jessicafischerqueen: Your over there regimen sounds salubrious! Interestingly, in Canada we save time by spelling "music and poker" as "moker." Initially we spelled it "poomus" but that sounded a little too declasse, even for us...

Mar-15-09  madlydeeply: For the sake of recordbreaking I transcribe my post at Woodys

< madlydeeply: Hey there Woody. I was just remembering a story about the first meeting between Karpov and Korchnoi...when Karpov was still just a whippersnapper...Furman took him over to see Korchnoi one night, and they played some blitz games...and Karpov one every game, so Korchnoi wouldn't let him leave until he lost a game...consequently they were at Korchnoi's pad until the wee hours of the morning with Karpov winning every single game.

Wouldn't you love to see those games?

Don't worry. I'm sure they are in the SweetBabyJesus Chess Library in Heaven!

I was trying to remember where i read that story but it wasn't in OMGP V.

You're a Brit, right?

when i had my three month England adventure when I was 25 renting a room in Crystal Palace from a "dodgy" glazier...i discovered that he and all his friends had vicious stab scars which they proudly lifted their shirts to show. One fella had just gotten out of the Hospital from a serious long slash across his stomach! I was pretty concerned...but then he and his mates looked at me puzzled...and said it wasn't a big deal EVERYBODY in England gets stabbed! Well a few years later when I was in Tucson, I made a Manx friend, and told him this story, and sure enough up comes his shirt and he shows me his scars!

So consequently I now ask every Englander to give up their stab scars.

After offending a few ladies I realized that only the English men get stabbed.

So give it up, woody! Any personal anecdotal support?

Damn I had the perfect opportunity to ask Nigel Short during the Topa/ActionKam match!

I personally have been to the ER a few times for slashes...unfortunately they were self inflicted during my 3 years of OTJ (on the job) handyman training! You gotta watch those utility knives!!

also...DON'T CUT TOWARD YOURSELF!! Especially in the 11th hour of working a double!

Later.>

Mar-15-09  Open Defence: congrats on 20,000 posts the Bushmen are still perplexed :)
Mar-15-09  Ragh: <JFK> I have a feeling that East has remarkably slowed down your way of life, perhaps. This phenomenon is apparent in your posting frequency, in that, your first 10K posts from Canada were at a much faster rate (less than 1yr) than the next 10K launched from Korea (over 1.5yr). Here's a Shakespearean sonnet in the queen's honor.

<
So they spammed, and spammed in vain
Distance, and no space was seen
Battle was to be won by the Queen
Number one in spam was slain.

Chessgames was thus appalled
Reason, in itself confounded
That post numbers were so well compounded.>

Domdaniel: <Jess> So, like, was the 2nd ten thou a doddle compared to the first one? Because your <advancement> has been a remarkable <combination> of <pins> and <forks> and <stealth>...

"She pins just like a woman
And she sins just like a woman
Yes, and she *wins* just like a woman
But then she notices that I'm an ageist sexist misogynist and she turns down the volume before I go into some hideous old-guy riff about little girls ... Yeah."

Mar-16-09  Woody Wood Pusher: My first 5 thousand didn't take too much effort, although the majority are spam...

Domdaniel: <Woodster> Mebbe, mebbe. But *your* spam is like some other guy's strictly once-in-a-lifetime flash of genius inspiration ... just as <Jessicaster>'s merest asides should win a Pulitzer apiece, with the first of many lifetime achievement Oscars thrown in.

*My* posts, on the other hand, just demonstrate that I know several words, many of them different.

After a careful count, I have determined that some kibitzers have an active vocabulary of zero.

And some others appear to be *less than zero* ...

Mar-16-09  Woody Wood Pusher: Thanks <Dom>.

I still wish I was capable of the verbal gymnastics you and <JFQ> pull off so effortlessly though.

I tried a simple somersault once and slipped a disc.

Now I just sit on the sidelines heckling at Drawnik.

Mar-16-09  mack: I've still not even made the five thou. Six bloody years it'll be in September.
Mar-16-09  blacksburg: i think <WWP> just had a <moment of clarity>. :)
Mar-16-09  malthrope: WoW!!!

Me too a belated "Holy @##@ Batman - look what Jess has done."

20 Gazillion posts

Well done Jess! :D
