Oct-06-09  WBP: <And welcome to the <ZEUS: The One True God> forum!>

Crap!!! There goes the little shrine I've erected to Hugh Downs. I thought him to be the one true god.

And <Jess>, thanks for praising me on my new, improved posts (i.e., no typos!) I've worked hard on this. Other things, too.

Mangus clinched first place.

jessicafischerqueen: <Bill> Hugh is Hugh Downs?

Is he stout? Resolute? Did he go to a good school?

Oct-07-09  pulsar: Hi, <jess>. You probably know about this already, but just in case you don't, you need to look out for this BBC-HBO docu. Our 'kababayan' GM Torre will be among the interviewees: http://sports.inquirer.net/breaking...

Cheers.

Oct-07-09  achieve: <Jess> From <dak>'s profile--

Mir ist bewusst was Freiheit bedeutet
Mir ist bewusst was Freiheit bedeutet,
mir ist bewusst was Freiheit bedeutet.

As used in the film 'Megane', by Naoki Ogigami.

But does anyone know the author of this German Poem?

  jessicafischerqueen: What a great scene-

Does the whole film have subtitles?

I will download it.

The poem is beautiful- I never heard of it, so I don't know the author.

I will guess <Charles Shultz> or <Goethe>.

Did you watch the movie?

What does "Megane" mean?

I need to know...

jessicafischerqueen: Also, will we be meeting in the <Euwe Center> for drinks again after Magnus wins his game tomorrow?

I thought the crowd last night was genteel, if a little boisterous.

That <Howard> can get out of hand if he's had a few too many glasses of <Pepperidge Farm Bad Elderberry>.

Oct-07-09  achieve: I'm downloading it at the moment, via Pirate Bay, 1.4 Gb, with subtitles...

Story is about a woman who lives in the fast lane, and goes to an off shore Island, etc... IMDB has it, released 2007, I believe...

BRB

Oct-07-09  dakgootje: <Miss Jess> I wrote about as much as I know of the poem at my forum: dakgootje chessforum

I've got the movie (subtitled) on my computer, but very hesitant to post the full movie (in parts) on youtube. Surely, it happens a lot nowadays and a lot of people would like it but... I really found the movie like a piece of art (in lieu of most hollywood-movies) and found it very unethical to express by gratitude by violating all copyrights.

It is fully online at Veoh though (where I got it as well)

Megane means 'Glasses' by the way :P

  jessicafischerqueen: <Kind Nederlanders>

Well I really can't thank you enough.

I will be "visiting" Pirate Bay very shortly....

I like the Veoh player as well- but I prefer to steal my entertainment.

<dak> while I love all of the free movies on <youtube>, I think you are wise to be careful.

Nobody ever gets prosecuted for copyright violation for uploading to youtube.

The worst that can happen is that youtube suspends your account.

Which is pretty bad if you ask me.

Couldn't live without youtube :P

Well, could, but it's just too damn handy to have it.

Since it's not some blockbuster-movie I highly doubt the vids would get deleted at all. Therefore it's mainly a question of ethics instead of potential loss and gain.

jessicafischerqueen: <dak> in fact the posting of art films on youtube can actually increase revenue for the filmmakers- because punters see it, then rent the DVD or go to see it on the big screen.

Many people want a big screen and high quality- which you can't really get on youtube.

Oct-07-09  dakgootje: true true which is the cause I'm not totally sure I won't upload it sooner or later after all... deserves some attention -- even though it's probably a movie you either love or hate (or: love or fall asleep watching)
Oct-07-09  achieve: Well, the download is pretty slow (10%/hour), but even so I want to see the full movie, if only to check if the <dak-clip> is the pinnacle, the cinematographic climax, the culmination point of both storylines and ...

Oct-07-09  Travis Bickle: Jess I read your message who were you upset with?

jessicafischerqueen: <Doctor> If I may know, what torrent client do you use?

If it's top secret, perhaps EMU.

I'm using VUZE-

And when I went to download the <Mendoza> movie you guys were recommending, I first deleted a download to make room.

But for some reason, the deletion didn't clear the space on my hard drive.

So I've just spent the last three hours searching for the "missing video files" I tried to delete--

Bloody computers. It's always "something" it seems although I shouldn't complain since it's all free of course.

Have you ever experienced this with your torrenting?

Are you able to delete old files properly?

In the past, it's always worked properly for me.

???

Oct-07-09  dakgootje: uhm... I just downloaded directly from Veoh so without a torrent... Might be you have to download like Veoh web player... or something similar for it though -- but hey, it's steady; not need for... erm... leechers or those other things. I'm not that up-to-date with torrent-downloading :P

<In addition, your "novel" is an overrated, overwrought snooze fest enjoyed mainly by middle aged women who go on cycling tours with hard boiled eggs taped to the handlebars.>

you have such a way with words are you an english teacher

Oct-07-09  achieve: <Jess> Yes I am able to delete files properly, and I use the very very old "Bit Torrent" client....

Almost 50% of MEGANE downloaded, but no problems elsewhere whatsoever.

Any questions - and i am superiorily serious - you should direct to <rogge>--

He is the erm GOD? in these situations, and knows just about all we need to know.

But I've got 50% now and I do not mind the long waiting.

JUST THIS ONCE!

heh

I'm an internet suckling

Oct-07-09  A Karpov Fan: <Jess> I put a position up in my forum.

I think it is interesting, not difficult, but worth noting.

At least at my level.

I'm aiming for kind of the opposite feel to a Sunday puzzle...

So it has to be solvable within a mere three generations of the same family and actually have a <point>

I would love to know what you think :-)

  jessicafischerqueen: <Anatoli> good show!

However, I advise you to post the position in your forum as well as in your Profile.

People need to see the position on the page when they go in to the kibbutz box to give their analysis.
