Oct-19-09  Open Defence: I love the OMGP with Korchnoi.. I think Kasparov was really a fan of Korchnoi's play but probably could not admit in Soviet times..
Oct-19-09  Eyal: <Karpov did not play well in that game with Spassky, but his future results against him give a much clearer indication of their relative strengths.

16 to 3 with 25 draws in CG :-)>

I'm not sure this result is an exact reflection of their relative strength, but yeah - overall, Karpov certainly "owned" Spassky, as they say. Spassky said something about it, btw, in his press conference with Susn Polgar during the last olympiad - http://www.chessvibes.com/reports/o... (at about 38:50 in the video):

<You know, the worse score I have against Karpov… I think I won 4 games and lost something like 17, or maybe only won 3 – yes, I think 3… so he was eating me as a crocodile eating slow animal [expressive hand movements]… probably I used to have some psycho problems – I won the first game against him, and after that, something happened… during the game I lost the sense of equilibrium...>

  jessicafischerqueen: <Travis>!!!

Thanks so much for the horrorfest- I'm going to link them all in a playlist and play it tonight just before bed, to maximize the "good dreams" effect! I already started tonight in my evening classes- I scared the crap out of my students with Exorcist and American Werewolf in London and The Ring clips.

I'm happy to see someone else in these parts excited about HALLOWEEN the greatest night of the year- so far it's just me you and <Deffi>.

I will also look forward to <Mr. Sardonicus>- and I'm guessing that someone will post <Homicidal> sooner or later.

Oct-22-09  Travis Bickle: Jess what are you going to dress up for on Halloween? I bet you have an exquisite costume picked out! As for me I have a dilemma. I want to go as a song and dance man but also retain my machismo. Here's my two main ideas so far. I'm leaning towards the 2nd clip as he is pretty rugged looking. ; P

Oct-22-09  BishopofBlunder: <Travis Bickle: Jess here's a short clip on 'Da Coach'. ; P

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kl02...;

A month ago I played in a golf tournament at a course in Plano, Texas (just north of Dallas) that used to be a private club. In the men's bathroom, above one of the urinals, is a hole in the wall that is framed with a sign that reads, "This hole was made by Mike Ditka after a bad round of golf and a night of losing at cards."

I am skeptical of the authenticity, but it still makes a good story.

I love Mr. Sardonicus!!! I have the movie on DVD. I pull it out every Halloween. William Castle was a genius at marketing his movies.

<My Queen>, Add me to the list of those who love Halloween.

Oct-22-09  madlydeeply: i used to love halloween before I became paranoid and agoraphobic. And too lazy to make a costume. I blame chessgames.com.
