Mar-15-09  Woody Wood Pusher: I think I might just keep posting until your forum breaks the record.

It might help move me into the top 40 kibitzers as well.

I think I only need another two thousand something posts.

jessicafischerqueen: <I did watch Last Samurai the other day.

Is it anything like that there? >

No.

More like as TOTALLY OPPOSITE TO THAT AS YOU POSSIBLY COULD IMAGINE.

Think of androgynous pop stars dressed as if the 80s never ended, and grown men wearing <Donald Duck> T-shirts and many, many other <10th rate imitations of American culture>.

If you ever need ammunition for an argument that <American pop culture> is absolute junk- just come here.

All of the worst aspects of Amercian pop culture without any of the <fun, originality, or energy>.

<Black saving himself line>

I haven't looked at that yet- even though I spent over two hours <post mortem>.

First, I checked the blunder- then I checked the opening and all of the moves up to the blunder- which is time consuming, because I had to find out <why> inaccuracies were in fact inaccurate- and there's no short cut there- you have to find the atual lines or you'll never remember anything or learn anything much.

<AWOL boy> He was disgustingly drunk and I was trying to think of some way to get him out of my apartment as fast as possible without actually shoving his head into my microwave oven.

So you knew he'd be drunk eh? Another score for <Woody Nostradamus>!!

Korea = Good times!

To be honest there are as many 500 year old temples and Confucian Academies that you'd care to look at here, and many gentle Buddhist monks smiling all the time.

Also, plenty of traditional concerts featuring orginial Korean folk music and instruments.

Interestingly, their "folk music" is actually as complicated, and difficult to play, as Western "classical music."

However, no Korean under the age of 60 has the slightest interest in any of this.

Tourists do- but there are no tourists in Korea.

This place is a case study of yet another civilization totally and irreovocably losing its soul- fast- to the youngster's new affluence and love affair with THE ABSOLUTE WORST ASPECTS OF AMERICAN POP CULTURE.

I really can't overstress that.

There are many, many Australian blogs with titles such as

"Why Korean pop music is the worst music in history" etc....

All run by disgruntled ex-teachers, of course.

<Amber Drawnik>

Yes I haven't checked any of that yet- I look forward to it though.

jessicafischerqueen: <Wood> yes post away obviously-

I don't have <deep Shredder> btw- I have <Shredder Classic 3>, which is decidedly an inferior product-

However, it's strong enough by far to suit any needs I have. Plus it's exceedingly simple to operate- and most importantly- I actually know how to use the controls etc.

So I'm never switching.

I doubt my friend will call today- but like I said, one is forced to adopt the <always friendly "it's all good" attitude> at all times.

There really is no alternative.

Well it's teaching me to be more relaxed- a bit-

Normally I tend to be overemotional and indulge in frequent temper tantrums.

You can't do that here-- it's considered a form of humiiating yourself.

jessicafischerqueen: Yes, thanks to your brilliant idea of the Team Playing Both Sides Game, in fact both your personal post count and your forum page count will continue to progress rapidly--

IE- if the game takes another six months to finish, you will be in the <top ten> for sure.

We are very glad you are spending so much time online at a chess site!

Be "we" I mean me. I can't speak for others, although obviously I enjoy doing so.

Mar-15-09  Woody Wood Pusher: <Think of androgynous pop stars dressed as if the 80s never ended, and grown men wearing <Donald Duck> T-shirts and many, many other <10th rate imitations of American culture>>

Jeez. That sounds awful. How far do you have to run to escape American Pop Culture nowadays?

Is it even possible?

<He was disgustingly drunk >

haha

You drank him under the table then?

Good on you <JFQ>.

<However, no Korean under the age of 60 has the slightest interest in any of this.>

Yes this seems to be a disturbing pattern of development wherever one looks.

Personally I blame the i-Pod and mobile phones.

And apparently the internet is changing the way kids' brains work as well. And not for the better.

