| Mar-23-09 | | Woody Wood Pusher: That's true <JFQ>, but then he plays enough fighting chess to make up for it. How is the new teacher getting on BTW?
Have you arranged another game yet, or is he still wandering around hopelessly lost and alone? haha |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: well he spent the weekend in Daegu with his friends, all of whom got very very drunk. He doesn't drink, as it's against his religion (literally). He still looks like a deer in the headlights.
He will play, but it won't be for a week or two probably. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Thorski>
Well actually you predicted the time I made the post extremely accurately. It can't have been more than 30 minutes off.
Maybe it was even exact. You see, I was too lazy to remember the exact time I wrote the post. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Wood>
No, no bluff at all I was outdrawn both hands. Post mortem on both hands revealed I had over a 70% starting advantage after each of the two flops. But the real point is that I should have left five or six hours before I played those hands. I played 14 hours straight in that session.
No discipline which is why I cant gamble. I just stay until my money's gone. Any wins I've had have happened only because I literally passed out at the table before I lost all my money, and they had to carry me away. Also, if I"m not risking at least 300 dollars in a game it holds no "juice" for me, and thus no interest. Roughly, if I'm not gambling at least a day's pay, and preferably more, I don't get much pleasure from it. Finally, I don't see the point of playing Hold 'em with a limit. I don't play <Fischerrandom> and I don't play <limit holdem>. And I don't like people who do.
Unless they are friends already. |

| Mar-23-09 | | Woody Wood Pusher: Hey for a second or two there I thought you were talking about Anand <JFQ>! LOL
Sleep deprivation does funny things to the mind...
<well he spent the weekend in Daegu with his friends, all of whom got very very drunk.> I can just see him there now, and hence the reason for the short yesterday. hehe |

| Mar-23-09 | | Woody Wood Pusher: <No, no bluff at all I was outdrawn both hands.> Ah, that's poker though.
<I played 14 hours straight in that session. > That is great <JFQ>! That is exactly the sort of marathon sessions I used to put in. And win or lose, I swear there is no better sleep to be had than the sheer exhaustion after such a poker game! <Roughly, if I'm not gambling at least a day's pay, and preferably more, I don't get much pleasure from it.> Yeah No Limit only works if everybody involved thinks the money is at least semi serious. There is no point in trying to pull off bluffs in a game that isn't worth anything, they just get called down, and so the game simply doesn't work at the low level. <No discipline which is why I cant gamble. I just stay until my money's gone.> I don't know <JFQ>, I think you possess the rare gifts of high intelligence, motivation, stamina and the will to win! I think you could be just as good at poker as you are at chess! Actually I think you could succeed at anything you turned your hand to come to think of it. I always thought the one true advantage poker has over chess is that you are allowed to needle your opponent after you have won a hand. It is practically encouraged in some games!
But if you win a couple of pawns and laugh in your opponents face in chess, you would probably get disqualified! haha

| Mar-23-09 | | zanshin: <Also, did you know <Zanshin> is a computer programmer? I've always marveled at people who had this ability.> <JFQ> I caught this note you left in <howard>'s forum. I wish it were a well-deserved compliment. But anyway, I thank you on behalf of all the other code geeks in the world ;-) |

| Mar-23-09 | | hms123: <jess> Give it a bit and let me know later. Sometimes the conspiracy theorists are right. |

 | | Domdaniel: Did I ever mention that I was an Aanteaterist (as well as an Atheist and an Afairyist). I don't believe in gods, fairies, or anteaters. Aardvarks are a different story. Who'd wanna be an Aaardvarkist and get tongued by the great cosmic aardvark, supporter of aleph-one turtles? I'm also wanted by Interflora in three countries. |

| Mar-23-09 | | hms123: <jess> I just threw a small <roc> in your direction. I hope the penguin made it. |

Mar-23-09
 | | jessicafischerqueen: <HMS Iceberg>
Yes, the <roc> hit the penguin in the head, but luckily it was only stunned. Very good penguin- I have more questions and ideas about various anteaters. I will send some kind of primitive "message" later. |
|
| Mar-23-09 | | hoodrobin: <jess: I hope INTERPOL is not involved...> I can't play football...
<Domdaniel: I'm also wanted by Interflora in three countries.> ...nor soccer either.
I'm a true believer (in chess).

| Mar-23-09 | | Woody Wood Pusher: Hey <JFQ> did you hear about this? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertai... It's so sad, depression seems to strike the most gifted people more powerfully sometimes. Hughes and Plath are two of my favourite poets. Although I like Hughes better because while he dwells on some very dark thoughts, I always get the sense there is a way out or something better in his work. Whereas many of Plath's poems are disturbing all the way through IMO. |

|
| Mar-26-09 | | Woody Wood Pusher: I hope you didn't miss all the Amber action yesterday like I did <JFQ>. 6 decisive games! When does that ever happen!?
Only when I'm not watching it looks like...
I hope Anand can pull into joint first with Aronian at least. I can't take another Aronian interview...
haha |

| Mar-26-09 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Jess I just seen a very moving film called Elegy starring Ben Kingsley and Penelope Cruz. Maybe Im getting old but it stayed with me after the movie ended, and thats a rarity with todays films. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Travis> I was just thinking about you like 10 seconds ago. JINX
Ok I will check out <Elegy> for free on the internet- And also, regarding your <Beatles> show in your forum-- I found a series of free weblinks that has organized the entire history of <The Beatles into a story>. Ok hang on I will get them--
It's all on <Youtube> and the links are organized by this "link finding site" here-- http://www.surfthechannel.com/cat/6...
This link takes you to the "B" section of the <surfthechannel.com> documentary page. If you scroll down a bit on this page, you will see <The Beatles Anthology 1-9>- As you click on each link, it will prompt you to click on the "arrow" and then a page will come up with 6-9 <youtube> links. It's easy to follow them.
The whole <history of the Beatles> is here for the viewing. |
