| Mar-31-09 | | crawfb5: In my database, only 11...Nde5 (most popular) and 11...Nxd4 are played with any frequency. What <I> would play is 12. Nxc6 bxc6 13. g5 click for larger viewIf 13...Bg3 then 14 f4 to be followed by Rh3. Doesn't this trap the Bishop, or am I still not awake yet? |

| Mar-31-09 | | Woody Wood Pusher: <hms><with <16.Bf2> to follow.> Does that work for White <hms>? What if 15...Re8 16.Bf2 Bxf2
 click for larger viewNow
17.Qxf2 and Black seems cramped but OK
and
17.Qxh7+?! Kf8 and the King slips away IMO
but
16.e5! d5 17.Bd3 seems winning though. |
|
| Mar-31-09 | | Woody Wood Pusher: Hey <JFQ>, you are the new <Chooser>! The <20.Nd5> lines seem fine for White ATM. Another option which is less explored is <20.cxb6> which I am going to be handing over to the <Cirque> for interrogation. If you see any other candidate moves you think should be looked at in the next few days just let me know. Thanks <JFQ>! |
|
| Mar-31-09 | | hms123: <woody> You are right, of course--I meant to say that <Bf2> follows in most variations. After <Re8> then <16.e5> followed by <17.Bd3> in most variations.

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Ok very good answers, as expected.
The <Big Crawdaddy> idea is clearly best, it seems- Although the Bishop cannot be trapped in such a straightforward manner as his FEN shows. Black has <...Ne5> which allows it to hop next to the <g6> square because if <RxB> immdiately after <...Ne5> then The Black steed can hop to the forking square on <f3>. However, as <Howard> shows, Black's long term problems are immense in this line. Also of interest is that White should trade Knights first in all continuations. <Woody> shows that <Black> still has defensive resources and his position is not "lost"- and not even winning for White without careful continutation- IE the <16.e5> move is necessary. A line of interest that was not covered is this:
<12.Nxc6 bxc6 13.Qh2 g5 14.Qxd6>, in which White is certainly better and threatens to mop up some Black Queenside pawns in some variations from here. So <3> Burritos to <Big Crawdaddy> for finding the best continuation, and <1> Burrito each to <Howard and Wood> for their fine work in exploring other lines. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Very exciting news!!
Yes it's a new <GM Josh Friedel> video of his famous victory over <GM Yogi Becerra>!!! Half an hour of the best GM analysis available on the tube: http://www.chessvideos.tv/forum/vie... |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Oh no! <Josh> only got a draw in this one, and he would have qualified for the <World Cup> if he had won!! Stupid <Yogi Becerra>... |

| Apr-01-09 | | Woody Wood Pusher: <Ok I will begin looking at all of the work you guys have produced in the move tree for the game.> I know you have a lot of other chess study stuff on ATM <JFQ>, so if you like I will review the Tree for the best lines and post a <bite-sized> summary in your forum for you as soon as the <20.cxb6> lines become more clear. We should have a fair picture of it in a few days I hope. thanks! |

| Apr-01-09 | | Woody Wood Pusher: <and <1> Burrito each to <Howard and Wood> for their fine work in exploring other lines.> Man that Burito hit the spot!
yummy! |

| Apr-01-09 | | Woody Wood Pusher: OK I just posted a line but realized it was a variation of <hms> line <<13....g5 14.Rxd6 Qc7 15.e5 f6 16.f4>> The idea is what if 14.f4!? here instead, provoking weakening of the Black KS? e.g.
14.f4 h6 15.Rxd6 Qc7 16.fxg5 hxg5

Interesting position.
Lots of questions lol. |

| Apr-01-09 | | Woody Wood Pusher: <So <3> Burritos to <Big Crawdaddy> for finding the best continuation,> What was the best continuation?
Was it
<12. Nxc6 bxc6 13. g5> instead of 13.Qh2 cos I like your line <JFQ> <13.Qh2 g5 14.Qxd6> still. What about
13.g5 Ne5 14.f4 Ng6
15.Qxd6
 click for larger view15...Qxd6 16.Rxd6 Bb7 17.f5 Bg3 18.Rd2 exf5 19.exf5 Nh4 20.Bd3 click for larger viewCan White capitalize on the poorly placed Black pieces? |

| Apr-01-09 | | crawfb5: Got your reply. Thanks. I still have two weeks. I have a fallback cobbled together that I may run by you. Lady Jessica is our Queen
"J'adoube" is our shibboleth
She likes the struggle clean
But she hits like crystal meth
I once tried writing unrhymed poetry, but I kept drawing a <blank>... The ...Bxh4? line certainly lands Black in a big, stinking, steaming pile where White has various pleasant choices. I'm tempted to call it <sewercide>... |
|
| Apr-01-09 | | crawfb5: <Woody> From your last diagram, Black could try 20...c5 21. Rh3 Be1 22. Rd1 Bxc3 23. bxc3 Nf3 24. Bf4 Rfe8 click for larger viewMaybe 18. Rd1 instead of 18. Rd2 so Black cannot pick up the tempo on the Rook with the DSB? Then an eventual Rh3 might pick up material. OTOH, it <is> past time for my afternoon nap... |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Wood, Big Crawdaddy> Very interesting further analysis from the Black <sewercide> position- Illustrating that although <...Bxh4>? Is a terrible move, you still have to prove it by winning a "won game." Ok just think if <Spassky> played that against you. Could you beat him from that position?
Point is that the hard work starts from the point the other guy makes what <should be> a decisive error. |

| Apr-02-09 | | PinnedPiece: <JFQ> has anyone ever posted this interview link? Fridrik Olafsson on 1972 match:

Hey hey!
Thanks so much. I hadn't seen that interview before, and it's short like you say but it's very interesting. I have added it to my Profile in the ARTICLES ABOUT BOBBY FISCHER section. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <mack> that's one heck of a puzzle. The Chessboard Puzzle Graphic is very cool.
It looks like the kind of puzzle that <Dom> or <Ragh> or <Switching Owls for Thugs> would be good at. It made me dizzy!!
OK everyone check the link <mack> gave to a <CHESS MURDER MYSTERY PUZZLE> he has written. http://streathambrixtonchess.blogsp...

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Ok here is why I LOVE the "man/woman in the street" movie reviews by <IMDB> users. Here is a brilliant- and I mean brilliant- review of <Tori Spelling> in the new <HP Lovecraft "Chthlulu"> movie: <Tori Spelling, now besides the fact that her head is massive, far too massive for her body and she seems to be wearing hot pants in the winter all throughout this movie...> HAHAHAHAHAAH
Heh..
Now THAT'S good film reviewing.. |