Oh well, at least there is chess.

jessicafischerqueen: For anyone who might be interested-

Here is my <youtube page>:

http://www.youtube.com/user/jessica...

It is full of three pages of <subscriptions> to channels, mainly <chess, science, documentary film, and horse racing channels>.

Many good vids in here if you like those subjects.

Mar-15-09  Woody Wood Pusher: <We are very glad you are spending so much time online at a chess site!>

Thanks <JFQ>, glad to be here. I easily slotted the time into my normal routine by simply eliminating sleep and bathing.

  jessicafischerqueen: <eliminating sleep and bathing.>

Yes, "cutting out the frills" may be an important part of <The Way of the Wood>.

Mar-15-09  Woody Wood Pusher: < jessicafischerqueen: <eliminating sleep and bathing.>>

Oh sorry, you must think I am crazy, of course I didn't do anything so extreme.

I meant <eliminating in my sleep and bathing>.

Saves a good 10 minutes a day.

Mar-15-09  Woody Wood Pusher: <because I had to find out <why> inaccuracies were in fact inaccurate- and there's no short cut there- you have to find the atual lines or you'll never remember anything or learn anything much.>

I'm not sure about what you mean by 'inaccuracies' here <JFQ>.

An engine will find 'inaccuracies' with many human moves, even ones that are perfectly fine and in fact <very good> from a human perspective.

I don't know how Shredder evaluates things, but I would say unless it can suggest an alternative move which results in a more or less forced sequence, with gains you can understand from a human point of view, then there is no point in calling the move an 'inaccuracy'.

Engines just play different chess to humans.

There is no point in trying to play like an engine, so I would steer such analysis very much more towards blunder checking than the fine combing of 'inaccuracies' as the engine sees them.

I'm sure <OD> could be more precise, but I would suggest anything less than about 0.5 of a pawn difference is almost not worth bothering with.

Mar-15-09  Woody Wood Pusher: Hey your forum grew by a whole page in an hour!

That record is going down!

Heh I had a doctor friend in <Montreal>, and he confessed to me once that when he was a Bachelor he used to wash his dishes in the bathtub while taking a bath in order to "save time".

HAHAHAHAHAHAAH

Mar-15-09  Travis Bickle: Thanks Jess. I think hackmate is fast eddy. I got pis%$# off when they start insulting chancho, and when that moron PP brings me into his commnets when I didnt say a word to him. I wouldnt be surprised if PP is hackmate also. For 1 thing I seen PP chatting on Trices forum, (hes probably talking to himself, hahaha!!! Right now Im preparing my forum for today ; P I think you will enjoy it LOL.

jessicafischerqueen: I wouldn't be surprised by anything at all at <CG.com>, mainly because who could possibly keep track of mutliple aliases?

For example, everyone (including <User: everyone>) knows I'm <jessicafischerqueen, Mrs. Alekhine, insane olde batte, and everyone else>.

But few know I am also <hms123>, <eyal>, <open defence> (but NOT <red october>- that's actually <Woody Wood Pusher>), and <Travis Bickle>.

Oops what a giveaway...

Also, several of us have exchanged forum passwords as well, so, for example, we are able- if we wanted- to post under each other's avatars.

<"We"> look forward to your next forum project!!

Is that the name of a band?

heh- I notice you've been <doubling consonants that are not supposed to be doubled>--

<mm>, <ll>, and <rr>

Purr...

Is there dried pineapple juice under your keyboard, or is this a secret code?

When I got my laptop cleaned by <professional Korean guys>- they took about five hours to do it.

So me and my friend were waiting at a cafe, and they phoned him-

And asked him in Korean, "Did she spill coffee all over it? We think we're dealing with' dried coffee but we need an accurate damage report, STAT, or the Lab dog could go in to a coma.."

That's a true story.

Well mainy true.

Mar-15-09  hms123: <jess> Happy 20 trillionth post. Perhaps you can use them to pay off the national debt for us. We can't seem to do it ourselves.
