only condition.. there needs to be a naked girl riding a mule....> Deffi & Jess I can't get that image out of my mind. There's something erotic about a naked lady sitting on her ass. LMAO!!!!!

jessicafischerqueen: I made another Genesis video from <The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway>

Dec-20-09  Boomie: <crawfb5: <J> ILikeFruits solved a clue>

I gotta tell you that all you guys getting those clues are driving me spare.

It makes one feel so...inadequate.

Dec-20-09  crawfb5: <I gotta tell you that all you guys getting those clues are driving me spare.>

I got one, which matches my total from last year. I'm <seeing> more clues and am able to try more solutions than last year, which suggests they're harder. The easy ones go fast, unless they go up at some odd time when nobody's online.

Speaking of easy ones, I'm surprised Howard didn't win that <Stroop effect> question. Predictably, I was at work.

Dec-20-09  Travis Bickle: Jess I just watched your video and I thought it was really good!! How do make and uplaod an online video? Did you assemble all those images? In any case I think you have real talent in making them!
Dec-20-09  hms123: <crawfb5> It was solved before I saw it. Stroop got his PhD in my department--but before my time. We even have a display of it in the lobby of my building.

Dec-20-09  achieve: <MD> Hey luvvy! heh

haha!

Ok - just dropping by to fessup; got my connection cut off, the cruelty... But actually it wasn't that bad. Got my connection back on Friday after 3 days, but let's not "whale" about that.

Good to see you guys here, and hoping for a White Christmas (pretty much guaranteed overhere), and may all your dreams be shared.

<Jess> "Best informed" eh? heh may I suggest a "sub-cat" :

err, hang on

Toughy this, but I have been busy trying to get "better informed", long story.

I'll drop by again BEFORE Corus that's a promise; also to deliver on the promises I made before my "hiatus."

<Wilson> Ooh - that's a bit of a shocker... Lovely woman/actress.

Dec-20-09  dakgootje: no internet for a couple of days! How ever did you survive, when it was much too cold to go outside! :P

<hoping for a White Christmas (pretty much guaranteed overhere)> Heh, I've heard it might rain even later this evening in The West so don't count your chickens yet!

Dec-20-09  achieve: Yes, it was frrrrrrreezingly chilly indeed, my dearrrrrest dak. You may not believe this but because of the cold and freezed up roads, I decided to leave my bike in the barn (pardon my atrocious English here)- and forced myself to take loooong walks, which actually started to feel better with every mile, every yard even. And gave me the chance to reflect and process all the research i had done, on many subjects that were also partly covered during our "confrences" at your place.

But when it starts raining tonight...

then indeed CAUTION is the watchword -- the roads may become ultra slippery.

Dec-20-09  Travis Bickle: Merry Christmas Jess I LOVE YOU TOO!!
Dec-20-09  madlydeeply: hey jess guess what!! GM Kosteniuk who is the most charming most beautiful most gentlest chessplayer ever in my opinion just beat me in 21 moves! Who saw that coming? But I scored a signed book AND i got to ask her what she thought of "THINK LIKE A GRANDMASTER" by kotov which truamatized me when i was younger...she said she had a coach that tried to teach her to think that way...with move trees in her head..and it didn't work out for her either. HOORAY!

Here are the moves she was white so now you can laugh at me haha

1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 g6 3 d4 cd 4 Nd4 Nc6 5 Nc6 bc 6 Qd4 f6 (eek) 7 Nc3 Qb6 8 Qd1 Ba6 9 Ba6 Qa6 10 Be3 Bh6 11 Qd2 Be3 12 Qe3 Qb6 13 Qc1 (does this mean I have the initiative?) Rb8 (not a threat doh!) 14 0-0 e6 15 Rd1 d5 16 Qe4 Ke7 17 ed cd 18 Re5 (doh!) Qb2 (She actually had to think for a WHOLE MINUTE) 19 Qc7+ Kf8 20 R5d1 Qb7 (Qb6 holds on a little longer?) 21 Qe6+ resign. Rb8 falls

Dec-21-09  notyetagm: E Najer vs I Nepomniachtchi, 2006

31 ... ?

<4. Najer-Nepomniachtchi, Moscow, 2006

There followed 31...Qb5? 32.Rd4 Rxd4 33.Bxd4 Nd5 34.Qb3 . Evgeny Najer won this game, and subsequently the whole tournament.

The outcome of the contest could have been different if Ian Nepomniachtchi had noticed an impressive combination.

<<<31...g4! 32.Qg3 Qf1+!!>>>

Any capture leads to mate: 33.Kxf1 Rh1 or 33.Rxf1 Ne2.>
