May-07-09  crawfb5: <Having replayed a lot of the Olympiad games where 300+ rating difference was involved, quite remarkable was the number of times the lower rated "weaker" guy was outplaying the stronger one out of the opening, well into the middle game, but around move 35 started throwing away the win, during crunch-time...>

It doesn't just happen OTB. I have a game against a 2400 CC player that has been going for about 2 months. It's been a wild tactical scramble since about move 13 or so (I'm about to make my 40th move). I've spent more time on it than any other and I really thought I had the proverbial irresistible attack going, but it seems to have floundered somewhere along the way. Now I'm searching for drawing resources, if any are to be found.

I've been making notes as I go along, but I'm going to have to try my hand at post-mortem analysis with one of the silicon monsters because of all the tactical possibilities. Of course we have to finish the game first.

May-07-09  wanabe2000: I put this together today and although the games are available in other collections I think this is more succict: Game Collection: Fischer vs Reshevsky Match

I have also updated this collection for your review: Game Collection: Bobby Fischer: Selected Games 1955-1977

You now have Fischer vs The Russians book. Here is my collection: Game Collection: Fischer vs The Russians

Finally, here is a collection I sent to you some time ago: Game Collection: Second Piatigorsky Cup, Santa Monica, CA 1966

By the way I lived in Pusan for about 16 months in 1966-1968.

jessicafischerqueen: <Big Crawdaddy> Your gruelling experience is the exact reason I'm trying to give up Correspondence Chess.

Unfortunately, I've just agreed to play a 24 game Correspondence match with my old pen pal <klangenfarben> over at <chess.com>.

Sigh....

jessicafischerqueen: <wanabe2000> I can't wait to look over your collections.

You know I was just looking for the <2d Piatagorsky Cup> in my Profile- I "knew" I had it, but clearly I forgot to link it there after you first sent it to me.

Thank you!!

Also, I will have to alert <suenteus po> of this games collection as he is currently working to make collections of all of <Bobby's> major tournaments.

And your <Fischer v the Russians> collection will be exceedingly handy for me--

Thank you!!

Oh my goodness I've just noticed your list of other <Fischer Tournament Collections>

Obviously I will be adding them to my Profile in the "new category"--

Is <suenteus po> aware of your list?

May-08-09  Travis Bickle: <jessicafischerqueen> Jess Saturday Night Fever movie is loosely based on my life back in da days. LOL P.S. Good luck on your rehab hahaha I am an addict of 5 minute blitz. Once you're hooked there's no turning bacl ; P 20 minute games now seem like playing Bobby Fischer 5 hours LMAO!!! Plus in 5er's you get to meat of the game really quick...who needs theory LOL!! Plus if ya lose you can get vindication very quickly by hitting the challenge button pronto!
May-08-09  achieve: Good grief, that's a mighty Profile you've compiled now, <Jess>!

I was almost blown off my chair here...

I know it is a superbe collective effort.

B. Fischer might even be a tad embarrassed by such devotion and attention. Or maybe he wouldn't, I don't know.

I know I would.

But back to my main point: HELLUVA GOOD JOB!!

Thanks! I love <Bobby Fischer chess materials>

I like to collect and trade them!!

Yes, <collective effort> is the key here.

It seems to me that the <Historical Tournament Collections> being amassed by <suenteus po>, <phony benoni>, and <Benzol> will prove to be one of the most concrete, valuable and lasting accomplishments of this entire website.

Also, with regard to <Bobbyobilia>, <eyal, klangenfarben, chancho, and now wanabe2000> have been HUGELY HELPFUL in making the collection grow in size and quality.

Also, thanks to <Tryfon Gavriel> for doing all of those fine <Fischer Youtube Analyses>. I wish he'd get back to them.

Luckily, he's making 7000 chess videos a day now, so I'm sure he will get around to Bobby again sooner or later.

Well, I currently find single-session games impractical. I mostly like CC, now that I don't have to deal with postcards, transcription issues, and the like. As far as the particular game in question goes, my opponent wouldn't really be a big white whale unless he got away. Call me, it's email...

Say hello to <klangthefarbenslowly> from one old dog to another.

May-08-09  Ragh: <JFK> So you've finally decided to make a switch to FICS. I'm sure it'll be a good decision that you will never regret.
May-08-09  achieve: <It seems to me that the <Historical Tournament Collections> being amassed by <suenteus po>, <phony benoni>, and <Benzol> will prove to be one of the most concrete, valuable and lasting accomplishments of this entire website.> I think you may very well be proven right with that most eloquently put "prediction."

Well deserved compliment in any case for the three gentlemen involved.

Here's a collection of games annotated by Fischer.

May-08-09  achieve: Oh, <Jess>, and I will likely play in a League Team for the local Chessclub here for the coming season (September). This evening I played two rapids with the Chairman (Elo 1900)- and really impressed him the second game. First game I got mated after one silly miscalculation in another promising position.

I NEED TO PRACTISE!!

Pragmatically that is.

May-08-09  Woody Wood Pusher: Hey <JFQ>, sorry I haven't been around as much as I would like to answer you posts properly, I have had to take care of a few things in the real world unfortunately and chess has had to take a back seat.

I hope to be back online properly soon.

I'm pleased to see you are keeping the pace with your training though.

Best

Woody

That is the most wonderful news-- I was just thinking yesterday that if I lived in <Nederlands> I would run- not walk- to the nearest chess club.

I predict you become a ferocious member of your new team. Possibly you might face <Manju> in a game?

Thanks! I have added the collection to my Profile- but I'm afraid I gave myself all the credit for finding that fine <Fischer collection>.
