Nov-29-09  Eyal: <The Chinese Grandmasters Wang Yue and Li Chao are leaving the Cup because of their late appearance for the second games of tie-breaks of Round 3. The reason of being late is ridiculous: they were smoking and did not know that the game had already started.

- Perhaps this is a good reason to quit smoking? Less chances to get into trouble, and more chances to be healthy.

- I don't think so... After such a shock you only think to take a long smoke!> (http://www.ugra-chess.ru/eng/interv...)

jessicafischerqueen: S____t <Eyal> you on point like always.

I was very tempted to post a "pro-smoking" notice on the Tourney page, citing <Tal> and <Donner> as "manly men" who liked to chain smoke over the board.

Nicotine does in fact improve the mental alertness and concentration, but only for a short period of time, after which the alertness actually flags- until you light up the next one!

I'm also upset that <Motorhead> never made a "pro drunk driving" video.

It is just *amazing* how 13 ... ♘d7-c5! is the key to <TRAPPING> the offside White b7-queen by <DENYING> both the a6- and a4-squares as <FLIGHT SQUARES>, whether the White queen is on b7 or c6.

Confirmation of sorts of what I (plus you plus one or two others) have been yelling about recently, well, for a few years now actually.

Two heavyweights telling it like it is. KC even plans to "do a vid on the <Main Line Syndrome>" - freakin excellent I'd say.

Whooohoo!

But of course the trend will not be "reversible." Alas. But nice to see, to put it mildly.

More on this in my reply emu, no doubt.
