jessicafischerqueen: Thanks <Niels> but I think this will be the extent of it for me.

I made my opinion clear enough on the page- and I very much appreciate your support on this. Believe me.

But I can't really rock any boats too much if you catch my drift.

Oct-13-09  achieve: I get it. Gotta run in a minute; you handled this excellently, Jess.

Back to enjoying chess and music and what have ya.

Good show!

Bye for now

heh

Oct-13-09  achieve: <Jess> Check out <Dom>'s forum--

It's about our fearless Leader, and <mack> painting a picture for now that does leave us/me wondering.

Actually, already before the week-end, I - for some reason - wanted to give Dom and mack a "power-speech" before they went off to the tournament.

That's what I sorta did on previous similar occasions.

Glad <mack> broke the "silence"...

jessicafischerqueen: Ok I will concede that the Sonas ratings theory article is relevant to this page since <Magnus> was the main focus. However- there are literally hundreds of pages of discussion of "ratings theory" on this thread that are TOTALLY OFF-TOPIC with regard to <Magnus>.

When I come to the Magnus page, the LAST THING IN THE WORLD I WANT TO SEE is a long, convoluted discussion about ratings theory.

If you want to do that, you can open a specialty forum for it.

If this behavior does not cease immediately, I shall be lodging formal complaints with the administrators accompanied by emails with highly specific links from this page.

I am not the only person at this website who wants this OFF TOPIC endless theoretical discussion OFF THE PAGE.

I will be canvassing other members who agree with me over the next week.

Then I will take action.

And this to <frogbert> the "whistle blower"=

"What's sauce for the goose, is sauce for the gander."

jessicafischerqueen: <returnoftheking> If you agree, please voice your opinion on the matter on the <Carlsen> thread.

We'd be very happy for your support.

Oct-13-09  hms123: <jess> You have my <tangible> support at the Carlsen forum.

jessicafischerqueen: Thanks <deffi> but it's all over anyhoo cuz the GODS have spoken and spoken reasonably, as they always do.

<frogbert> never bothers me, primarily because I've had him on ignore since the <Wesley So> explosion. I haven't read a word he's said since.

Ironically, I didn't even know that he was still droning on and on about the Ratings Theory- I just guessed he was.

heh

And I was right, apparently- although to be honest I still don't know for sure because I didn't read anything he posted today. It's all invisible to me.

Although going from memory, I've never been more bored in my life than I was from glancing at that endless ratings drivel he used to post. It's one of the main reasons I never visit the Carlsen page- too boring. I just got angry because the hilarious <ontocaustic> posts got zapped. I finally got him to answer me!! I thought that was unfair, to say the least.

Plus nobody can mess with our pages cuz we can zap them with our phasers.

Also, nobody messes with the ROCK HYRAX Captain.

Oct-14-09  achieve: Good grief, <Jess> - heh - I missed the LIVE action...

Sent you an emu

jessicafischerqueen: Hey you guys if you are really interested in getting the non-Carlsen "ratings theory" essays off of the Carlsen page, I have received some considerable support from people- many are willing to use the blow the whistle, and some have done so in the past on this topic. But it's got to be done "in unison" as the admins explain- a few scattershot whistle blows will not indicate that enough people believe that <frogbert> wants to hijack the page for a personal platform and sopabox for his own personal ratings theories.

All we have to do is jump together on the next one and maybe we can convince <frogbert> to take the appropriate action.

<Frogbert> does care about Magnus and the Carlsen page, and he himself even suggested using his player page- the <Hans Rundle> page- as a place for the pure theory debate.

In addition, <Alex Magnus> has also offered his forum as a venue for the pure theory debate.

In addition, the Administrators explain on their page that they would be very happy to see the pure theory discussion moved to the <Notepad Elo> player page.

What's important here is to maintain absoulte good faith.

We shouldn't blow the whistle unless a post is totally and obviously not relevant to a current Magnus Carlsen ratings debate issue.

For example, the recent discussion of the <Sonas> article would indicate that any of the ratings posts after that are clearly on topic.

I'm thinking back to discussions that lasted for days and days, pages and pages in the past in which Magnus' name is not even typed out in any of them- and there are literally hundreds of these stretches on his player page.

If something like that resumes, I advocate we all remain alert and take action in unison.

Again, the phrase the admins used was "we would love it" if the pure theory were moved to the <Launching pad Elo> page.

Finally, note that the support on the Carlsen page was clearly and heavily in favor of moving the pure theory discussion off it.

Including the support of both <Alex Magnus> and, it should again be emphasized- <frogbert> himself.

Ironically enough.

jessicafischerqueen: Ack no the exact phrase was "We wholly advocate" moving the ratings theory discussion to the <Arpad Elo> page.

Sorry!

Oct-14-09  Travis Bickle: <jessicafischerqueen> Jess how do I get to update manager? I can get to Windows Update but can't seem to find a place to manually load updates. Computer illiterate in The States. ; (
Oct-14-09  Travis Bickle: Thanks for the instructons Jess. When I went to window updates, check for updates there was only one item to upload, as I uploaded several earlier trying to find the NVIDIA update. The update was Windows Service pack 2 for x64 based Systems. I did some checking and I seen as I scrolled through the programs list that I have NVIDIA Corporation on the menu, so Im thinking I must already have that update. I got this comp in May of this year because the one I bought in January's hard drive malfunctioned and it had to be replaced. So I got a slightly newer model. I'm glad you liked the songs I sent you. ; P

  jessicafischerqueen: <Travissimo: Beatles Historian>

I loved them both- thank you.

I'm also going to collect all of the Queen songs together in one playlist so I can give myself a concert.

They are in your forum, my forum, and <Deffi's> forum so I have to track them all down.

Oct-14-09  Travis Bickle: Turn it up to 11 and Good Rock N Rollin!
P.S. I don't know what type of speakers you got with your system but I purchased two 8 inch Creative speakers with a subwoofer on top of both to listen all proper! Hahah like the Malcolm McDowell character said in A Clockwork Orange when he wanted to rock with Ludwig Van. ; P

jessicafischerqueen: My speakers are OK but I want top of the line equipment also- unfortunately, although Korea is one of the leading countries for top-end electornics, it's also a "provincial country."

I've looked in to it and I have to either go to Seoul or try to order them over the internet to get truly top end speakers.

Oct-15-09  Thorski: I recommend Bowers & Wilkins. Stellar speakers. Their 800Ds are around $20,000, but their entire line-up is excellent. The satellites and woofer for my living room zone are B&W, and I'm extremely happy with them.
Oct-15-09  hms123: <jess> brief emu on its way.
