  jessicafischerqueen: Good work <Travis>!!

No, I didn't play on <playchess>.

I tried to when I got my <Fritz>, but there was something incompatible about <playchess> and my computer set up that I never figured out.

The server would never let me enter after I downloaded it and it would make this giant "Plunk" noise on my computer and then my computer would freeze.

So I had to uninstall everything.

jessicafischerqueen: Thanks for sharing your <Scotch> with me <Wood> even though I've quit drinking as you know.

Heh- yes, both the <Scotch> and the <Yahoo player> can be tricky.

I noticed someone who had played over <5000> games on Yahoo the other day in fact.

I will go through your game and notes on my board here soon.

I just finished my last day of work and I've been napping all afternoon and I'm very exhausted.

I don't have to go back to work until <March 2>, though, so I will have lots of time for chess.

Thing is- none of it comes easy to me- ever-- it takes me a long time to look at even one thing that is chess related.

Example-- I stared at today's Puzzle for almost five minutes before I even realized that if White moves his Knight, It's a Back row mate in two.

Then another five minutes to notice that White can force off the Queens on the <f7> square.

then another 10 minutes to notice that White can smash through on the <g-file> with the rook next and the King has only <one> escape square.

Then another 20 minutes and I failed to see the brilliant <knight> move that deflects the Black rook and forces mate.

So I looked at the solution then.

heh

Mrs. Takes a long time to see a position and even to count the pieces accurately.

Ok back later...

Feb-12-09  blacksburg: i love you :)
Feb-12-09  Mrs. Alekhine: <blacksburg>

heh-- well it might only be temporary.

I keep looking at JFQ's new avatar and thinking "hey- that's <blacksburg>"...

These muppets really look quite similar.

They have tons of new avatars now compared to last year last time I changed.

I noticed a

<young Bob Dylan>

<young Bobby Fischer>

<baby picture of Magnus Carslen>

<Head shot of Ivanchuk that makes him look like a giant hamburger>.

This is my new avatar- it's the only other female one with red hair.

Although I think the last one I had was actually a picture of a man.

Oh well.

Feb-12-09  Woody Wood Pusher: <JFQ>

OMG!

I almost had a heart attack when I realized that *thing* was actually you!!

hahaha

I don't look at the names very often you see, just the pics...But OK I have adjusted now.

Any Big Bird pics going?

<Thanks for sharing your <Scotch> with me <Wood> even though I've quit drinking as you know.>

hey my pleasure, I will have yours as well!

<Heh- yes, both the <Scotch> and the <Yahoo player> can be tricky.>

Yes, it was a slightly unusual set up that game, he played 1.e4,e5 2.Nf3,Nc6 3.d4,exd4 4.Bc4,Nf6 5.0-0 so quickly I figured it was his pet line so I got off the main line quickly with 5...d5

Another thing I have noticed about these yahoo players is that they seem to play the same systems over and over and get extremely good at them, so best thing is to mix it up early I find.

My memory isn't so good on these lines, I played it rarely enough anyway but it is even harder to recall all the ins and outs in a rapid game.

I checked the stats for 5...d5 on here after and it is something like 80 % White wins so on reflection I am not surprised my position was a bit uncomfortable.

I would play it again though.

<just finished my last day of work and I've been napping all afternoon and I'm very exhausted.>

Ah nothing like an afternoon nap to replenish the soul. I don't know how you do it, playing full length games with your mentally very demanding work. When I started working full time, my chess exploits tailed off pretty quickly. But you are a fighter Fischer style!!

I'm pleased you have some chess time coming up <JFQ>, you deserve a break and I can't wait to hear about your latest battles. I love the enthusiasm you have for the game, it really does shine through in all of your posts and I am sure if you keep putting the time in you will become a very solid A grade player before the end of the year. And then, who knows...

<it takes me a long time to look at even one thing that is chess related.>

Don't worry <JFQ>, quality over quantity everytime in chess! Better to play through one game a week and learn something than through one a day and forget it in 5 mins.

<I will go through your game and notes on my board here soon.>

Thanks <JFQ>. It was a really close game, I don't think there are any hideous tactical oversights in it (strategically it was a failure) but it's just for entertainment anyway.

Time to enjoy your holiday!

Yea!!

Feb-12-09  Mrs. Alekhine: Thanks <Wood>!!

I keep looking at myself and thinking it is <blacksburg>.

No <big birds> on the avatar list- a lot of new ones though you should have a look.

I saw a couple that I think I will choose from to make a new <JFQ> avatar after I wear <Grover's suit> for a while.

It's hot in here!!

Feb-12-09  Woody Wood Pusher: <It's hot in here!!>

haha

Lucky you, I'm standing in the rain it seems.

Feb-12-09  hoodrobin: <jess> You look different... It must be the light!
Feb-12-09  blacksburg: wait i'm confused, <JFQ> = <Mrs. Alekhine>?
Feb-12-09  Pyke: <Blacksburg> Yes! But wait until you meet Insane old Batte ...
Feb-12-09  Travis Bickle: Queen Jess you look different somehow?
Hmmm... hahaha!
Feb-12-09  Pyke: <Jess> Nice "facelift". :-)

And <Mrs. A.>, too! Actually I like redheads and think there should be more around at Chessgames ... Hehe!

Feb-12-09  Mrs. Alekhine: heh-

Feb-12-09  8284: <... they are all me.>

Too young for having AD, possibly retrograde amnesia. I recommend further consultations.
