ingested anything fatal. Probably not since the last time I was 'carnated as a cat, and THEY had me put down for putting it about, as Toms do (my name in those days was Tom Pynchon Pussycat: I wrote a book called The Meowing of Litter 49).

Whatever doesn't kill you ... does weird stuff to your memory.

Dec-28-08  Ziggurat: <moving over the discussion from <Ragh's forum>> ... Well I am not in China, although I constantly confuse the issue by talking about it (I used to live in China for a while about 10 years ago). Here in Singapore I have about four weeks of leave, a far cry from your <37 months> ... On the other hand (and I don't know if I should admit this) I enjoy my job enough not to really mind.

  jessicafischerqueen: Thanks <hms123 Go!>

But I'm not accepting any more awards, much like <Boomie's> hero <George C. Scott Paper Company>, due to the horrifying debacles at this year's Caissar Awards.

Also, please be careful about referring to <golden globes>.

*there are children about*

Or, there used to be. I wonder where they all went?

Do you think <Dom> scared them all off?
